With an SUV. I got to go with something with a little style, comfort, and class. So Lexus all the way. They give you all three. Then they throw in reliability and you feel like a baller. Can't lose.
Lexus being said. I would love a 2013 Porsche Cayenne with a v6.
I like how this whole video is about cheap and reliable SUV's while you're standing in front of an SUV that is neither of those things :P
Are Jeeps just not reliable?

I've owned 2015 Honda CR-V Ex for 7 years now and having 31 miles per gallon. Super reliable. Loving it 👍
That's what i want to hear a honest opinion about the CR-V!
Me too I have 2016. Thing is solid! Only thing that worries me long term is the CVT transmission though
I got nervous buying a c rv 2018. Glad I bought it :)
I might look into buying one , does it matter what year it is ?
@@jayc774 As a consumer, I recommend you buy a new one, not used one, in order to avoid possible headaches down the road. My rule of thumb is save money from other things but buying a new car and then ride it for 9+ years.
The gx used to be cheap! Until everyone exposed them😭😭
How much did they go for?
I have a 1998 CR-V that has a small lift with off road tires and a manual transmission. The thing is an absolute beast. Has handled all the off-road stuff I’ve thrown at it, and I still daily it to work. Love that car so freaking much and I still get around 25-30 MPG. Very underrated car!
My 2000 Toyota 4Runner is amazing. Still looks new and rides so good. Every time I have the oil changed I leave the dealer with notes on my receipt to contact them if I want to sell. No way!!!
They know their not stupid lol
4runners are rarer than unicorns here in Canada. And when they show up they go for 10k for a 2005 :*(
3rd Gen. 4runners are the best, the 3.4 V6 engine last for ever.
Same man, I've got a 2001 4runner, runs like a charm.
22R engine also very good
GX470 all day, and they are appreciating like crazy rn, my 05 Tundra appreciated so much... It’s hard not to sell 😆 but I love it
Tundra is a great rig too, can't go wrong!
I finally sold my '05 Tundra to the first guy that showed up.....on a 15 below zero day...with his pregnant wife. I guess he really wanted the truck. I was sympathetic. Had them inside and gave him a better price. Karma came around i guess and i ended up with a low mile GX470 that I love even more than the Tundra. Didnt think that was possible....😀
I'd personally choose a Toyota RAV4 because they're awesome
Yeah, lets go! Would you choose the hybrid?
@@IdealMediaChannel no I'd go with the normal version. I currently have a 2007 Toyota RAV4 and I love it. Just had a huge snow storm here in PA and it's been fun to drive

Nah, the 2007-2012 Rav4 have a transfer case coupling issue only found in the 4wd model. Other than that its a great SUV

She pointed to it when mentioning expensive SUVs
Perfect contrast between Suvs that last 500,000 miles and one that won't.
GX470, it'll last 400k and unlike most of the rest. Engine simplicity is king in long-term reliability. That said they're mostly north of $12,000 in 2022 and have well over 100k miles. If you find a unicorn it costs $25,000-$30,000+
I just picked up a GX470 with 260k for $10k. The current market is not kind, but it’s been well maintained and it’s in very good condition so I expect to get at least another 100k out of her.
What year is it ?
I still drive my '98 CRV to work and to run errands so I've only been putting 7500-8000 miles on her the last five years or so...in six months I'll hit the 300K mile mark. I drove it off the dealership lot just over 24 years ago and I'm still amazed by the crazy reliability of the first gen V's. Six months ago I finally had to replace the original starter and I'm still rolling with the original fuel pump and alternator although I DID replace the brushes on the alternator around seven years ago. If you maintain a first gen V, and that includes adjusting the valve clearance every 40k miles), the engines are almost bullet-proof. Mine still purrs like a kitten.
I have a ‘98 as well! And you’re right, they’re bullet proof. The first gen, RD1 CRV’s are amazing. The B20 motor is super reliable as well, as long as you do normal maintenance. I’m the third owner on mine and you can tell the previous owners loved and maintained the car, the interior and exterior are in fantastic condition. You don’t see many first gens on the road anymore though, everyone trades up and gets younger.
I've got a '99 CRV 5 speed that I bought new from the dealer in 2001. I drive 50 miles to work in it everyday. I've driven it across the country numerous times and taken it to redline more times than I can count. It's my baby and I don't think I would be the person I am today without it.
Dude…yours looks CLEAN (if that’s it in your thumbnail picture) I love the street look to it. I have a ‘98 5 speed, on a small lift/wheels with a luggage rack. I daily mine to work as well, and it’s such a beast! It’s super capable off road. And the B20 to redline is pretty fun..has a great purr to it too.
My dad has a 2007 Honda CRV and it has over 200,000 miles on it, that thing still turns on like it was the first time and it drives really good, my dad got a new Rav4 but he still uses the crv to work.
You tube GF is KILLING it lately!

Fairly honest review.
We can never dismiss this 99% truth:
"When you buy a used car, ur also buying the headaches that it gave the previous owner!"
The prices they are mentioning here, are the fluke and bottom prices of such used cars that have all the problems u can imagine that's why the owner is trying to get rid of it. The used decent ones have prices pretty close to brand news.
(2) options u can ponder:
1. Just get a reasonable brand new car within ur budget, IMPORTANT: get the longer warranty if you plan to keep the car.
Then, worrying about any breakdown & unscheduled expenses will take the backseat of ur mind at least for the next 5-6 yrs.
Cars nowadays have improved much with technology that as long as you comply with scheduled maintenance, the vehicle will always serve it's purpose.
2. In case u really have to buy a used one, it's best to get it from people u really know (not a friend's friend), in which u have a very good idea of this person and how the vehicle was used. Don't be immediately hooked with a brand name or the outside looks. Take it to a mechanic without the seller and get an objective check points of the engine/transmission first, then all the other components & luxury items if any.
*** Remember, getting a car is a major step in life especially first timers. So be wise & smart and get advice from reliable experienced people.
If u don't have any back-up support system, chances are ur going to get duped 100%.
I had a neighbor before who hastily brought a nice shiny sports car. Ended up being a driveway ornament and have not seen it move for years and I saw the face of the owner also aged fast and caught him kicking the car a few times.
There is a by chance silver lining & jackpot used car buys that is exactly how our lady host is describing BUT that comes very far few in-between in real life.
Thanks for the tips on the video. It's nice to know which brands some people have at least had positive experiences with. That's a good start when you really really have to buy a used car from zero idea & info.
Real shyt 💯

The RX350 is a Lexus version of the Highlander. My daughter got a used one 8 years old. 3 years later with 135,000m it runs beautifully and is easy to maintain. I think it will easily cover twice its current mileage.
No it is not. Rx350 is closer to a slightly larger Rav4 with a v6 instead of i4+ maybe hybrid. Lexus version of highlander would be like lx/gx470 570
@@brettheyer2421 Wrong. The Rx350 and Highlander have identical power trains. The 470 and 570 use V8s and a different AWD setup.

I own an 02 CR-V that a lady brought used in 2011 over in Cairns, Aus. She used it to cross Alice Springs all the way to Victoria and sold it in Launceston, Tas. I brought it from a guy in the south for $1500 @ 420,000kms on the odo.
After a full suspension rebuild, lift kit and some very minor mechanical work (valve lash adjustment, throttle body hose replacement & fluid changes) I'm expecting it to last a pretty long time and for less than $4000 it should prove to be a good travel bus for my kids haha!
2007 CRV 236k miles. Looks decent havent really seen in person. Should i get it? Or is the mileage a little too high? Or is it barely even breaking in?
I love my 2007 Highlander with 176,576 miles, but sadly the best mileage I'm getting now is 16 mpg's and occasionally only 14 mpg's! I'm the original owner and it has new tires and brakes, so on to another hunting season!
Check Scotty kilmers videos for easy simple maintenance for improving mpg. Your highlander should be getting more than 14mpg.
@@agookchild Thanks Nick, I'll check this one out and I've watched a number of Scotty Kilmer's videos and he's a character for sure! In the last tank, I did get nearly 19 mpg. (18.42 so it's better now)! Thanks for your comment!

I have a 2006 GX470 and it’s the best vehicle I have ever owned and I have had a lot. 130,000 miles on it and it drives perfectly, like new, it does burn a lot of gas and is my only complaint.
I'm really pleased to see Honda and GM collaborate together on new EV technology. That being said, I'm not surprised to see that the CR-V and Tahoe being mentioned first.
Until the infrastructure is completely overhauled EV is a horrible investment.

Been looking for the right one myself. I should have bought an 05 ml350 that only had 113k on it. It went for $2600 and was clean but I was trying for another car that day. Supposedly that 350 is good but 06+ is bad. I'd just rather have the ml500 if I'm going to get crappy milage anyway. Like a 1 or 2 mpg difference. I have a 99 S500 and really enjoy that engine. M119 is a beast

Parts are cheap and available anywhere, the mechanicals are simple and conventional, it's simple to work on and you will hardly know when any of the SUVs on this list, even the Tahoe, disappear underneath.
Something to be said for occupant safety so you can be around to enjoy all 500,000 miles of your SUVs life.

Another reliable SUV is the Honda Pilot and its upgraded cousin, the Acura MDX. We have our Pilot currently at 336,000 miles and still running strong.
My wife has a 14' CRV and it's certainly been reliable. We stick to the maintenance schedule and haven't had any reliability issues. That in mind, it has a CVT trans and they notoriously act up. They won't fail you but can cause a "stutter" at 20-30mph or so. We've had it looked into at our Honda dealer and basically they said there's no way to fix it, it wound strand you anywhere or decrease the cars reliability, but it's just annoying and you just sorta have to live with it.
Additionally, I have an 06' GX470. I love it, but bear in mind it's a 14 year old car. Rust is present but nothing structural. My airbags lasted to 160k miles and I swapped out to springs which was an easy weekend project. Also note the diff fluids need to be changed every 30k miles or so, the driveshafts should be lubed every oil change. Also, the exhaust manifolds have the catalytic converters on them, so every 6-10 years they like to crack. I changed each side for a total of $1.1k and it took an entire weekend of hard, strenous work. It was not fun at all and my knuckles were bleeding. Last, The front brakes tend to bind for some reason. I first changed mine 3y ago, then they bound up again 1y ago. Lexus fixed it for the GX460 by making the rotors thicker and adding more metal for heat dispersion. Conveniently the early 460 rotors and calipers fit on the GX470, so for $700 or so you can upgrade at the time of swapping. You're going to see that kind of maintenance on any old car. My GX has never left me stranded, it always starts (excepts when the alternator blew out, $200 fix), and its the most comfortable vehicle for the money to get you through armageddon.
wrong fake the new cvt are reliable as any transmission
Chevy Tahoe my fav because it looks badass in black

I own a 2003 chevy tahoe and a suburban. My tahoe has 158000 miles on it and I've had virtually nothing go wrong with it. We've replaced the power steering pump and water pump on the tahoe and water pump on the suburban.
My bf's 2002 crv's front wheel broke off due to rust, was cheap to fix and good as new. It's a beast!
The buick that has the same engine as the 5.3l Yukon, Tahoe, Trail Blazer and Saab 95 SUV.
The Saab 95 is hard to find with that motor but I would definitely take one.
I think the first gen Infiniti FX35 is one of the most gorgeous crossover/SUVs ever. I still want one but have been concerned about Nissans transmission issues with the CVT. Still I want one in Laser Red with the caramel interior (wasn’t a factory combo though🙁)
The FX never had a CVT. Same for the EX that followed.
Not a CVT
I know your comment is a couple years old, but I've been looking at the fx myself...they don't have cvt.... They don't appear to have transmission issues, despite being made by Nissan.
I have honda cr-v 2000 just a little mods and I'm good to go. Saves me a lot of money.
This is a good video. However, one of the things I've noticed over past years is that most Americans would take looks over reliability when it comes to buying any vehicle.
The Tahoe with the 5.3 has dod management problems. You're looking at 3k to correct that problem. The highlander is far from a beast or large. The Buick is a piece so you should be able to get the owner to pay you to drive it away.
This video had me laughing out louuuuuuud!!! Fast and loud baby....UA-cam GF owned it on this one.

My 2004 CRV had an electrical system stroke at 168k miles. everything went haywire. headlights come on when pressing the break? why not?
Great list. Of course how one maintains their vehicle is the primary determinant on how long a vehicle will last. I agree with your list ( actually didn’t know the infiniti was that good) But I would add The RAV4 , 4-Runner , Pilot and MDX. 😎
I live deep and high up in the mountains, and Honda Pilots suck up here. Don’t get me wrong if you are on a paved road driving through snow it does fine, but the minute you try to go on the easier trails with it it shows that it sucks.
And all them cars are very ugly except for the Mdx

I put a down payment on a 2013 CRV today, then started second guessing myself, because it has fairly high mileage. I've been looking up reviews, etc... and this made me feel better about my choice.
