I have cuttings coming out of my ears. I'm going to put some fusion starters on marketplace. I have about 20 that are 1-2 years established, before even getting this one.
Glad I could help! This is the red bish to bonsai's I've done, and I can say they e all gone a little different. It's exciting when you start digging in and seeing what that inner structure looks like. Good luck with yours!
I have a project just like this I started last summer. Benjamina do bounce back really strong in response to this work. Only thing I wish I had considered was trunk hierarchy. My thinnest trunk should have been cut the shortest. My thickest trunk should have been left longer than the others. I see your second longest trunk is pretty skinny. I’d cut that back once you get some buds to cut back to. Otherwise nice job avoiding my mistake!
Hahaha you just pulled a whole bushy tree out of your car! 😂 That is a wild find! People tend to shy away from Benjaminas as house plants, maybe depending on the climate, maybe because house plant keepers aren't willing to manage the upkeep of a tree that has different care requirements than the average Philodendron, you know?. It's impressive to see one so large! So many Big Cuts! Can't wait to see this bush back bud, that is a great trunk. nice to see some developed cuttings you're trying to fuse. Usually I see folks using much thinner samples for the whole clump, like your other fusions. This is the first time I've seen someone do it with cuttings that thick! I hope they make it 🤞
Thank you! I'm hoping so too, especially that last monster that I banded together. So far so good, it's been about a week or so and everything is still looking strong. As for the main clump, I'm pretty excited to see how well it bushes back out. Finding a pot for that beast is a whole different issue!
@@BonsaiBoise worst case scenario you might have to make a custom pot for it, I know Nigel Saunders acquired a few trees like this from his local mall that he gave away and i believe all of the people who got them wound up/ are having to do so too.
@@BonsaiBoise I believe one went to Ross and the other to Manuel and then I think one went to Dave, in fact he just repotted it recently and the last one i believe Nigel initially planned to keep but gave it away.
Oh my gosh. I watched you pull that beautiful tree out of your suv. Wow. I hope you show us growth on this tree in other videos. Please cause you hacked away at this beautiful plant
Oh yes, I'll definitely post updates on this. And yeah, it's a little squeamish watching those big cuts. In the end, I think it will actually look better than it originally did.
@@BonsaiBoise thank you 🙏🏻. I run an in home preschool my plants calm me down give lots of oxygen in my home I teach kids all About them. Glad I found you to teach me!
Mike, have you tried athletic/vet tape for your fusions yet. I started using it for my root over rock ficus and so far it has worked good for me. Got the idea from Tony's Bonsai.
Wow, that's a huge tree and a lifetime supply of cuttings..😂

What a find, should be nice to work with!
I love working with big raw material like this. My absolute favorite. They dont always look great immediately, but with some time they do.
Looks great!

Thanks Kennet! I'm excited to see how well it grows out this growing season.
Thank you for the video 👍 I needed some inspiration on a similar project I'm getting ready to work on.

I actually hadn't really thought of it that way till now. Assuming that skinny trunk back buds, that's exactly what I'll do!

How many of these monsters are you working now?!?
I’m diggin it, Toy!
This is number 3! Although the first one was kind of wimpy compared to this guy.

No I haven't and I keep meaning to!
Hi I’m back again what kind of fertilizer do you use on this tree ?? I have two small braided trees about four feet tall. I’m in Indiana too
I've been using Osmocote outdoor/indoor lately, but I don't know if that's the best kind or not. I need to learn more about fertilizers.
Mike, would you be interested in some 3to4 yr old limber pines ?
Hey Bob! Sure I would. I have to admit I have almost no experience with pines though. You'd think I would have tried one by now, but nope, never have.
@@BonsaiBoise let me know I will meet up and hand off
