Nuke stacking on strategic subs is when you shift+g all the subs onto the exact same location so the models overlap; then firing all the nukes simultaneously at a target. This is rude, (dont know about bannable) because even if you have more nuke defence than there are nukes, nukes can and do still make it through because the smd doesnt target nukes on top of each other properly.

they dont bug out, but it means the nukes are harder to shoot down, if they are spread out a nuke def can shoot down 4 or 5 if they are clumped together its 3
It's not a bug at all, what happens is that sometimes they confuse SMD's and a bunch of them tries to shoot the same nuke because their AI targets the first one that enters the range in case of equidistance, thus wasting precious ammo and firing time. You need to do have spammed nukes for this to work anyway, so it's a tactic instead of an abuse if my understanding does not fail me.
This is on the border of glitch using then and i can understand why ppl would ban it. I mean off-mapping or transporter blocking could also be considered a tactic but is frowned upon. If the multi-nuke was just to deceive the enemy i would be fine with it but if it wastes smd missles it is stronger than it should be.
@@jx4219 Correct and not so at the same time so it is a bit of a gray area. In order for this to work you have to have enough nukes fired at the same time to breach a given number of SMD's anyway this tactic simply increases your chances instead of outright using a loophole. How SMD's will react is completely down to the case, however, it being frowned upon is completely justifiable. There is no saying if the SMD's will be deceived or not, due to SupCom's engine the ballistics work in sort of mysterious ways. Off-mapping isnt really a glitch either, just a massive dick move. Transporter blocking on the other hand simply abuses a loophole in the game engine. If your opponent puts two SMD's too close to each other the SMD's will react to a single nuke the same way anyway, as in both of them will try to shoot a single nuke simultaneously with one succeeding and the other wasting it's ammo, this happens due to the travel speed and rate of fire disparity between a slowing nuke and SMDs as can be seen in the later stages of this particular GyleCast. Stacking nukes can only take advantage of poor SMD placing, or there's such a sheer number of nukes present that it HAS to be done, because SupCom has a terrible tendency to devolve into hour-long turtling wars with no way to effectively breach each others' defenses. Funnily enough, if you just do a 2x2 land nuke formation instead of nuke subs it will effectively become nuke stacking in and of itself anyway. If the fight devolves into nukes and smds, it becomes less of a tactic or choice and more of an eventuality. Then again, here we are discussing ethics for a game that came out in 2008 or so, make of that what you will lol.
@@DefconLives I meant deceiving as in the enemy thinks there is only one nuke which he can shoot down and then doesn't move his commander. I beta tested this game and the expansion way back when, with a totally shite CPU even for the day; it's funny to see how some things change yet other remain the same. One thing I have to appreciate about this game is the nukes actually mean something. I always disliked SC (Starcraft) and SC2's piddly nukes which really didn't reflect the investment and time you put into them. It's a well balanced game with great dynamics, but I loved the scale of Supreme Commander, not to mention the queueing of commands which made complex tactics possible.
Some day when we can run this on quantum CPUs that can handle the massive parallel computation of this game, we are going to see a renaissance of Supreme Commander.
Assuming it is compatible with a quantum's instrunction set, which is either going to be a massive pain for the community to make this compatibility patch OR the computer comes with an automatic "translator" of sorts, so that normal stuff can run on it ... and of course i'm ignoring the probably massive price tag as new tech tend to be for the first decade of existence
@@Pho7on no need for this, you just have do some tricks for the massiv numbers. why should you do real physical tracing if you fire a huge amount of the same shell? some skillful math and a better engine...i do miss this kind of rts game with massive amounts of small units and swarm intelligence. there is a lot you can improve. :/

One lesson i see here for myself would be to switch earlier artillery fire if it wouldn't connect due to heavy shield coverrage. As seen, after switching he did good damage onto team 2 then. Still after such a long battle the brain fries and so having that flexibility of thought is not easy.
Polygon was whining about the summits beating his battleships, but he was pretty passive in the early game when Cybran have a naval advantage against UEF.
It really illustrates what I’ve noticed with the scathis. It’s good at doing area economic damage but - for the price - terrible at taking out a single defended target.

@@KatharsasOfficial oh geez, really? There's gotta be a way to get it to utilize multiple cores, tho. CAS timing is easy to work around. Just get more ram. Or faster ram. The big thing would be getting the engine to use more than one of my CPU cores. Hmmm...
@@tarrker More RAM helps bandwith, but not latency. Latency has stayed the same pretty much since DDR1 333 (15 nanoseconds). Bigger CPU cache might heIp though. I mean its still fast enough in practice for most gameplay up to 4v4 if all players have a decentish machine.

That was a great game! So many nukes. So much Scathis fire. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Scathis was built underwater because it's the only one that can reposition right? So they must've been trying to hide its construction.
This whole project is a pretty good format. I wish I could see more of the numbers, and the team chats.i also, hats off to CARL17OS, you monster. A fine loss.
Question: What's the use of a T3 Battlecruiser (Neptune Class) for the UEF faction? Like, is it made to be best at ship to ship combat? Because the Battleship is basically and artillery ship and not really suited for ship to ship at close range.
Battleships have a slow rate of fire with high damage wich overkills small targets. BCs don't overkill much since they can quickly retarget their lasers. So BCs are better vs smaller units but have less damage output than Battleships.
@@benjaminrobledo5466 Yes. Battleships are vs anything big basically. Just think it fires a volley of like 10k dmg every 10 seconds and then kills one frigate with 500 health with it. Big waste. If there are 50 frigates it will take forever. So a battleships should prioritize everything that has a big amount of health. Like other Battleships, Battlecruisers, Experimentals or key base structures. And the slow firing is the reason Battleships need an escort that defends them against smaller units. Like Battlecruisers or other small units. Otherwise they easily get swamped.

So if the misfires are counterable by smd placement then it's fine again. I just hate exploity stuff. And sure it's from 2008 but it's still my most played online game and for many others as well.
I just started playing Forged Alliance a few weeks ago and damn if doesn’t absolutely put supreme commander 2 to shame. I’ve played SupCom2 for years but never had a pc to play the older ones and now that I’ve played FA I’m so pissed off about how bad they did 2. They dumbed it down so bad, it’s a shame they didn’t keep it like FA. I’m only playing on steam rn but as soon as I get the hang of it more, I’m definitely gonna get on FAF and test my skills online.
Love the video! Was extremely fond of this game back in the day, glad to see games still being uploaded now, keep it up!
Love your videos, you encouraged me and a friend to get the mod and start playing again!
It is the year 12480, and the region of Seton's is finally reduced to a smoldering heap of nuclear waste. Well played people, and Gyle, congrats for the awesome commentary. What a vid
Never even knew anyone else still played this. Glad I found this channel and will now go spiral down the rabbit hole
That saved my Day :3
That startet with a Nice Air Battle and endet in a fricking epic Nuclear Cataclysm xD
Would be nice if we can see in the Future some Galaktic War Games ( FactionWars) :3
Keep it up Gyle
This was on my list for DAYS now ... Epic is the right word ^^
FFS Gyle, I had things to do this afternoon.
not anymore
I love these videos. Thank you so much for all the work you guys do.
One of the best strategy games ever made. Was drawning in it near year 2010
This was so EPIC!!! Thanks for sharing!
Assuming it is compatible with a quantum's instrunction set, which is either going to be a massive pain for the community to make this compatibility patch OR the computer comes with an automatic "translator" of sorts, so that normal stuff can run on it
... and of course i'm ignoring the probably massive price tag as new tech tend to be for the first decade of existence
Well, it's about StarCraft being more "competitive", while SupCom is about being fun. You can guess three times which one I prefer
This is by far the greatest match ive ever watched.
this might be old but this by far is my favorite I have seen
These are the gold vids I keep watching for
Never played this before. I totally wanna jump in now!
Absolutely incredible game, maybe the best epic you've ever casted. Really wonderful how close that game was all the way to the end. Loving all the nukes of course.
huh, why have i never played this... it looks good;
Edit: I can feel Total Annihilation, for sure!
total annihilation was meant to be the spiritual successor to this game. it didn't really live up to it imo. TA was still better than SupCom 2 though.
You mean planetary annihilation, total annihilation was the game that supcom is a successor to
@@alexmcaree7854 oop you're right my bad. I saw annihilation and my brain filled in the rest haha
Never heard of that game, but it's very cool! Enjoyed it, thanks :)
5:45 "1 hit point. A cat's sneeze away from death" Haha, that's an awesome phrase!
надо быть внимательным, каждый раз пропускаешь интересные моменты.
That was a great game. I must applaud him for fighting to the bitter end
fantastic ending worthy of such a great game. great cast thanks again gyle
Wow, I can't believe how much bigger setons is in SupCom(FA/FAF) than it is in SupCom2
Second?
@@1989ElLoco fixed
Thrawnmulus Ah yes. SupCom 2 maps are tiny. FAF is the real deal mate. At least for me.
81x81km I believe.
@@ineednochannelyoutube5384 lol no, setons is 20x20 it nowhere near the size of frostmill ruins/betrayal ocean
havent seen this many nukes EVER :D wtf... what an epic
Gonna comment for the algorithm for a very enjoyable cast. Jokes are landing for this dry old veteran.
I thought I would like SC2 but I much prefer SC. The units are badass. SC2 is so nerfed
And the royally fucked up the Aeon :'( made them a niche kind-of-joke faction
@@Land967 they also removed Seraphin. Turned the campaign into a military story from hard fantasy sci fi.
Made experimental units into basically the T2, T3 of a game where only T1 exists, where in Sup Com 1 it was T1 T2 T3 and T3993838839390 (Experimental). Made graphics nice but barren. Did a lot of changes to turn an rts classic to an XBOX strategy game.
@@crimsonlanceman7882 I know I played it a lot in multiplayer games were a lot shorter. a youtuber friend of mine posted out supcom2 games (his name was stnp255) but he sadly deleted all of his videos a few months ago :( and he was a popular-at-the-time supcom2 uploader
This video made me pick up the collection on Steam... SC2 is just so dumbed down compared to the first.
SC2 is a pretty good game. I like that it is faster paced, but it isn't SC1.
this is art. this ma be your best video yet.
Amazing game! Thanks to all the players and Gyle!
why didn't yellow roll all over his mirrors base at ~10min?
his opponent had nothing and he had spy planes hovering casually over him - so he knew it.
Gyle: "Audible groan from those of you who are sick of it. *laughs* I just don't care, it's what I'm putting out today!"
THAT'S THE SPIRIT! XD
It really illustrates what I’ve noticed with the scathis. It’s good at doing area economic damage but - for the price - terrible at taking out a single defended target.
so much for my plan to attend classes today
I enjoyed this I've just gone and brought the game again. Thanks
Excellent commentary. My friend and I recently bought pc. We were big Supreme commander 2 players on Xbox now playing forged alliance, originally started on steam. But I just recently downloaded FAF. To many cheaters on steam. Glitching
Most important thing is there is very accurate ranking on faf. When you play against players of your skill level it just creates a much better game.
Another amazing game. Just unbelievable. I can't wait to get the replay and try it on my machine. I wish there was a way for me to sort of lend my computer for this. I'm pretty sure I could render all of this without going into the negatives.
You will be surprised. Supcom simulation is single-core and on top of that bottlenecked by RAM latency. Hope you have perfect CAS timings.
I mean its still fast enough in practice for most gameplay up to 4v4 if all players have a decentish machine.
а на какой минуте картинка с аннотации к видео?? what minute is the picture from the annotation to the video ??
I've never heard of this game, which is kind of sad. Good thing the UA-cam algorithm decided to show it to me :)
Pick it up on steam and come join us!
@@GyleCast I'll definitely look into it!
Tanks for keeping this great game alive
Nice cast. But it would be nice to have more variety in maps on Gyle cast.
Also to motivate players to play other maps more.
Completely agree. I am trying on the diversity front but it's tough at the moment with the replay vault suffering from its filtering issues since pagination a couple of patches ago.
Perfect timing as always, got me cuppa and popcorn good to go
Oh man, I am so excited that we get more!
Imagine not knowing about this epic game. What a hollow existence those lives must be.
Ive never played this game. Have always heard about how good it is. And quite honestly, im upset I never tried it before. This is so cool. The artillery/nuke spam by two opposing teams is amazing
That was a great game! So many nukes. So much Scathis fire.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Scathis was built underwater because it's the only one that can reposition right? So they must've been trying to hide its construction.
Thats very smart
Wait the scathing can go under water? WTF
@@patrickbick2064 it's not amphibious according to the Supcom wiki, which makes me think it's a FAF feature
@@pt8306 It was always amphibious. I remember sending it on 20 minutes underwater missions playing against the AI on 80x80km maps as a kid in SC1.
Watching your videos made me buy this game :)
I will never be sick of Setons.
That was mental. What an absolute nuke game enders fest. Really entertaining! What a Epic of an Epic!
I always like making the UFOs in this game, and crashing them into the other players base.
That was fun. I think the FAF developers made shields deflect those now though.
They deflect smaller aircraft, but the big UFO? probably not
Worth a test though
This whole project is a pretty good format.
I wish I could see more of the numbers, and the team chats.i
also, hats off to CARL17OS, you monster. A fine loss.
Question: What's the use of a T3 Battlecruiser (Neptune Class) for the UEF faction?
Like, is it made to be best at ship to ship combat? Because the Battleship is basically and artillery ship and not really suited for ship to ship at close range.
I believe it's better in combat against mass T2 vessels. It loses to battleships in prolonged long-range battles
Battleships have a slow rate of fire with high damage wich overkills small targets. BCs don't overkill much since they can quickly retarget their lasers. So BCs are better vs smaller units but have less damage output than Battleships.
@@jx4219
Oh. So Battlecruiser are basically made to wipe out groups of smaller units, and, battleships are for bombardment of high damage?
@@benjaminrobledo5466 Yes. Battleships are vs anything big basically. Just think it fires a volley of like 10k dmg every 10 seconds and then kills one frigate with 500 health with it. Big waste. If there are 50 frigates it will take forever. So a battleships should prioritize everything that has a big amount of health. Like other Battleships, Battlecruisers, Experimentals or key base structures. And the slow firing is the reason Battleships need an escort that defends them against smaller units. Like Battlecruisers or other small units. Otherwise they easily get swamped.
@@jx4219
Ah. Awesome. Thanks for the clarification!!! :D
Damn people making SupCom videos in 2020 this game is so good
