I happily owned a first model year, 2017 Buick Envision 2.0T Premium II AWD. I remember so many people on the forums calling it a POS that will start falling apart and leave people stranded before 50k miles lol!! We couldn't have been happier with our Envision! I initially did a three year lease with an upgraded 18k miles per year. We loved this Envision so much, that when the three years were up, I financed it for five years. I paid it off in two years... I traded it in last year when I bought my '23 Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Performance that I absolutely love! I hated EV's until I took a Model 3 Performance out for a test drive... That's a story for another time... Anyway, we put 159,000 and change miles on that Buick, and it never gave us any problems whatsoever! We used synthetic motor oil and just did scheduled maintenance right from the first oil change. This Buick never even had any creaks or rattles in it! This Envision was tight and solid like a new German vehicle throughout those years of ownership! The improved 2019 and newer models should make excellent used crossovers by now. The added torque and the better 9-speed auto must be nice 👍
We have one and love it. When I was a powertrain engineer for GM, this was the only car my wife and i agreed we both liked when I took home testers. Liked it so much we bought one.
I'm 33 years old and plan to buy this later on this year for me and my wife. I really like the interior and the seats and so comfortable. There is a lot of tech and creature comforts for the price. It is kinda like a hidden gem in the luxury market. Also given that it is a GM, it has built in On Star, SOS, Wi-Fi internet, and the app to use to get the vehicle ready before any drive
I’m glad to hear that you’re interesting in the Envision! We were asked by our viewers to feature it but overall interest in our episode was pretty light.
I have a new model Full sized 2018 GM Impala LT and few of the things I really appreciate is the quietness, ride and the fact the indicator is very low in sound. And it is a pleasant sound not loud clicking sound. Now I would never pay what the sticker was asking but for $9000 off and paid only $25,500 and get 21 City and 33 HWY to me it is a much more car than a sub compact /compact car price. Great Review and GOOD for you in mentioning what I have been saying for the last 20 years. Why does every vehicle get compared to sporty handing, accelleration, and have to look mean. If someone came out with a really CUTE vehicle instead of intimidating looking and put some real performance behind it just to be different we could have another segmant.
We’ve been focusing on this actually, we talk about it on this Envision but also in a couple weeks with the 2019 Lincoln Continental we just had. There’s a lot of buyers who don’t want something sporty, but the manufacturers keep pumping out the sport.
Glad you liked it, we had a number of requests to do the Envision. We see quite a few of them out here, they seem to be popular with a wide range of demographics!
I have a loaded LaCrosse and really love it. I would trade it for a TourX but it is not offered with ventilated seats. So I will look at this. Great review 👍 Buick's are the only reliable American brand. How soft was the arm rests?
I don't remember having any complaints about the arm rest, but it's been a while since I drove it. I like the LaCrosse when we had it, its unfortunate that Buick is slashing their vehicle lineup in North America.
That's good to hear that hand controls are something you're able to get installed on this vehicle. I believe you commented a few months back asking about it and at the time it didn't seem like GM was able to accommodate the steering wheel to work the way you needed it to, but we're happy to hear it's happening!
I really dislike that the stereotype of Buick appealing to the older consumer is so pervasive, and probably true. I’m 34 and have driven a 2015 lacrosse for 6 years, and want to upgrade to a crossover. I love the quiet tuning and mid level luxury that Buick offers. I’d like to test drive one of these but I’m terrified of the “grandma” look it emits. Ugh.
The 2022 Envisions are fantastic crossovers, they've completely changed the look inside and out. These ones aren't bad but by comparison have aged poorly against the newest models. Personally I loved the 2019 Lacrosse Avenir I drove, and would buy one if I could.
If the MKC is anything like the Continental we just had, it should be amazing. It's funny all week with the Conti we saw very few Lincolns on the road, then all of a sudden Sunday afternoon there were dozens of them. It dawned on me... those Lincolns only get driven on Sunday to church!
As a 20 year old guy, I would rather buy a 90's/early 2k buick than any modern sedan. In a sedan, I don't want sport and I don't want cheap. Sadly today sedans are either cheap or sport (or both) and you can't buy a true luxury sedan anymore unless you're in RR/Bentley territory. In terms of crossovers/suv's, this thing is clearly just a mainstream chinese vehicle, and what seems like luxury features here is just standard features there we don't get here normally. The XT4 was miles ahead of this and its made by the same company (GM) and is in the same price bracket. If you want true luxury and comfort with little to no sport, your best bet is the handful of wagons on the market, like buick's own regal tourx.
Since I had this back to back with the XT4 price between the two of them was always on my mind. I couldn't believe this was so close in price to the XT4 but didn't quite hit the nail on the head for a luxury-oriented vehicle. If they dropped the price by $10k it would be more in line, considering the other flaws we mentioned about it. Speaking of wagons we just posted about some on our Community Post!
@@PRNTestDrive thats my issue with buick as a brand overall. They are essentially a Chinese mainstream brand, just being rebranded as a budget luxury (aka mainstream) american brand. Either buy the GMC/Chevy mainstream vehicles or buy a caddy, buick lost its touch in 2005
I was genuinely surprised that Buick made it out of the GM bankruptcy. I expect with Opel being sold GM will have to leverage more vehicles for the Chinese market like this moving forward.
I can't/would never touch it due to the whole "built in china" thing.. Otherwise, seems super nice and exactly what the average people need.. Due to my experience with Small GM turbos, I think it'll be mostly reliable.. I've liked the styling of the interior on this one since it came out and the slight exterior refresh fixed the dopey styling. It's nice looking. Build it in America !
I think the only Buick actually built in the US right now is the Enclave. Considering how expensive this Envision is they really should be able to build it there.
As you said, it gets the job done but generally there is not enough information in terms of reliability and longevity. Smartphones from China are competitive , but cars are another story, even though it s an american maker. And the fact , that Buick cut back jobs in the US in order to produce in china, should not be swept under the carpet. BMW is planning to errect a second factory in the US , also because of the success story of spartanburg,I mean, good work should be duly honoured, it s better than risking your reputation, only because the production costs in china are lower, but the outcome is not predictable.
There's certainly a lot of movement when it comes to production factories these days. Manufacturers are opening/closing all over the planet it seems. Automotive manufacturing in Canada has shrunk considerably over the decades too.
Hi, 5 years in the future here, Transport Canada has no recalls for the 2019 or 2020 model years of the Buick Envision. So.. yea it looks like you're right.

Fair enough! Hope you continue to enjoy yours.
i have this in all black. black grill black everything. looks really aggressive and sporty. while being very comfortable and luxurious!
Enjoy it!

This actually is an underrated channel! Great vids!!
EDIT: u will prolly fins this car for less than half its price in a couple of years
I appreciate that, thank you!
Thanks for your review on the Buick Envision. I’m in that over 50 market and if I decide to buy one this will be the 4th Buick I will own.
Glad you liked it, we had a number of requests to do the Envision. We see quite a few of them out here, they seem to be popular with a wide range of demographics!
Thank you for finally uploading this! One of the best car review channels on UA-cam!
We're very happy to hear that, thank you! We try our best to review the cars we get requests for!

My dream car ❤️
Glad to hear it!
Great review
We're happy to hear that you think so, thanks!
Al-you-Mini-um? Al-oo-min-um. Still, a good review of an above average compact SUV.
I spotted the American.
Great video. Thanks
Thanks! I'm happy with the way this one turned out, working on improving the overall look of the video we shoot.

Better riding quality than 2018 Lincoln MKC??? Just wonder.
Sorry, but this is definitely not for me^^;;;
Nice review, thanks
i'd say no. MKC adaptive suspension is nothing short of amazing for a small CUV.

I wonder what their profit is on each one, $25000 $20000. Corporate greed.
It's probably high considering it's priced about $15k higher than a fully loaded Mazda CX-5 and doesn't really offer anything the Mazda doesn't.

Do you have an iPhone? It was built in China.
Here is a question, who in their right mind picks this Buick over a Honda Passport?
It's cheaper and well equipped. This is how the Japanese have grown then the Korean and now the Chinese
Looking back at this, Transport Canada has zero recalls for this vehicle historically. Quite a good track record.
As you said, it gets the job done but generally there is not enough information in terms of reliability and longevity.

Made in China? Deal breaker for me.
Fair enough
cheap looking plastics, no real styling and cheap looking veneer "wood" inside just makes this a big 'ol clunky looking joke.
It’s the illusion of luxury.
You lost me at built in China - fuck that shit, GM!

For 60k you could buy a BMW M2 Competition lmaoo
Maybe in the US, you’re not getting much of a BMW M car for $60k CAD.
PRN_TestDrive in the US of course
