One day Sean was at a PickNPull and met this guy Mikey. Mikey recognized Sean from our UA-cam videos and struck up a conversation with him. Mikey was wondering if he could borrow my special rear axle tool to service his axles and asked Sean to relay the request to me. If I had a crystal ball and could have seen what a cool and generous guy Mikey was, I would have lended him my tool in a heartbeat. But, since I didn't know him and I've had bad experiences in the past lending things out to people, I told him no. But, this started out a conversation between the two of us and I learned Mikey was going to swap out his 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 engine in his 2002 Toyota 4runner for a 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 out of a wrecked Toyota Sequoia. I told Mikey we would love to video this project and asked if we could be a part of it. He said, YES!
Mikey has a friend named Wes who owns a Custom Hotrod Shop in Santa Clara, CA. The majority of the work took place at Wes' shop and he was also cool with us filming the project.
Wes moved his shop to Morgan Hill. Here's his contact info if you're interested in using his services for custom automotive work. www.oneoffcusto... (408) 802-3299
We owe a lot to Mikey and Wes for letting us be a part of this awesome project and we are stoked that we get to share it with all of you.
You're going to get to see some cool things you don't get to see everyday in the Automotive Mechanic World, so grab a beer, sit back, relax and Enjoy the Show!
**Here's a cheat sheet Mikey made to route the factory 2002 4runner wiring harness to the 2003 Sequoia wiring harness:
