He filmed this in Brighton, South England. All the tales were live performances with one camera and a classical guitar :) He's a poet, rapper, singer, actor, storyteller, guitarist, pianist you name it he can do it ! Jenny & Screech followed in their mother and father's footsteps even though they never knew them. Jenny was probably a prostitute, high heels, late at night walked the street a thousand times before and was silent like her mother Violet. Screech was a violent thug just like his father Steve....generational trauma
My first thought, when I saw the Tales a few months ago, was that Ren could easily write and produce Hamilton-like plays for Broadway or off-Broadway. The mix of music, hip-hop and storytelling has proved to hit a nerve with the public, so I hope Netflix takes that into account when they talk with Ren.
You're one of the best "large group" reactor channels! I've seen other channels that have two, three or more reactors constantly interrupt, joke around and talk over music videos, and miss all kinds of lyrics, guitar solos, etc. You're very respectful and thoughtful about the songs and what the artist is doing. Much appreciated! 🤠
The Jenny & screech part was like a story he read in newspapers. He remembered cop saying it was shame. Now the violet part & plot twist at the end. Was all him story telling. He wanted to point out the cycle & how things repeat itself. Abuse & tragedy cycle
Not sure if anyone's written about this but from what I've seen in comments of this tale on the other channels... Ren saw a story of a boy who killed a girl on the news and wrote the Jenny and Screech bits. Then a number of years later he wrote Violet's Tale and tied it all together. He repeats "it's such a shame" or something a few times throughout these songs, I think he's speaking to the desensitization of the media. They can tell the worst stories of humanity and say things like "such a shame" with out a glint of emotion on their face.
Ren's fans call this style Bardcore (like the bard Jaskier in The Witcher but in modern times) and here's the origin story of this trilogy 🤩😁🤯 This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read in a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the police responding to a murdered girl in Sussex Gardens in Paddington - one of the capital's most notorious red light districts. It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on, without a second thought. The the lead inspector was quoted saying " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding yet another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to consider not only generational violence but to make us look at all angles of society that we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both killed with brutal violence in the same night 14yrs later. Also, his lyrics have even more meaning when you read in between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older saying at Patrick's door "I left this lady lying on the floor". Could it be the way she's dressed & her heavy makeup? Also why is a 14yr old girl out so late at night alone in a sketchy area wearing high heels & that "she's walked it a thousand times before" everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason & makes us think. There's no fat on the bone, every word is weighed & has meaning. Also, how can both these siblings be so cursed? Both are born out of violence on that cruel night of Violets beating and then both killed with brutal violence in the same night 14yrs later. Interesting how Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Whereas Screech mirrors his father Stevie in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily prone & provoked into violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children? He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think shouldn't we be doing better job in this so called "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. I'm loving your reactions. Cheers 🥂.
Fantastic reaction! You lads are ALL awesome. Love watching you fully absorb all the details. Thats quite an achievement when you you have more than two people together at one time. You'd think it would be harder to concentrate. But thats not just testimony to your powers of observation, its what Ren does. He sucks you in with his powerful performance skills. Thank you so much for this. A real pleasure to hear you all give such inciteful comments. A joy to watch. Sending love from the UK 💕

FYI... he's a multi-instrumentalist, makes his own beats, produces and directs ll his videos! Many are one shot, recorded live! Buckle Up Bros... his rabbit hole is DEEP!!!!!!
Thank you for not talking through the whole things... so many people miss the twist talking over the lyrics. I was worried with 5 of you but you all reacted subtly and didn't blow the ending.
A physical illness onset in 2009 at age 17 - just as he’d signed a contract with Sony - was misdiagnosed as mental illness, and other things, for YEARS. 14 years clawing his way back, and Ren just made No. 1 on the UK album charts as an independent artist. Truly astonishing and well-deserved.
Yes Twins! So, Jenny was also 14 and out on the streets, late at night, a route she'd "walked a thousand times before" - in high heeled shoes = Jenny was an under-age prostitute, while Screech was a street kid trying to tough it out, 'off his face' half the time on various drugs. With Dad; Stevie, either on the run, or in jail, and Mom; Violet dead, they were likely separated at birth, both ending up out on the streets trying to survive and never knew each other. { So much for 'State Care'! Which we all know is a useless and under-funded mess. Sadly, kids often believe they are safer out on the streets than in those group homes or hostels... } This is modern [ Bardcore ] Street Theatre at it's finest. A Masterpiece. Many shie away from the dark themes, but Ren is far more than a mega-multi-talented artist, he is also a powerful Social Commentator. He brings us right there into the scene - to 'stand witness'. He wants us to Care. To Care about ALL the victims, including 'poor boy' Screech, who wouldn't have turned out like this if someone somewhere had 'Cared'. # Ren said years back he heard about the shooting of a 14 y/o street kid who had killed a young prostitute and 'felt' for them. Later he put the Jenny & Screech Tales together. Later still he pulled it together with Violet's Tale. This he made up, but, it could so easily have happened, maybe has!?
Great story telling and it shows how the cycle of violence carries on. Jenny had traits of her mother like being silent and living a tough life, and Screech had traits of his father like violence. It's a great tragic story.
Great reaction guys!! I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this song (trilogy) by Ren! Especially at the end of the music video! I will subscribe!! RENegade!!

Great reaction guys. Thank you. It exposes the cycles of abuse. Jenny ended up being silent & meek like her mom Violet, Screech ended up being violent and deranged like his dad. ❤ Even if its not our fault, at some point its our responsibility to stop the cycles if we see it. Thanks again!
Ren's mad talented in every genre he touches - even this which he calls "bardcore." For a different kind of story, but still 🔥, try his Money Game series. Part 3 just came out and is amazing. Part 1 is a live one-take; for Part 2, be sure to watch the official lyric video. Part 3 is a masterpiece. If you just want fun raps, try "Losing It" or "The Hunger." He's damn fast. Personally, I gravitate to some of his island influenced songs like "Murderer," "Humble," and "Ocean." His whole discography bangs with some hip-hop, rock, ballads, etc.
he read an article about a young boy who knifed a young prostitute with the rise in knife violence in the uk, he became upset and wrote the first two tales. later he wrote violets tale to point out the generational violence.
I just found you guys and loved your reaction. If you like the storytelling side of Ren you should check out Money Game Parts 1, 2, and 3; SO good. To me, this song is about the cycle of poverty and the cycle of violence, and the moral of the story is that the only way to end it is to remember that every stranger on the street is your brother or sister.
"It gets worse"... Violet jumped the council housing queue on moving out at 16... which to my mind is indicative of a teen pregnancy - and she only met Stevie later. Screech's friend Patrick isn't at no. 54, and Babe is home but unavailable.... there is a possibility that they are getting busy together. Jenny has been 'walking this street' for almost a thousand days... with high heels, make-up and with a desire to escape... when he pauses and looks at the graffito it is of a pubic mound and clitoris labelled 'lick'. As well as the main story in each song there is sub stories that go deep and even more tragic, a lot of people miss them. Tale of Jenny - as we know Jenny and Screech are twin siblings, and we know Screech is 14 years old, meaning Jenny is also 14. So think about it, why would a 14 year old be out late at night, in high heels, walking the streets "she's walked a thousand times before" SO is Jenny is a 14 year old sex worker? Tale of Screech - After killing Jenny he goes to his "Friends" Patrick, who is not in late at night?. He then calls his "Girlfriend" who is "Busy, SO is she busy cheating on him with Patrick? Vilolets Tale - As we know Violet is being abused by her father. She moves out at 16 and is given flat by a welfare scheme, in UK at 16, she would only get a flat from a welfare scheme if she was already pregenant. She then gets a job and meets Stevie. Violet was pregenant before she met Stevie, SO are the Twins due to her abuse from her father? Rens stories go deeper than you think.
It's 10 a month to get UA-cam premium..... Who still watches ads or let's them interrupt their entertainment on yt 😂 just pay the money to not deal with ads 😅
Excellent reaction with thankfully few interruptions. Yes, Violet was Jenny and Screech's mother, and each tale was filmed live in one take.

Well-explained!
He wants to do a Netflix show with the tales and stories he tells in his lyrics. I’d be so hyped for that.
That’ll be fire!

Gentlemen, just imagine your school results if you all paid attention in school like you did for this trilogy!😂
This reaction was LIT 🔥
well done you caught the little girl on swing , not a lot of people get that

"It gets worse"...
Violet jumped the council housing queue on moving out at 16... which to my mind is indicative of a teen pregnancy - and she only met Stevie later.
Screech's friend Patrick isn't at no. 54, and Babe is home but unavailable.... there is a possibility that they are getting busy together.
Jenny has been 'walking this street' for almost a thousand days... with high heels, make-up and with a desire to escape... when he pauses and looks at the graffito it is of a pubic mound and clitoris labelled 'lick'. This suggests that she resorted to surviving by prostitution at 11 or 12 at most.... because she is also currently '14' just as James is.
After she is killed "the statue she was turned to butter in a breath", the 'dark' character of the graffiti around him is relieved by the innocent girl on the swing as Jenny is revealed to have "found somewhere to sleep", and "I guess that she escaped"... The lingering under the anarchy symbol at the title of Screech's tale is also likely intentional.
The original story was of a 14 year old boy who attempted to rob and killed a prostitute, with Jenny ret-conned to be the twin when Violet was written several years after Jenny and Screech.
A modern day Bard he is.

You should make a reaction to rens street performances!!!

Nice!
