@MissionaryBushPilot Brother Ryan you are my missionary and aviation hero. You have already accomplished all that I was ever trained to do; but that was almost 60 years ago. And now I’m too old. But I can still train others. I still get white knuckles on some of your approaches! Keep the blue side up! And again, thank you good and faithful servant.
When Quest was formed, they received money from mission groups to fund the development costs, and the groups received the first batches of aircraft. The Kodiak replaced DeHaviland Beaver which was a piston aircraft. The Kodiak is a third cheaper than the Cessna Caravan, but carries about 25% less cargo being a smaller aircraft. Still would be nice to have a pressurized option, since wearing a nasal tube at altitude gets old, fast.
Steveo, did a test flight on one of his videos and it is a very impressive airplane with all it's capabilities. The price is also very reasonable for what the manufacturer provides the customer. I believe the Kodiac is a WIN WIN for Quest!
@@RootBeerGMT Pffft 500k wont even get you the engine homie. Its turbo prop AKA a jet engine essentially. I mean Quest is certainly not losing money off sales but aviation is a really expensive game. Getting a plane certified is insanely expensive its honestly incredible companies even bother lol.
Jeez I really want a plane (when I get the money that is) and the Caravan, and the Kodiak 100 are both perfect. The Caravan has more storage because it's bigger, but the Kodiak 100 is STOL. I like adventuring so that kinda tips the scale a little for me but both a beasts.
Great job! Always appreciate you asking the price. If you have a chance to review a new Cessna 182 sometime in the future I would enjoy that. Thank you
I would go for this in a second if it came between a TBM and this awesome machine. Insurance company will love you for getting fixed gear plane and reward you for being smart. Just wish it had wheel a pants option.
Great idea...keep describing it as a Bush Plane and decide to exhibit it in the deluxe version. With that said, it looks like a great aircraft....for the Bush role.
I live in Ecuador and mexican drug cartels use these types of planes and private jets they take off from really short and dangerous hand made dirt runways from Colombia to here and from here to Mexico because nobody is patrolling these borders it's crazy
The 208A was aimed at replacing the otter. This could be as well, but from what MAF put out when they were helping design the Kodiak, they wanted a replacement for the 206 that burned kerosene and didn't have the rear door/flap interference problem. Putting a PT6 on any airframe gives you a choice between speed or capacity and MAF wanted more capacity if they could get it. The Kodiak can land almost anywhere a 206 can, which was the design target, and flies faster.
Inflation and refinement. The original Kodiak was designed for mission work. No frills and they were selling them for just a bit over cost to mission organizations. An almost similar 208A at the time was about 1.6m.
Soo compared to a Caravan... it's faster, gets off less runway, has more range, burns less fuel, cheaper, and carries almost as much??? Wtf is Cessna doing ??!?!
I fly this plane every day and love it. It is super easy to fly. I see you have a drone shot that I filmed a few years ago I Papua New Guinea. 😊
Dude you're getting as popular as Stevo

It costs the same. Also the Kodiak is a nest airplane, but good luck with the parts. Which means it’s actually more expensive
I mean to be fair it’s not meant to be flown at altitudes needing oxygen. Pc12 is meant for that.
Salesman did not smile... Good! Especially when you asked him the price and gulped he kept his demeanour. ))
All things considered, not a bad price.
@@elstevobevo 2m for an airplane is crazy.

Sure! While I would prefer to pay $10 or less, a TBM goes for twice as much. Gotta keep in mind, we’re getting into jet territory. Much mo money.

Quest Kodiak is a Beast for off the beaten path, landing strips. Awesome payload too!

Truck with wings !!! Awesome looking aircraft
Most definitely a fan, but would go Cessna Caravan myself. Thank you for the video!👍🇺🇸💪
What's the reason you would go Caravan instead of going Kodiak?
These videos are getting better and better. Keep up the good work!
Poor guy, can tell he's exhaust from repeating the same thing over & over.
Ill be buying one once i hit the lotto.... base model of course. Nice plane.

Absolutely amazing airctaft. Thanks for this
I Love this Plane, Still Learning about it... Thanks Mike

Great job Stephen Jones!

I think there is a wheel pant but I am not sure whether it is a factory option, i saw a video of a Kodiak with wheel pants in youtube.
I NEEED IT
had so much fun flying this thing in flight sim
Love that plane. Would love to explore Idaho back country airports in it.
Make more Bush plane videos!
Nice images of my home airport SADF
I love flying the Thranda Kodiak in XPlane.
This bulky turboprop floating point in air looks like mother ship.

Nepal needs this
a superb aircraft
Nice plane though. Powerful little plane.
Hmm good information, really looks like a 208 caravan, maybe a little smaller. The price point isn’t much different. I’d probably go with the 208
What would be the reasons you would go Caravan over Kodiak, besides it being smaller?
Is it a beaver replacement?
top.
muito bom esse avião.
I like!
ive seen Mark Brown like in 5 videos... He must tired of repeating the same thing to hundreads... hehehehe... good job Capt
Ultimate utility Bush plane is the turbine otter. Hands down.
At only twice the price...
Actually... I think it's triple the price.
But definitely an awesome plane, if price is not your concern.
Any tailwheel configuration?
Don't think so
Pierre Zheng Doubt there be any demand or need.
Why not create a new concept:
SUA - Sport Utility Airplane or Aircraft.
BCA - Backcountry Airplane.

Love the plane but hate the price.
Isn't that just a Grand Caravan? Does Textron own both Cessna and Kodiak? I m so confused....
this is a different airplane. Different mission also.
Two more questions... anti-ice option? Powerplant?
Mort Homer I believe it uses the same engine as the Cessna 208
It has a PT6 and they added TKS for known ice certification
How’s this spec out across the board vs a caravan?
A bit smaller/less payload/less cost. Etc.
is it supposed to replace a Beaver?

It's a re-branded Cessna Grand Caravan...
The Kodiak is a full sized van and the Grand Caravan is a Class B commercial truck.
Holy crap that's expensive!
Aviation newbies be like: Cessna Caravan
Over 2 million base price
A Rangerover with wings? Bad news...
Strange presentation 😱
2.1mil better buy a 208B with that money.
A true busch plane but is expensive
Cessna Caravan
Why does it look like a Cessna Caravan?
Because it was designed to replace the 206, and the caravan is built just like a really big 206.
How do you justify going from an original price of $800,000 to more than double in just 10-years?
Inflation and refinement. The original Kodiak was designed for mission work. No frills and they were selling them for just a bit over cost to mission organizations. An almost similar 208A at the time was about 1.6m.
bigc208 what you forgot to mention is some were given away for free to the same organization. Costs passed onto the consumer.
Yea I’d like 2 c this ☝️ 🤔
I'm a fabricator, I know I can built that for way way way way way less.
I think that was the most unenthusiastic sales pitch I have EVER seen. It seemed like he was not wanting to be at work or something.
Soo compared to a Caravan... it's faster, gets off less runway, has more range, burns less fuel, cheaper, and carries almost as much??? Wtf is Cessna doing ??!?!
Running a 5 year backlog on the caravan line, it's not like this has really hurt their sales much at all

2 mil for a fkying tin can, naw. Back to Cessna
2million...lmao..get out!
Sir, please stop using "I", its the plane not you personally, particularly when you addressing the buying public. tnx EdA
he is a test pilot that flies these things, so it's normal to use "I" from his perspective as the pilot of the aircraft
A wise component of transitioning from test pilot, to salesman... would be replacing "I", with "you".
Just saying...
