MY Safira docking with 22 knot gusts

- One of the smaller super yachts in the marina currently but still a stunning looking boat in my opinion. She came in today with gusting tail winds up to 22 knots and had to do a 180 in the marina before docking.
A job well done.i love yachts like that, built to go almost anywhere in comfort. Good looking boat, too. Thanks for this.
This is the reason I buy lottery tickets , you would not believe how many nights I have been in Alaska enjoying Safira .

Perfect size boat in my opinion. It can go mostly anywhere, can dock almost anywhere, more anchoring options, etc.
I'm a fan of the "small" 55-70 foot yachts, though if I were to get a super yacht, I would love a yacht this size. It looks amazing aswell.
129 feet is about perfect for an explorer yacht. Gives room for large fuel tanks. I, too, like the 70 foot range. Like @nautistyles has toured recently.

thnks2 youtube AI, this popped up on my screen. good vid. well done docking by captain, and good use of equipment. bow thrusters are a mixed blessing. indispensable when docking, especially when short handed. they do rob speed when cruising, though, and are another item to maintain/replace.

I love the stats on the boat, but I wish that you would identify the marina that you're in when you make shots like these. Great views of the docking, and indeed, they clearly had a job which was a lot more difficult than it looks to be - great job by the pilot! Geoff Rohde

I was hoping to see docking while 22kt wind hit broad side starboard or port to better my skills but it looked like the bow into the wind as you backed up for berthing. Great job though.
The expedition class vessels are a bit strange since their parts all look as if they were gleaned are from different vessels. They are terrific for world class cruising when most of their super yacht class seem to stick mainly to sunny climates.
Looks like a Nordhavn-inspired design.
Now imagine if the Yogi's captain was docking her... X-D

Having docked in 45 mph wind before, it is a challenge.

Am I the only one who finds the bow mast terribly distracting? I can't imagine how it must be for the captain.

The skipper made an acceptable job of the berthing, but given he has a DP equipped yacht and only a moderate breeze, its nothing exceptional
What class DP ? Its an expedition vessel.Just to add that wasnt the easiest place to moor.Get off his back admiral.He did an exceptional job.He used very little thruster work.He used the wind if you pay close attention.Good work captain.He's not a puddle pirate.

Today I saw a Safira Hit *4* Boats with the owner inside. They said that the captain lost control or the thrusters weren’t working.

Why do a lot of the larger boats have the forward mast? On this one there are some domes, but I see others which are just large crosses. Is this a holdover from past days?
Its for navigation lights mostly so other vessels that don't have radar can tell where the bow of the ship is and which direction it is going in the dark.
This was the yacht to lost control and destroyed a bunch of boats in Fort Lauderdale... Dania Cut

I hate docking a 22ft boat in the wind.

Really, so you feel cars are like cheating, we should go back to horse and buggy. Or better yet, just go back to plain walking everywhere. I don't know how old you are but that is a stupid statement. It is part of human nature to always improve yourself or we are still living in caves as the cavemen did. LOL
22 knots is not that much to handle for a boat that size, bow thrusters and visual guides at the bridge would have made it easy. Would be a nice vessel but I only call something a yacht if it sails. You don't 'go for a sail' on a motor vessel.
