- Alex Stepney is one of the greatest goalkeepers in Manchester United's history
While at Utd, Stepney won every major honour a club player could win. The League, the FA Cup and the European Cup
He will be forever remembered for his save from Eusebio at the end of normal time in the 1968 European Cup Final which allowed Utd to win the European Cup in extra time

I became friends with Alex in the late 70's when he played in Dallas, Texas.. they way we drank.. I'm surprised any of us are still alive!! haha.. Alex is the best!!!

third choice for england behind Banks and Bennetti, but maybe england would have beaten W. Germany in '70 if Stepney was given the nod over Bennetti. I thought he was the better keeper, but as a UTD fan I'm biased, but Bennetti had a stinker.

I'd like to see that game v Boro. Can't understand why Stepney's save from Joe Royle at Man City in 76-77 hasn't made the cut. THAT was a fine stop.

He was, he made it look quite easy, not one of those keepers who went in for dramatic dives all the time, a very solid keeper.

Matt Busby wouldn't have bought him if he wasn't. Helped Utd win the league in 1967 and the European Cup the following year. Couldn't have been that bad. Won the FA Cup in 1977 too.
