- I decided to do another Hollow Knight bingo, this time with the added rule of being on Steel Soul mode. This means that dying ends the bingo at whatever score I reach. The goal is to finish the full board without dying, can I pull it off?

Rando is a different game mode than steel soul iirc, both arent compatible

@@Lucy4WasTaken you don't understand how starting a rando work apparently : when you make a new file, at the point where you would normally get to choose between normal, steel soul and godseeker, there is a 4th rando option. So you can't pick both at once. And that's in the 4.0 version. In the previous ones you could only choose rando when you had the mod installed, with no steel soul option.
zord is really out there saving mobile users' eyesight with these zooms, didn't even realize how useful they'd be! good work as always to the both of you
can we please make Skurry aggressively yelling "Hey! You're pretty!" at 6:45 some sort of stream alert that audio is too perfect to pass up

Dream wielder charm actually buffs the dream shiels charm.
It makes it bigger and it can block some projectiles too.
Also fragile streanth and nail upgrades
@@penbloomfield3062 Nail upgrades wouldn't actually make a difference because the dream ghosts health scales with your nail damage

When I beat Uuumuu for the first time it was like a 20-cycle fight because I didn't understand that I could hit it after Quirrel did... I thought I was just supposed to dodge and let him hit it X amount of times. Good news is I got REALLY good at dodging Uumuu cycles.

Yeah, there are a lot of times during these bingo vids where Skurry will say something like "So, we need ____ charm" or "We can't do ____ right now" and I'll spend, like, 30 seconds looking through the board for what they're referring to
This makes it way easier to understand

I didn't expect a (non-modded) Gruz Mother fight to actually be cool! Really interesting, thought you had to run into things to deal damage with Crystal Dash.
Skurry is probably one of my favorite creators. Their videos are just god damn chill... Their videos helped me to get through all the homework in the end of the year and I now owe them my soul.
6:30 i dunno, i'm pretty sure on my first playthrough i met quirrel there before fighting them... and then i ignored everything about CoT and fought the lords with base nail. it was fun. and then i got to nailsmith and was like "oh, that's what i was supposed to do".
my ego was too large to upgrade my nail or use the cocoon lmao

the reason quirrel only shows up after you go to mantis lords once is because they're just telling you about the option to go to city first to upgrade your nail if you're having trouble with mantis lords so you don't just get stuck.
This is my favorite bingo board yet you've done, every single square was really interesting. Hope we get to see the second attempt!

I love how Skurry, talking about dream variants, says that dream bosses don't end steel soul, then dies to a dream warrior, which would also be considered a dream boss
Dream variants ≠ dream warriors. It only applies to Failed Champion, Lost Kin, Soul Tyrant, and White Defender (not 100% sure on that last one). Those ones you can die to on steel souls since you’re entering their dream/memory

Bingo suggestion: Beat Sheo only using nail art, Oro using slash dash and Mato using cyclone slash
I would edit this to be Oro & Mato with only dash slash and cyclone slash, since they're a duo boss and distinguishing between the two mid fight would be actual hell

6:07 Well, yeah, obviously. The entire reason he talks to you there is game design to let you know that you might wanna upgrade your nail before giving Mantis Lords a second attempt. And you don't have to die/quit out. You just gotta enter the deeper part of the village (as in, enter the room with the Mantis Lords) and then go to the spot where Quirrel is.
6:25 Like, no, by game design, telling you that before you fought them would be bad. This game design lets you try to fight a difficult boss (difficult for a first time player, anyways), and then if you fail, the game tells you "Hey, if it's too hard, you might wanna come back later, once you're stronger." Which is a GREAT lesson to learn for the game as a whole.

the reason quirrel pops up there only when you die to mantis lords is prob because he's used as a way to tell the player they can still upgrade their nail if they're struggling with mantis lords because often you find those earlier than city of tears. I think that's pretty neat

For anyone wondering, Uumuu takes double damage when inflated, but whenever it’s not, it takes reduced damage from all damage sources
For dream shield you could have taken dream wielder with you, it says only to do it only with shield, not only this charm
love how i can look at the bongo and half of it is things ive done fist playthru, ot because i had skill but because i was (annd still kinda am) a noob
For Markoth with only Dream Shield, would Dream Shield + Dream Wielder be legal? It makes the shield bigger. Plus, you can attack to send out the shield, which is technically legal as long as the nail strike doesn't hit Markoth.

I have a suggestion for a run: boss rewards, grubs, etc, only have a 50% chance of being there. This could also be randomised :D

Also bingo suggestion: Kill both Oblobbles in Colo 2 at the same time (skipping the second phase altogether)
It's so weird, during my playthrough, I never avoided the big jellies, instead i found ways to murder each of them while staying safe (i understood git gud instead of danger) so it always surprises me when really good players like skurry or fireborn are scared to hit them. (it also took me 15 hours of playing the game to understand you had to pogo purple mushrooms so maybe i'm just dumb)
They probably got as good at the game as they are primarily by speedrunning it, where those enemies would always be avoided because it's faster than taking the time to kill them and then dodge the explosive, on top of just being an unnecessary risk.

Honestly someone should make a mod where if you hit dream shield it'll launch outwards as a projectile and damage distant enemies, and make it so you can pogo off it

You should have looked up Dreamshield damage ahead of time and gotten fully upgraded nail for the fight.
Besides that, it said you could only do damage with Dreamshield, not that you couldn't equip other Charms with it. Some extra hp from Lifeblood Heart and the bigger size from Dreamweilder might have saved you tbh.
