- After learning that nobody had done a speedrun to obtain the maximum amount of rancid eggs in Hollow Knight, I set out on a journey to route it and do a run myself. Here is how it went.

I died to that boss at least 15 times the first time I found him. I didn't think of hitting him instead of just hiding during his head banging phase

There isn't a hard cap to the amount tuk can sell, if you use some eggs then you can buy more from tuk, there's just a limit to the total amount of eggs you can have sadly.

never seen someone in a rush to get rancid eggs. you can really learn cool skips, locations and secrets from a speedrunner when you don't know much about Hollow knight!
Should have collected all the arcane eggs and finished the run by visiting the egg in birthplace (getting void heart) and opening the black egg temple (and I guess beating radiance). I'd call that 107 egg%
I like how it's basically tradition at this point for every run to have one and only one thing that requires wings in order to complete it

if you have defender's crest on, lemm will complain about the smell and won't let you sell relics

imagine if there was a mechanic that made defenders crest do more damage or have a larger radius depending on how many rancid eggs you have
By the end of this speedrun, Defender's Crest would cover the entire map if Skurry put it on.

So what's happening here is that you're seeing beyond the darkness overlay. Normally it would cover the entire screen, but here because the camera stops following you in the bottom left corner, you can see the border that would normally be off-screen.
_The only reason_ this bug would still be in the game is that no one was insane enough to go through all of deepnest and grab that specific egg without lantern, and so no one ever noticed it, lol

That would INCLUDE this run, or at least kinda. You would need 80 eggs to get the text for not being able to buy any more eggs.
That would include path of pain and the pantheons
I _think_ someone's routing All Dialogue, which wouldn't be All Text, but somewhat close. It'd include getting 81 Tuk eggs, and most of the Pantheons

I actually wanted to max out eggs for my true 112% save where I did all the optional stuff like menderbug and the hidden rooms, but after about 3 straight minutes of buying eggs I assumed there was no cap and just kind of left

19:41 pretty sure fungal core is accessable without wings using stallball now, so this category got like 10 mins shorter, plus the queen's station millibelle thing allowing you to save around 3 more minutes, so anyone who wants an easy wr do this

I love how when I saw this video in my recomended, it said that it was uploaded 6 seconds ago. When I load in, there are "no views", 49 likes, 18 comments (even tho I can only see 2) and the comments I can see were made within 25 and 28 seconds. This is the youtube experience at its finest.

I think we should use this and add a bunch of other stuff stuff to it that could feasibly be considered completion in a single save file in order to create a “Super Duper 112%”run, where in addition to everything that actually adds completion %, you also have to:
-Collect 101 eggs
-Follow through with every NPC questline, including things like opening Jiji’s house, watching Tiso eat shit and die in the arena, and finding infected Myla (whether to kill her is up to you).
-Buy everything from every shop
-Upgrade every fragile charm to unbreakable
-Defeat White Defender 5 times
-Completely fill out the Hunter’s Journal, including entries that are not needed for the Hunter’s Mark, so you need to do things like killing Menderbug and completing the Path of Pain
-Dream Nail all ghosts
-Collect all essence from all spirit trees
-Break all geo caches
-Get all simple keys and open all doors with them
-Defeat GPZ 10 times
-Completely fill out the map
-Collect all relics and give them to Lemm
-Complete all pantheon bindings (you do not need to do all 4 from each pantheon in a single run)
-Defeat all radiant bosses
-Kill 57 Zote abominations in the Eternal Ordeal
-Find and whack every spirit totem at least once
-Give the Fragile Flower to every possible NPC
-Get the 2% chance scene from dream nailing the Godseekeer
-Find the Shrine of Believers and destroy all the meassages.
Anything else I’m missing?
Oh I have learned a fun tip for green path that fire uses fireball for. If you grab the attention of the bug next to the geo rock in the acid you can position it right below the platform and pogo off of it. learned that in steel soul mode, takes a few tries though
"Vengefly Spirit" is a requirement on the top right board.
Now, how do we get a spirit out of a vengefly and harnest it?

gotta love a speedrun category where you spend most of the time in royal waterways
A while back I had this idea for a modded gamemode that basically just gives you all bindings but in the base game (with maybe some added constraints like no map or journal). Anyway I decided that in place of all the charms and pale ore and mask shards etc., there should just be eggs. I think slurry would like that.
Oh an in place of Jiji/Jinn, maybe there could be someone who gives you like temporary buffs
That Yoshi Island music gave me some nostalgia, great speedrun by the way, had a great time watching this one
Team Cherry should make it so that when you have all 101 eggs, defender crest get's replaced by an egg and notch cost becomes 0.

I just wanted to point out how I had no idea there was a finite amount of eggs you could buy from Tuk. The wiki said they'd give you eggs infinitely. Odd to cap it where noone would ever notice it, but there's probably a reason. Maybe to make the number 101
What's weirder is I'm pretty sure they will sell to you infinitely as long as your egg count is below 80, so if you keep using eggs you can keep buying them. Not sure why they would cap it like that.

That sounds practical at the same time that it sounds pointless, it's confusing. The counter can clearly go above 100, and I don't think anything else that's renewable has a cap like this ingame. So odd
