- The Central African Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world, but it is also rich in natural resources. One of the official mining sectors has collapsed amid the country’s ongoing conflict, and now both sides are benefitting from the illicit trade of gold and diamonds. Clashes over control of the many mines have also created religious tension in places where there previously had been none.
VICE News traveled to mines located in the heart of the Central African Republic to see how the battle over natural resources is playing out in one of the world’s most violent conflicts.

Many countries in Africa are rich in mineral deposits but OFTEN exploited by First World nations such as US and Europe and Second World countries like China. The result is a massive inequality, which the country being exploited got nothing in return by the foreigners taking all the resources for themselves. There's not a lot of development of the exploited as their entire economics is so fcked up by foreigners. Add to situation arose by warmongers who did nothing but bring more chaos and instability. Often this tribal divisions are funded by foreigners.

There’s an African proverb that says, “if you want to walk fast, walk alone, if you want to far, walk together”. Ironic how we do not see this sense of brotherhood nowadays. The easiest thing to do is blame religion, but this is further from the truth in my opinion. We have a choice, a choice to think for ourselves, a choice to carry ourselves accordingly and a choice to always do the right thing; justice! Unfortunately when it comes these very poor countries, the poverty level is so high that they are not only materialistic poor, but also psychologically, which is three times worse. This situation seems to be more about tribes fighting for territory (ego) and gaining the upper hand on mining grounds (more ego) than religion.
It's sad because religion used to work on the civilized world maybe 400-500 years or more, pre europeon Renisance religion had even the whites in a stupor, I think the rich who really control the world let africa stay like this because it makes them feel better about them selves. And the average ones like us we allow it to happen because all we do is talk about it then we turn our computer off and pay more for a coffee than these poor people get paid for gold
