    Preying Mantis is easy as it only has one attack. Facing the opponent grab around the neck and start eating the top of the head

    The funny thing about Wing Chun and Donnie Yen is that he actually didn't know the style until he was cast for Ip Man.

    • @MichaelWilliams-mo1vv
      @MichaelWilliams-mo1vv 3 роки тому +2

      This is not unusual, the cast of 'Warriors Two' including Samo Hung didn't know Wing Chun before they started filming. In fact the guy who played the Wing Chun master was purely an actor with no formal martial art training.

      Michael Williams he was given training for the part by none other than Ip Man’s son Ip Ching for a month. And Donnie Yen does has martial arts training. He was the in the Monkey King back in the day, among other roles.

      @@batboy9997 Yes that's true. I'm even a bit annoyed by the whole Ip Man trend.
      Like people really associate Donnie Yen with Ip Man while Donnie has always been a very modern martial artists with incredible kicks and MMA type of techniques.
      Also speaking of Ip Man, what's up the hype?
      I mean Ip Man was quite good obviously but it's like Ip Man is the only Wushu sifu worth talking about lol
      Well Jet Li did make a movie about Huo Yuan Jia, but I feel all the hype is for Ip Man and Wing Chun.
      It's crazy how Ip Man movies and Bruce Lee contributed to the popularization of Wing Chun.

Mastering any one of those you already listed alone would take years with hours of practice every day. unless you're unbelievably talented & has no problems on focusing on kung fu training 24/7 & nothing else, you won't be able to even master 3 of those in 10 years.

    I think an honourable mention should be made for Choy Li Fut. Less well known, but perhaps more effective than many kung fu styles (pre-sanda). Their practitioners adopt a kickboxing style in the ring and have held their own as well as defeating Thai boxers in Thailand on occasion in their history.

    I started with Bujinkan, then began Tan Tien Tschuan, Tai Chi and a bit of Karate, Taekwondo and even Aikido and Judo- now I am learning Wing Chun.
    What I learned is that every style has its benefits and the kombination is the cherry on the cake for me. (For example when I teach my fellow practitioners some wrist locks- comes in very handy)
    Bujinkan is my root but what blooms out of it has varied so far that I lost track somehow- obivously it works in Chi Sao and Lat Sau :)

      Thank you! But, I think the focus is also on the individual player themselves. Most of my research lately isn't performance based but focusing on how to appy the techniques and adapt the art for MMA and self defense.

    Hi! I am a Western student who has become more and more interested in Kung Fu. Your channel is very rich and the videos are very informative. I would like to make a suggestion: when citing the names of the styles, put them in writing, in the edition. This helps those who are not familiar with Eastern terms to understand. It's much more didactic. Also, thanks for the content. Hugs from Brazil.

      Just incase you guys are nervous about giving a tutorial in a style that you aren’t a Sifu in just cut the b/s. You guys are at the top of your game right now, and better than most sifus out there. Nobody is going to chastise you and if they do, screw’em. Don’t let formality get in the way of your progression and what you have earned.

      @@HungGarEarthBender Interesting perspective. I'm not sure if I would agree. I think it depends on how comfortable they are in representing certain styles as well as respecting the wishes of those who taught them the particular forms. I have mixed feelings on the subject, so I'm down for discussion. But, to give some context my teacher cares a lot more about "secrets" to the point that I'm not supposed to even practice certain sets and exercises in view of certain other students in class. So, I'm in a situation where openness is basically not allowed and you have to pay attention to pecking order and who's more on in the inside and more on the outside. *shrug*

    Please, Please, Please make a feature film in the tradition of Shaw Brothers!!! You guys, I feel are the only ones that could do this. Your style and choreography takes me back to the days of Black Belt Theater when I was a youth growing up in Milwaukee, WI. I can't explain it, but you guys are the new Shaws. Do something bigger. One day people will be saying, "Yo, you catch that new flick from MartialClub? It was sick!" Be blessed.

    Being disabled I probably would not be able to any of those very well now. However a few years ago I was able to learn a little bit of Kenpo. I learned some basic get away moves a few punches(Forwared, cross, hook, and upward) and I am not sure if these were forms but it had around 3 moves to it. One was called delayed sword and the other I am not sure i wanna say defelction sword but I know that isn't right. I was only able to do it till Yellow belt orange tab though before i had to quit for many reasons. I didn't want to though cause I loved going. I also really enjoyed going. I also enjoy this channels as i much love for art as many of them imo are beautiful as well as strong. Please keep up the great content.

    • @varanid9
      @varanid9 3 роки тому

      Yeah, they (Kenpo's "delayed sword", etc.) can be called "forms", though they're meant to be practiced between 2 people. They are, however, different in purpose from the Chinese "fist sets" as forms like Taming the Tiger and Bong Bo, which are used to internalize the signature techniques of a style into the practitioner's nervous system so that his body becomes a living record of the style's syllabus. This was necessary because most people in that area of China a couple of hundred years ago were illiterate and they needed a way to pass on the knowledge.
