🇱🇧 Avoid these guys | Thugs hospitality in Baalbek | Dabke party | Lebanon | mE 18

- I finally reach the Beqaa valley, and after riding through a few Syrian refugee camps, I stumbled upon a group of guys who invite me for coffee. Then they invite me to stay the night in their house with their family, and I accept. That will turn out to be a great mistake. But at the moment I don't know who they really are, and I enjoy their hospitality. We make a small dabke party.

Not gonna lie but that's such a Lebanese way to get robbed 😂. They fed you and danced for you and fed you some more. In London we don't even get fed or entertained like that before getting robbed 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Fff
Makes it even worse not better.
😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great experience overall. That family gave you great hospitality and was generous. Unfortunately, ONE bad apple spoils a bunch.
i think some people among them robbed you and not all of them. maybe the hosts are not even aware. anyway, everywhere is dangerous
😆
This is the case! I believe only one or two of them roped you. They wouldn't need to show you their IDs and bring you to their home if they were real thugs.. they could easily rope you on a side street if they were real criminals. Glad you are safe. This actually could happen anywhere in the world even in first world countries. Be careful out there and I advice you to find a local to show you around when you're in poor or dangerous neighborhoods anywhere in the world. Safety first!
I enjoy your videos usually. I think you are wrong here. The people showed you good hospitality even when they themselves were struggling and it is unfair to have a title generalizing and accusing them all of being thieves and thugs! It could have ended up much much worse if they were real dangerous criminals.
Nop i think all of them ate thieves. I understand arabic and I dont like all these guys. But its difficumt when you are a foreigner to make the #
Dont think a thief would show his face to the camera and introduce his parents and then rob you. I think the theif was an unknown person in that large group who acted alone and embarrassed this friendly family.
You have a point, however Baalbek is well known in Lebanon for being the city of gypsies(bedouins) and were all car thieves live
@@simonvs5401 gypsies and bedouins are two different district people . I think you don’t know what you’re talking about, or just have a prejudice against poor people
What is the purpose of cutting bike rack then?
that's what I also think, Also they seem kinda wealthy, they have a nice big house and expensive cars, I think one of the guys, probably someone who works for them did it.
Exactly what i thought too.
They seem so nice! It's so hard to imagine they actually did that but someone had to, obviously. It's really a shame because it really seemed genuine by them and I bet it was by almost all, it only takes one or two bad guys to have such an experience and bad memory about a region for a long time
Worker? Neighbour? Huge crowd there
Correct
As soon as i wouldve seen that kawasaki up there, being completely reworked to not get recognized as stolen, i wouldve dipped lol
Thought the exact same
Yea it looked stolen to me as well.
It seems strange , if they were bad guys they wouldn't show you their family and their friends . I still didn't realize what happened .
Doesn’t mean the family was in on it. Lots of people will put their family in jeopardy to get ahead.
I'm glad you made it safe and sound and I'm so sorry that happened to you from people you gave your respect and your trust! Your videos are so enjoyable I am addicted to watching them. Come visit Los Angeles, I would love to meet you!
I just discovered you. This is better than TV. Subscribed!
This is what Paris has turned into
Sadly true
I can tell you are a very kind person who happened to meet super lovely welcoming people and 2 wicked thieves! What an adventure!
True, all the other people in the video are very kind.
That's a dangerous situation when you are surrounded by so many people and you are alone take care brother
I am from baalback and I am so freaking sadddddd because of what you just had to experience, these guys already looked like drug addicts and thieves, you shouldn't have come to such places, cz as I told you before I am from baalback but I would neveeeeerrrrr visit such places alone. It honestly breaks my heart to see such things, like I always wish that tourists would come to baalback and see how amazing it is but then such disgusting people take advantage of that and try to steal them
so sorryyyy for what you had to experience
btw I could hear them saying in Arabic when you were drinking coffee in the beginning of the video "poor him, he doesn't know what's gonna happen to him" in a way as if they were saying that you are naive
Can you please point out to where exaclty he said "poor him, he doesn't know what's gonna heppen to him" please?

Them people would slit your throat whilst smiling in your face.!!
I think the ones you met initially and fed you were genuine. Even to the point of giving you headscarf to protect you from the sun since you don't wear a hat to protect your ears, nose and necks.
The dance they are doing is taking utube by storm, I'm glad you showed it in slow motion
10:59 after you told him that you are from France, there were a few different sentences in a dialect mentioning trouble is brewing , basically they saw you as a money tree to harvest since are you from France and for them that means wealth
You are the third person telling me that. Thank you very much for the translation of what they said in their dialect.
Please be careful wherever you are because your safety is important to us♥️

Love these videos. Raw... Authentic... Real.... But, sometimes I fear for Yves life in these videos :( risking his life
Hello sir, I just saw this video after I watched your visit to my town Basra in Iraq and left you a comment on one of your videos in Iraq about the word “nus” which means “half” when you were getting a sandwich for 1500 Iraqi dinars.
I just want to let you know in the minute 11:05 in this video, one of the guys ( I think the bald guy) made a comment about you are going to get a surprise while you were there. I don’t know how to explain it exactly in English but the phrase that one of them used implied bad intentions. He said “ ferd alah ale” which means when someone gets in trouble. So basically they already Knew something bad is coming your way.
Now I could be wrong, but that’s very clear to me they had bad intent towards you and they probably planned all that in a short time and they had to act quickly. Anyways, I’m glad you are safe, and I know you’ll not encounter such a thing in Iraq.
In mind it was very clear that they planned everything from the beginning. So thank you very much for your comment, it does confirm this idea. Really, thank you very for mentioning what they said, it does help me a lot to understand what happened when I was with them.
You’re welcome

Hi Yves, I'm a Lebanese, I watch most of your videos thank you. Yes, I agree with Diaa Z that one of the guys said quote: " Menna Al aah Eleee" means You've been trapped". I'm glad that you were able to escape later and most important that you are safe thanks to God. This situation does happen in most countries of the world and doesn't stop only in Lebanon. The world is still good to explore and there are good people in Lebanon and in every country all over the world. My advice to you is to always make sure you've learned about the places that you are thinking to explore. Take care my friend and I wish you all the best, Hussein
شنو الشي االي قالوه معناه في شي مو زين بيصير؟؟؟
@@HusseinKefel tout à fait d'accord avec vous, ça peut arriver partout. D'ailleurs, j'adore le Liban.
The guy with the long hair organised everything, he's a bad dude through and through. He called the bearded guy because he spoke English to get you to stay. I'd say all the other guys knew you were going to get robbed. When ever you're around a bunch of dudes siting around doing nothing its a bad sign. No one does anything for free. Have a tea and leave. You also seem to laugh a lot, nervously. To these guys that's a sign of weakness to exploit and they don't respect that. Because you dont speak Arabic, its difficult to gain respect. Its best to be respectful, accept small hospitality and always be wary
Also, I've seen in your videos you accept gifts and services for free. I wouldn’t do that. If you don't want to show you have money in that moment, come back later to the shop and bring a gift or something. That shows respect and they will like and remember you. You have to match hospitality for hospitality. These people are not there for just your personal experiences and satisfactions.
btw I'm not being critical. I just watch your videos and think how I could behave in these situations to be safe, primarily and these are just my thoughts
I completely understand your point, and it does make sense.
Regarding the relationship with them, I think that my behavior did not really matter, whatever I would have done, they would have always tried to rob me.
Regarding gifts, I accept gifts because in the end I don't really care if people give me things or not (I don't get satisfied by receiving a gift, I never receive any gift for my birthday or christmas, because I actually don't like to receive gifts), and I don't feel that I owe anything to people who give me things, because often people give for themselves (often people give not to make the person who receives the gift happy, but they give because giving makes them happy, and makes them feel that they have high morals). And personally, I don't really like to give, because then I feel as if I was trying to buy sympathy
And regarding who dominates who, I also don't really care, if people want to think that they are better than me, or that they dominate me, very good for them, I honestly don't care.
@@KinoYves Amazing and thrilling adventures you make man!. I think you have some kind of psychopathic behaviour 😂 No offense man. Take it as compliment 😀. Glad that I found you channel. You deserve million subscribers. Your stories are dangerous and authentic like in old adventure books.
@@sports__moments You are very right. I noticed the same. Hospitality in that culture is mutual, you either take and give back, or your politely and humbly avoid taking from them. Most of the time, they are poor, and every little thing counts for them. Western people should understand that before making trip to those places.
I can't believe you went by yourself to Baalbeck! There are areas near Syrian border that are known to be dangerous where smugglers, kidnappers, drug dealers and criminals reside there. Even the Lebanese Army can not enter these areas without a shootout. I have never been to this region. I am so sorry you experienced this!
Yeah, I guess I was a bit optimistic. Though in the end, I was lucky enough to get out without too much damage.
🤐dinah this place is more secure than your “ USA”
@@KinoYves let me tell you something they say the media is lying and people are very friendly they were right but have came to the worst place in all over bekaa valley if have continued your path to baalbeck you'll saw the opposite face of this people
Are these bandits etc on the side of the Syrian Assad regime?
@@ELPaso1990TX first of all he said that they robbed him he don't have any footage or anything to prove that they robbed him second of all they are not
The people of these regions are good people (I believe their family is like that). But when I saw the man with the long hair (his look caused me a certain suspicion). These motorcycles, cars, Balenciaga (can be made in China) and elsewhere make me suspicious. I live in Brazil and this is a typical gangster from my country. The only difference is that they don't try to make friends, they rob you of your strength. Unfortunately =(
Never judge the Book by its cover. But Good and bad people are everywhere. Same in United States. There are some Homeless people who are sweet and Genuinely good. But there are other who will steal things so they can buy Drugs.
That's why (I think I can speak for many Eastern Europeans) we are so suspicious of hospitality of other cultures. Even if genuine, it seems too forced. When we see this behavior, the first thing we think is "how is he going to rob me now".
I saw a few Yves' videos, the hospitality blew my mind, but this long-haired dude gave bad vibes since the beginning. But I probably would've easily get caught in his trap too. I was so anxious just watching the video, because the moment he sat down, it was impossible to leave the place. That's why if somebody smiles at me on the street and tries to begin a conversation, I will avoid him as much as I can. "Expensive" cars, bikes and clothes are suspicious too. Yes, don't judge the book by its cover, but sometimes prejudice can save your life.
Most of the family seemed genuine, though.
@@pakan357 what you are taking about is inner feeling it can be right or wrong depending on certain elements and can be shaped by cultural values. But what I was taking about is media brainwashing and racial profiling. Having a thick beard does not make a guy bad. Many of the pious people in past before mass media had long beards the Abrahimic faith prophet, Jesus as portrayed in church paintings, many well known science figures such as Einstein, Newton, Charles Darwin the list goes on. Media want to make men look and resemble woman hence they keep promoting clean shaved feminine look of men as the heroes.
@Sensless I was also thinking there is no proof, but he doesn't seem like a guy who needs to fabricate a story for views. I judge the book by its cover and those two guys look sketchy as hell, so I choose to believe his story. My life doesn't depend on it if he lies.
And he doesn't hate Lebanon. Other the people were nice to him.
For me it was the hand tattoo and the weed necklace that the long hair guy had, lol. And having the nicest house and the most amount of cars in an area where it's only refugee camps is a bit suspicious. Most of the family did seem genuine and I think despite one of them being robbers, I think the hospitality is just part of the culture.

The fact that he is repairing a motorcycle inside away from the public eye is a red flag.
My guess is someone in the area did that when they noticed his bike and a new foreigner, it may not have even been the men in the video. This area has a lot of refugee camps which means the people are hungry and desperate. The family that hosted him seems very healthy, well fed, and happy. I doubt they have a reason to take from him. I will keep watching your videos, maybe there is something else I'm missing.

@@KinoYves In the video the elder one says something to the one with long hair in a very suspicious way, at 15:30, These two were obviously setting you up. I am very sad to see a beautiful family tainted by the despicable act of these two abominations. The hospitality shown by girls and women

honestly am your fan from kenya Iloved your videos in kenya but what you got to change is dont be too friendly to everyone all the time but also dont think everyone is thief just because you are far from your home it happens and someone had to do it but those guys I think that family gave you the best hospitality you will ever have from strangers
Incredible people of Lebanon!!....amazing people!!!
Don't even apologise or feel guilt, like honestly, you're a tourist and a foreigner who is there to travel and enjoy the place, the way you encountered them and the welcoming they gave you is common amongst most places in the Middle East and Europe, the unfortunate thing is the facade they put on which gave you a false impression that they were truly welcoming. I feel like most of the people in this video were genuine, and I feel like most people watching this video would have also accepted the invitation considering out of guilt, most people don't want to feel insulting to a potential host. Its an experience you'll never forget and whilst it is unfortunate, atleast you are safe and will be more cautious in the future. Really enjoying your videos!
Completely agree
I don’t believe they are all bad like you have mentioned that not all of them were involved. I think the family welcomed you because thats part of hospitality in Arabic culture. Its a real shame that someone in that house ruined that experience. It would of been one of your best experiences if the issue didn’t happen.
What is the purpose of cutting bike rack then?

I could see the danger already in the eyes of the guy in 5:01 approaching you and inviting you for coffee. THERE it all started! Some good rules for you..DO NEVER BE with a group of idle young people like this... Those guys was planing not only to rob you, but also to kidnap you and ask ransom from France, which can be very traumatic even if you survive it. There was some red flags, to learn from next time:
1. CHARISMATIC guy with the weed necklace, he seems to be the one keeping you distracted from listning to your inner alarm bells.
2. The over exaggeration generosity and attention. Ask yourself WHY do you think they will feed you and waste their money on you? Those people are poor.
3. The fleshy and expensive bikes and cars they showed you. Do you sincerely believe those people afford buying things lika that? They are most probably stolen or robbed from other victims.
4. No one seems to go to work. What are they living on? They didn't seem to do anything else than waiting for their prey like appear.
In general I would say avoid POOR areas, even if most of them are extremely nice, there will always be 1 and 2 who are taking advantage of the lawlessness in that area. And sometime 1 and 2 is just enough to make you regret the time you set your foot there. There is a reason why those places are empty of tourists.
Thanks God you survived this, I don't believe this was their first victim... The elders knew this as well, that's why they where not very chatty and kept low profile, as what they will do with you is part of their life to survive.
Accurate points you make, except for one.... the Arabs excel in hospitality and will feed anyone whether they're poor or rich.

A similar incident happened to me. That's why it's hard to trust people even after they have opened up to you. This was when I was studying in Orléans in 1997. I was an exchange student from America spending a year in France. The foreign students were also taking the same language classes with refugees. I had this classmate who was a Turkish refugee who befriended me. Eventually he earned my trust and was already visiting me at the résidence universitaire. As you know the rooms were divided by a thin wall that separated the area of the bed and the lavabo. One time «Çevki» (that's his name) visited me in my room. At one point I had to go to the lavabo to wash my hands. Unfortunately the drawers «tiroir» were on the other side so I couldn't see what was going on. After Çevki left I realized that my money inside the drawers were gone. I was devastated thinking that Çevki could do such a thing after me and a few other friends have already spent time together in bars and other social activities. I told my American friends what Çevki did. They were supportive of me all the way. They were giving Çevki that treatment where we were letting him know we knew exactly what he did. I even planned to take revenge by going to his house and (stealing, as he did) 😄 something of an equivalent value like a camera or something, but the American group convinced me not to go down his level. This incident happened in November '97 and I ended up leaving by January '98 not completing the whole academic year due to other reasons. That was actually the first time anything was stolen from me and it happened in France perpetrated by my "trusted" Turkish friend. 😠☹️

Wait to see his video from Shatila. I was worried for him all the time ,thinking get out of there..Shatila has a sad and tragic history . He is a good person and probably universe or God help him in mysterious ways.
you have an amazing channel
i dont like the attire of the people - that fast money vibe with balanciaga, watches and phones, sitting around all day - thats what i find suspicious in a country that has some problems with poverty. but i guess they most have some power/respect, as otherwise people would take it from them, so not bad to be friendly with them.
but for me its a cultural thing aswell, i have not a good read on people from arabic countries cant cant distinguish when people are really nice or just want something, while in germany if people are too nice i often am more suspicious :)
Nice
They are such a lovely and warm family despite the bad incidence.
Weird they seemed alright, but we can agree there was lots and lots of people staying there ...
woow man, now im so much afraid to visit lebanon , ill viral your story to all my iraqi people who might just thinking to visit such a bloodyhell land
Someone knows the music at 22:33 and 23:19? Thanks
Next visit to the srilanka 🇱🇰 plz we love you ❤️
Unfortunately at minute 22:13 you can hear them say mukhadarat in the background which means drugs. Therefore, learning arabic can help you escape and recognize that you are in danger in such situations by understanding their language.
True, knowing Arabic would have helped me a lot, here.
@@KinoYves True, once you know Arabic, you can rewatch this video to see what they been saying about you in their language
Lol! These guys are isis sympathisers , they haven't forgotten you french bombed the hell out of them in Syria.I can't believe you made it out of there alive. (i'm a lebanese guy btw)
Reminds me of that scene in training day with the Mexican gang lol
They obviously didn't rob you, some neighbour maybe or someone passing by found your bike and saw the oportunity, thieves are oportunist. They obviously wanted to cut the back part of your bike and take it away with your things rolling with the wheel but somebody appear and they had to run, if it were somebody from the family they wouldn't have to run away and leave the job unfinished. They were an awesome family, and they made a great video for you, is kind of sad that you thought badly of them. When you are in a dangerous area you don't just leave the bike there, you have to take it inside and close the door, believe me I live in a dangerous area. They were definitely not the robbers.
Kino you were soooo lucky to escape with your life. It is obvious that they intended to take your life.
تحية من العراق لك اخي الكريم
