    Keep up the awesome content. I’d be fine if the kept Speed Skin in high wear areas, or even the the face of the pad with the addition of the molded knee rolls. They just need to come up with something different on the inner sliding side. I’ve used Passau polish on my Axis set which helps a bit but it just can’t compare to my Brian’s set with Primo or my old Bauer Set with CoreTech.

    I use EF4s. Speed skin is trash and the sliding sucks (still like the pads overall because of how they feel on my legs). Used to rock P2s and those slid well if I pushed off correctly , but went nowhere if I was slightly off.

    Just got my hands on the entire EFlex line today, all came into my store on the truck. HATE the glove and blocker, palms suck and the closure in the glove is horrific. However, I was fairly impressed with the pads. More impressed than the EFlex 4’s. Still crazy stiff thigh for “extreme flex”.

      Yeah... I'll be getting to the glove haha.

      Get a 580 brake on CCM or True and you'll see a big difference in the closure of the glove. 600 and 590 are just bad!

    Speed Skin is the most failed fabric of CCM

    When CCM starts building pads in Canada again I will take a look. Until then I have no interest in a asian made pad. However you did do a great review.

    I had to use some candle wax on my speedskin. It slide way better. Almost to much slide. The wax stayed on for 4 to 5 games. Actually worked good using the wax.

      While it is solid advice, we are at the point where you shouldn't have to add an aftermarket substance to make the gear work as good as the competition.

    I can’t believe he didn’t call out the binding for not being recessed by the boot

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  3 роки тому

      It is recessed enough that it isn't usually touching the ice compared to the Bauer's that I always criticize.

      Honestly, I don't think you really do unless you grow out of stuff. The part I am most excited about doesn't REALLY effect performance and is more "I AM SO HAPPY CCM IS TRYING NEW THINGS!"
      If your current pads are working for you, stick with them 👍

      A recommendation, stick to Bauer or if you want to use CCM, but the Axis set because transitioning from a stiff pad to a soft pad is hard. Just my recommendation.

    I think more pro’s use weave outta comfort feel. They’ve been using it for a while and don’t care to switch to newer materials. Like Ik goalies didn’t use speed skin on the ef3

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  3 роки тому +1

      CCM first said pros didn't use SpeedSkin because it was too fast, then they said pros didn't use SpeedSkin because the Canadian factory didn't have it... There is enough negative feedback with it, that at this point it needs to be reworked.

    If you were customizing Eflex 5's. based on what you've used prior. would you go weave pattern for the inside of the pads for sliding. I'm moving from Velocity 6's with the Speed Skin only and I feel the pain of the dry ice stick.

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  2 роки тому

      Sorry you went from V6 with Speed Skin? But Speed Skin is only a CCM product?
      I don't like Speed Skin at all and would use weave whenever possible.

      @@HockeyReviews Oh I was just being naive & assuming the majority of inner leg material was speedskin, I didn't realize that was a CCM thing.
      My pad is just the standard material the V6 used for the 2000's, whatever that is. But, it to is shitty sliding for the majority of the game time & and on fresh but dry ice. So I'm thinking weave will be my next choice when I order. Thanks

    I’m not a fan of the molded foam. I understand that it’s the way of the future, but I feel like it will fall apart in chunks when it get hits by skates instead of just having jenpro that can be sewn back up. Great video and very informative, just not a fan of the product.

    • @HockeyReviews

    Have you heard any new feedback on these pads? I’m looking at these and non carbon Vaughn velocity pads. I’m suspicious of speedskin’s durability/appearance over time. Otherwise looking for a pad that allows for good mobility and will last 3+ years (beer league)

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Рік тому +1

      Speedskin isn't absolutely awful in terms of durability. But CCMs materials seem to be thinner than some other companies. But they are used A LOT so if there were massive durability issues you'd see it all over

    • @zacharykemak7225
      @zacharykemak7225 Рік тому

      Appreciate the reply! If price were equal, what would your advice be when considering a pro Eflex 5 set and a Vaughn V9 pro (not carbon). I really like what I hear about the Vaughn set, but I’m a little hung up on potentially passing up on a pro set, especially since long term durability is important for me

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  Рік тому

      I am not a huge fan of V9 without extra stiff thigh rises. They are VERY VERY soft and overtime that will wear down faster than the Eflex 5 will in that regard.
      But the Vaughns are VERY VERY soft overall and some people prefer that. They will also have Quickslide so they will be the best sliding pads there is (besides G6 with the slide plates). So you have to decide what you would prefer.

    • @HockeyReviews

      It is personal preference, I would get Axis because they fit in my preferences more. You have to try them both on and see which ones you would prefer.

    Is the upper part of the pad stiffer than the axis?

    • @HockeyReviews
      @HockeyReviews  3 роки тому +1

      The Axis is stiffer at the knee, I think they are pretty close for above the knee.
      ua-cam.com/video/u_i_0_N70SQ/v-deo.html
      That is the best comparison I can make.

    • @HockeyReviews

      I haven't used these with SpeedSkin or weave, so I am afraid I am not going to offer a suggestion there. I don't want to suggest something I am not confident in and don't have experience with.

      Terrible, but it wasn't weave what caused it. I have weave and normal jenpro on other pads an they slide better than any CCM pad that I have worn.
