I’m a 2020 21 day tune up-2021 SBSM alumni - beer was my drug of choice and i was able to leave it in 2023 in what seemed a natural way -sort of a non event. Irene said once that this way was the most humane way of healing and i believe it is too. Thanks to Irene and the whole SBSM crew!

Okay. I've put on my glasses and have to pause. Drinking and drugging, I do these well. Treatment Centers, I speak AA fluently and yes. It's helpful, but it's still coping, which I'd like to think that we share the same opinion... coping is not the same as healing. Thank you for your time.

thanks Rachel and Irene for this affirming conversation. very much relate to the sentiment of old ‘teachers’ dying out. I have expressed it myself numerous times. let’s see how that unfolds. Michaela

Some external resources I've loved recently:
Singing, to release sympathetic activation and help find your voice again (for those who were silenced a lot as children/teens, for example).
ASMR / bath with candles / Feldenkrais-based neurosensory exercises, to stimulate low tone dorsal vagal in the evening.
Walking down the street / going to a public place and consciously bringing my attention to dogs playing, little kids, groups of people, etc, rather than unconsciously being "in my head". Brings on board ventral vagal, even if alone.
The last one really takes effort to re-route again and again and again. But slowly it's sticking! 🩵

I saw a short from this interview speaking about how if you’re on SSRI’s you can’t access your feelings so this work wont work. I went on them reluctantly about a month ago - but this was one of my biggest concerns. That they would mask my true healing. I’m already so afraid to allow these feelings to happens, but I want to get to a place where I can. I guess my concern would be finally feeling safe enough to allow them & then can’t - and maybe not even being about to tell the difference! Am I still blocking them or is it the meds? What is the answer??
