    Thanks to @0dan0 for letting me know the bottom QR code isn't required, you can just manually power on the camera under battery power to remove the USB trigger script.

      @@asmetalworks No, the Trigger USB Power code only works on Hero 8 and newer.

    Awesome video, thanks for making it! Title says through 12 but didn't see any info on the gopro 12. Assume I can go to their website and figure it out but came to learn it on the 12.

      The process is identical for all 5 GoPro models, just be sure to download the correct GoPro Labs firmware for your GoPro 12.

    It works perfectly in hero black 9 except one thing … I press start button but the video lasts only 13 seconds and then stops

      After you apply USB power and it turns on and starts recording do you see a message on the screen "END AFTER USB DISCONNECT"? if you just see "USB DISCONNECT" you may have an issue with your cable. It is set to stop recording after 10 seconds from losing USB Power. I just converted our Hero 9 to GoPro Labs firmware and tested it with the QR code we offer in the links, and it is working as expected, it records infinitely until it loses power then records an additional 10 seconds and powers off.

    Super awesome idea! Please, does cable also charge the camera so I don't have to use battery?

    • @AerialPixel
      @AerialPixel  7 місяців тому +1

      A battery would be required as it is required to save the file after power is cut.

      @@AerialPixel i was thinking about it already as mentioned in script guide. Would be possible to modify script only to turn on and off by clicking the button ? And adding start and stop recording based on gps speed as second script? (Thinking about role model of motorsport dash)

      You can use the GPS trigger option to start recording, I haven't personally tried that combination though.

      @@AerialPixel: Could you tell me a little more about this "GPS trigger option," or where I can read up on it, please?
      I record my motorcycle day trips, and want the telemetry data for my "highlight reels." What I do is turn on the Hero9 Black or Hero11 Black while a bike is warming up in the driveway (or someplace, after lunch), gear up, wait a minute or so for the GPS lock icon to go on, and then press record (the camera is hooked up to the bike for power). I've found that if I don't wait for the GPS icon to go on first, the telemetry/GPS-lock may not start for some miles after the recording starts. Things get weird.
      I had hoped GoPro would put the GPS icon on the main screen, so I wouldn't have to swipe down, to check its status. Instead, on the Hero12 they dropped the whole chip. In any case, having the Hero11 start recording automatically when the GPS lock is achieved would be a nice convenience for me. Thanks -- Bill

    What about the hero 7 black?

    • @AerialPixel
      @AerialPixel  10 місяців тому

      The GoPro Labs site says there is limited use for the USB Power Trigger command on the Hero 7 Black, they didn't go into detail about it, so I can't confirm to what extent it will work and if it will have any issues. Unfortunately I don't have a Hero 7 Black anymore to try it out on.

    My batteries don’t last a full session filming 4k. I understand you have to have the battery to write the finale, but will the usb be powering the camera while in use?
    Also, can you use a usb-c extension cord? I want to dash mount the switches and control my external cameras.
    Thanks!

    • @AerialPixel
      @AerialPixel  6 місяців тому

      The cable will power the camera while in use. Your battery will need to have enough juice to be able to power it for about 10 seconds after it is powered off to finish saving the file. Yes a USB-C extension cable will work.

    • @AerialPixel

      There is a GoPro Labs firmware for the Max, make sure you download the correct version. It also has the USB Power Trigger mentioned in the video.

    The bottom code is not necessary. Just manual boot the camera under battery power, and the USB trigger script is erased.

      How do you setup for the code to be permanent? The idea of having to need the bottom QR code is perfect for me as then camera is setup for racing and doesnt need configuration all the time
