The key ring attaches to a lanyard and fits around neck...I use mine all the time this way when I'm kayak fishing. It is very quick and easy to access and it's basically a hands free operation...using my hands to hold fishing pole and/or paddle.
I think you should do another review on the remotes if you haven't. Maybe adding to your tips and tricks of the Remote maintenance. Cleaning of the remote with fresh water after coming out of the beach or salt water, how to clean remoter and not damaging it, some people think you need to scratch the surface to make it work some WD40 will fix the problem very easy before doing any damage to it. I haven't seen anyone with a good review of how to clean and maintain a Gopro Remote. Thanks
I used mine underwater for snorkeling and had no problems turning the camera on and off, starting and stopping videos too. Mine also came with a strap in the Hero 3 Black edition. My only issue is that it is not staying charged. Even off, it seems to be searching for a wifi signal. Unit is off and battery dies in a few hours. Calling GoPro tomorrow

How to charge my GoPro remote? I inserted the usb GoPpro keyring cable to the GoPro remotecontrol. Then plugged the usb end of the cable to a normal usb charger., then the usb charger to an electrical outlet. I had it there for more than 10 hours but I keep getting the battery low message flashing in the GoPro remote control window. It does not seem like the GoPro remote control was charged at all. What did I do wrong?
That is the same problem that I am having with mine. I just called gopro today and they are sending me a new cable. When I plug it in it will go to the normal function feature, but then warns me that the battery is low. But if I jiggle the cable, because sometimes it does not connect, I can get the charging icon on indicating that it is charging. I will keep you up to date on how it goes.
Do you know how to make it charge when you connect to your computer? Mine just says 'low battery' when connected and won't start charging. It used to so I'm not sure how to force it to start charging when connected to a computer.

Just and FYI... If they used USB it wouldn't be waterproof without some sort of cover. This special cable allows it to be waterproof.

The point of the key is to secure the charging cable.. and doubles as a keyring spot to put on a wrist lanyard, for example
