Always so funny to watch MashedPotato, I know people hate how he plays like with Aztec or USA but turtling is a perfectly valid style of play, and it is so entertaining to watch, it's why Kynesie is a bit of a fan favourite as well. Nice to see games like this instead of the FRA/GER toxic semi ff.
May I know this FRA/GER semi ff strat is ? And more importantly, why is it considered toxic?
@@hereismunna Because it's really strong, semi ff is the strongest strat at the moment, and you just see French or german semi ff almost every game. And it's also a thing because Âge of Killer hates that Kaiserklein does this all the time and wins, so people are clashing
@@hereismunna Semi FF is when you do some stuff in age 2, then you go to age 3 as soon as you can. It is a very balanced strategy in of itself, and it being good is the sign of a healthy and balanced meta. When it works well, that means there is no generally dominant strat, as the gameplan allows for flexibility and handling of various situations.
The people who consider it toxic are people who want an unbalanced game where their favourite pet strategy is dominant, or people repeating it because that's the cool thing to do atm.

Never thought i whould see the day of a "no military building", but here we are. And nizam fuzilier are quite interesting unit also.
As for the gameplay, even though brits did good raids, they should have placed the barracks not next to coast and make culverins earlier. gg for potatoes though, love his wack strats
MashedPotato is easily the shining most iconic aoe3 player at this point. Although I'm sure some would argue he's playing a different game entirely.

Love me some great bombards, favorite unit by a mile. Massive aoe and can damage things that are far away from the landing spot, not to mention watching it demolish infantry is just perfect

Blue could have just burned down the town center way earlier and won
He could of also brought his Calv from the back and taken out the 3 bombards when his initial base was being seiged but instead he circled his hussars all the way around and brought them to fight the spahi face to face

Love your videos, buuut not sure if it's you talking too close to your microphone, or you make it loud while mixing, but I always need to turn volume down to like 30-50% even though I don't have my headphones loud.

I use nizams and outposts as my main strat. Paired with sublime porte, you can do a nizam push really early.
That 360 no scope at the end was glorious.

Albino really blew this one honestly. He played like I would expect a 1000 rated player to play. And I know because I’m 1000 rated and my opponents are much more reactive and punishing then albino was

@@John-jk2nh I would make them a unique mercenary unit/shipment for the ottos. Make it Age 4, infinite but cost a lot, like 1600 coin for 18 Nizams or 200 gold from the saloon
You can train nizam troops from castle if you revolted as Ottomans to Egypt and get the card
all he did was get an op unit (nazar*) and go industrial, as *ottoman* the most difficult civ to use, and lose all of his villagers which doesn’t matter because they’re free. It sounds super negative to say but this gameplay isn’t impressive at all, and most of potato’s builds and civ choices are just lame options. We can give this guy credit for learning the most uniquely lame stuff in the game.
These kind of laming videos are in my opinion only enjoyable to watch if you are a newb in the game and it’s just an awe factor for you to see or you enjoy seeing lame builds and then maybe trying them yourself
Have we seen any civs played by the guy or builds that don’t abuse something? Or win by outplaying and not laming something? No. I miss seeing people use the underrated options because they’re seemingly weak and no one uses them for that reason. like how we never see rajputs or something instead we’ve seen stuff like aztec building lame, otto fi lame, gattling guns, walls and towers spam when he’s behind, be showcased. are we sure this isn’t sir callen behind this potato account? you have to be a potato if towers and walls become your best option to hold.
however it is showcasing a unit composition we don’t see (spahi, nazar, bombard) and the nazar that can take on a mass twice it’s size and just run across the map while snared buying all the time ottoman needs for industrial. I wish the channel would showcase players who show more ability like Aizamk, for example. Players who actually have skill and talent in the game. The classic “aiz pops”. I’ll say it again. As you said, he is lame... Lame strats aren't OP, they are annoying. In the previous game he spammed gatlings behind walls, how do you counter them? Colvs and mortars. What did its enemy do? Massed infantry and cav.
Same here, he has at best 20 villes against 50-60! What his opponent does? Circlejerks in the second age instead of being outside his TC the entire game, idling him and then going age 3 with two Falcs and killing the TC, gg easy! But no.
We are at to a point where most civs are one trick ponnies and the game has become so predictable that gets boring. You know that Brits will stay age2 and manor boom, that spanish/Ottos will FF, that Russians/Haudenease will rush etc. Its a strategy game and we use the same strategy every game. In the end do we really think a strategy or do we do what drongo says in his videos. I say Potato thinks more than the average AoE player that blindly follows a built every game.
As Dimitri said, brit player has to hard rush in second age, instead he took his time to destroy all the TPs for what...
@@dimitrisoikonomou3568 I didn’t say anything was OP except nazar but no, you’re right. but to corroborate with your bit on russia, if you rush, it matters if your rush is a good rush or you can say gg. versus apparently not needing working villagers as ottoman and being able to win. there’s talent in the ability to macro and micro early vs accepting you don’t have that and going for a build that doesn’t require any of that because you only need to know the build you learned and follow it. Going fortress or industrial and sending unit shipments requires less of you than using the 3.2k resources it requires to go industrial and turning them into units. Especially when you’ve lost more than half your villagers and you’re still able to get these units out because of the civ you chose. He chooses his civ based on their ability to be lame not the prerequisite of needing to control your villager and army.
The British did not play well it’s true I agree, but that doesn’t take away from the “loser-builds” the potato player chooses to do. You can do what you’ve said and not do the same things every game, whilst not abusing the game. A perfect example is Aizamk. Never doing the same thing twice and it’s always different. He still tends to lose sometimes because he’s not usually going for some lame build. This player has forsaken any shred of skill and replaced it with laming. We see “unique” builds “non-standard” builds from this guy you’re right but none of them are impressive he’s only showing us parts of the game that make the game seem like it still needs to be touched up.
Also if the british player did play better and won then it doesn’t take away from what potato did to try and win and the lack of control on his villager. If he was france for example he would be done but that’s why he doesn’t choose these kind of civs.
And with the one trick pony which I agree with at least when it’s that way both players are facing off in their ability to do that, play standard. when one player goes for an ultimate lame that can only be stopped with precision timings and such though. Unappealing to even play against that person when you know the game isn’t going to be anything except for the other player executing a lame build that will win it for them even if they have no villager lol. also in the game you mentioned about need culverin and mortar, that’s true but macroing for those only gives him more time to send more shipments and make towers, walls, more gattlings, etc. so it’s understandable to wanna push but you shouldn’t push without a culverin at least you’re right. I didn’t even watch that one and only skimmed this one because there’s nothing to learn here unless you wanna do the same lame builds he does which only shows people what kind of gamer you are and it’s not entertaining to me to watch someone do such cheese. It’s cringe that he’s being showcased, it’s only showing other players how to do then dumb shit b

He jumped two ages above him and he didn't rush him at that moment. It takes two things to win a game,
your ability to outplay/outsmart your opponent
and his inability to do the same to you.
I am not saying he is better than a player like Aizmack but he defenately brings something the viewer rarely sees.
