The hive is probably the most damaging part of the game, in my opinion. The fact that there’s no way to save these women, and all you can do is either shoot them or leave them to die just makes it gross, uncomfortable, and kind of depressing. And no amount of smackable wall boobs can lighten the mood. And Duke making jokes about these girls’ impending deaths doesn’t make him look cool. He just comes off as a callous dickhead who doesn’t care about the things happening around him. The line delivery at 25:53 has a tone I wish Duke would keep. Screw those alien bastards, I am going to get those women back, and I am going to kick some ass. That is badass. That is Duke. If Duke cared at least a bit and these women could actually be saved, this segment probably would have been a lot more palatable. Instead, it just comes off as bleak for the sake of it and shows off exactly how to do Duke Nukem wrong. I absolutely love the work done on this video. A concise, brutal explanation of why Duke Nukem Forever just doesn’t work. Fantastic work as usual, Jack. Keep it up.
It wouldn't have even been that hard to fix. Just hand Duke a "Teleport Gun" that warps babes out to safety, but it telefrags enemies. You wouldn't even need any new assets aside from maybe the gun, just apply the same teleport effect from the start of the game and remove the babes from the level. Now you're not putting them out of their misery, *they're saved.*
@@miimiiandco Duke isn't supposed to be a nice guy, he's rude and crude and violent. But he is meant to be ultimately a heroic guy who's in it to save people. The most exciting news that fans of the franchise have received recently is that the 2001 build of Duke Nukem Forever was apparently leaked online back on May 9th, 2022. It's technically unfinished, but some modders seem to want to change that. It's a shame that the other builds haven't been leaked as it'd probably shed more light on how much work the devs had put in & wasted due to Broussard's "perfectionism." I heard that the "Hive" level in DNF borrowed somewhat from the 2006 Prey game made by Human Head Studios (not to be confused with Arkane Studios' Prey from 2017) & was apparently also a thing back in Duke Nukem 3D. If there was a somewhat similar level in 3D, then it must've slipped under everyone's radar due to the graphics at the time. It's easier to get away with more screwed up stuff when using 2D pixel art or "2.5D" art than with somewhat more modern 3D art. If you want an example of that, just check out Hotline Miami! If what I've heard about 3D having a "Hive" level is true, then it seems the devs knew back then to AVOID having Duke cracking jokes on that level or made it less noticeable. I heard that most versions of Duke Nukem 3D overlooked an obvious thing players should've been able to do: save the abducted women! I heard that it was only implemented on the Nintendo 64! It's a shame that DNF actually REPEATED that obvious mistake as well!
It’s also worth noting that the DLC is actually better than the main game. Granted it’s not great since it’s tacked on to Duke Nukem forever but being ‘eh’ is better than being a dumpster fire.
Literally two jokes I just thought of listening to this video. Guy: "Duke! Thank god you're here. Duke: "Looks like I'm headed to Hoover in style." *Before Duke can get in the monster truck it's crushed by a falling alien ship.* Duke: "Dammit! I just bought that too."
Now those are some good jokes! Here’s another one. EDF Soldier: “We’ve got your power armor right here Duke.” Duke: “Power armor is for pussies!” *We hear excited cheering as an EDF soldier runs by in said power armor, tanking enemy fire and happily ripping the aliens apart* Duke: “I retract my previous statement. Suit me up!”

Anyone who takes the time to tackle just how badly this game butchered the actual identity behind Duke's machismo is a goddamn genius in comparison to whoever was manning the helm for the final game. The mainline games let everything inbetween the intro cutscene and the finale speak for itself. Duke wasn't just a badass horndog. He was his world's version of Superman. He was a paragon that represented everything good about what he stood for. Somebody on the dev team realized his most messed up fetish with that Hive section... and I've seen similar works, this is almost paying undeserved homage to some of the darkest stuff on the internet.
I get weirdest sense watching this that there was a lot of potential for this game to actually have an arc around Duke growing with the world around him. The gross and in this game horrific treatment of women, could be hard to separate from the brand, I get that, but that's why you have the opportunity to give him an arc. Make the suffering effect him. A Duke that's struggling to make a joke, not because he's got no wits, but because even he can't stomach belittling the situation would have an impact. It's possible they could have brought Duke back, if the game spent its runtime having him actively climb out of the hole he was born in. But instead they dug deeper and somehow broke into the outer layers of hell's garbage disposal.
thats when I knew the video was gonna be great. I always felt off when people would recite the same take on Duke over and over and I’m glad Bumbles addressed it
you know, of all things i was expecting in a D.N.F review from this channel of all places, a long borderline soliloquy about how it ruined the public’s image of who Duke Nukem was before it game existed was not one of them.

oh the 2 weapon limit was what it was ORIGINALLY...people complained so much they added the option to up it to 4 weapons...I know cause my friend bought this game on launch lol...
"Nobody told me there were water levels" You didn't play Duke 3D? The guy was an amazing swimmer (who could only hold his breath for fifteen seconds) and underwater sections controlled like full flight. Of course DNF was going to include them and do them worse, nobody should've needed to warn you ;)
You know, after watching this a few times, I'm tempted to actually get the Bulletstorm dlc and 3D on the Switch in the hopes that it somehow sparks a renaissance movement for Duke because he deserves better than to go out because of this mess of a game. We KNOW how to do 90s tribute well if The Expendables is any indication so I see no reason why we can't get Duke right and back on his feet.
It's been 3 months, and I am 100% sure some commenter has already said this, but... the reason there's an option for 2 or 4 guns was because there were a LOT of complaints at launch about the 2 gun limit, so they patched in the 4 gun limit - which allowed you to potentially carry around required guns that could actually possibly do a bit of damage.
"18th favorite youtuber." That's...probably accurate, on my end. Which, considering the sheer number I'm subscribed to, is actually pretty good. Some of his more recent videos might even get me to bump him up a place or two.

Damn it Bumbles McCookieCrumbles, every time you put on that darn Discord "someone joined the voice call" badoop, I had a flipping genetic reshuffling of biblical proportions. EACH TIME! With that said, the video was fantastic! I hope all is well over on your side.
Funny enough while the Olsen Twins/Paris Hilton references were dated the women wanting to stick you up their hoohaa was coincidentally topical. Like 3 months before the game launched there was an 1100% increase in giantess porn searches (for a while I had to keep an eye on trends and this was the first real anomaly I ran across which is why I remember it). So the stopped clock was kinda right that time... I mean it still wasn't super popular, just over 10x as popular as before.
@AbsolX Guardian Wasn't my job, just helping out a friend by compiling the rise and fall of trends over a period of several years to see how long after the trends started would they hit their peak. I did find that porn trends normally move much slower than other trends, the giantess trend was bizarrely fast moving. So if you were wanting to capitalize on them you actually had a lot of time compared to something like UA-cam where you have the option of either acting instantly or waiting a bit and attempting to act definitively.

Somebody on the dev team realized his most messed up fetish with that Hive section... and I've seen similar works, this is almost paying undeserved homage to some of the darkest stuff on the internet.
Wow I never would have thought Erebus would be such a nice boss!
I still love that my childhood FPS "Serious Sam" make fun of Duke.
Hello, I'm a sadist, and I want Bumbles to play the DLC.
"Nice opinion, did a youtuber give it to ya?" may honestly e one of the best insults I have ever heard.
35:20
"That's a nice opinion, did a UA-camr give it to you?"
I was not ready for that line. That was absolutely scathing.
thats when I knew the video was gonna be great.
So when do I get to throw the sun at Dic Kickem
DNF=dumb as fuck
Love your channel so much, truly
Seeing your videos in my feed is always a treat
Came for Duke Nukem Forever, stayed for the funny pig gif
Actually I was thinking "Oh boy, refreshing the page every hour has paid off! Jack is BACK!"
Jack-man and the Dukely Adventures
21:54 and for that reference, I am legally obligated to say that you’re now (less) legally obligated to make a Homestar Runner video at some point. Either a retrospective or just one on SBCG4AP. Your choice, obviously no one can force ya.
Keep up the great work man! Love the videos, it helps me get through the day!
At least Duke Nukem became a meme, making him relivent for generations.
oh the 2 weapon limit was what it was ORIGINALLY...people complained so much they added the option to up it to 4 weapons...I know cause my friend bought this game on launch lol...
Jesus Christ, your Duke impressions had me dying. Thank god something actually funny came out of this game.
52:14 What's equally likely is George saw how well Shenmue had been received back when it was brand new.
He really tried his best to put off the actual review, but in the end it just wasn't enough.
I've only watched this 3 times in 24 hours because moderation is important.
All I can think about with The Hoover Dam section is LittleKuriboh going mad and screaming about badgers and mushrooms.
"Nobody told me there were water levels"
You didn't play Duke 3D? The guy was an amazing swimmer (who could only hold his breath for fifteen seconds) and underwater sections controlled like full flight.
Of course DNF was going to include them and do them worse, nobody should've needed to warn you ;)
i'll have you know mr BMF you're like my 3th favorite youtuber, keep up the good work dude i love your videos
39:02 me when in a GTA stri- gentleman’s club
great video
love how you "tried" to have a theme month last month but kept changing the theme and this month you made one by accident
Fun fact the ability to use 4 weapons was initially a update to to the game after complaints
I like how my 18th favorite youtuber is continuing the big kablooey saga
bumbles, don't sell yourself short. your ATLEAST my 7th favorite youtuber.
Anyone else notice how much less we talk about Duke Nukem now that this game is released?
Ive heard rumors of a remake of forever. So only like 70 years to go lol
I love how all of the music is from shadow the hedgehog. It's so fitting.
It's been 3 months, and I am 100% sure some commenter has already said this, but... the reason there's an option for 2 or 4 guns was because there were a LOT of complaints at launch about the 2 gun limit, so they patched in the 4 gun limit - which allowed you to potentially carry around required guns that could actually possibly do a bit of damage.
what’s baffling is that the option to carry 4 ONLY came to PC. Console is still stuck with 2 weapons despite getting the DLC that introduced it
"18th favorite youtuber."
That's...probably accurate, on my end. Which, considering the sheer number I'm subscribed to, is actually pretty good. Some of his more recent videos might even get me to bump him up a place or two.
0:18 sorry markplier is the 18 I can just fill you in the…1…favorite UA-camr ever
Sweet christ, this video has so much of everything I love about this channel. Out of respect for your suffering with this game, I'm gonna go back to your Metal Gear Rising Revengence video, just to watch you enjoy a game.
This is easily the only good video I’ve seen on Duke Nukem Forever.
Damn it Bumbles McCookieCrumbles, every time you put on that darn Discord "someone joined the voice call" badoop, I had a flipping genetic reshuffling of biblical proportions. EACH TIME!
With that said, the video was fantastic! I hope all is well over on your side.
Don’t sell yourself
Short man, your my 15th favorite UA-cam
Duke Nukem Forever.
“Yeah that’s a fetish” the game.
at 14:33. TELL US ABOUT THOSE LAWSUITS DAMMIT WE WANT PETTY LEGAL DRAMA!!!!!!
Every video needs a cool gif the creator found in the corner
My soul died a slow and painful death the second you said "water level."
Was the increase because of shrink high or was it something else
@@ultimapower6950 Don't know, never found out exactly what caused the increase.
Why is your job observing porn search trends?
@AbsolX Guardian Wasn't my job, just helping out a friend by compiling the rise and fall of trends over a period of several years to see how long after the trends started would they hit their peak. I did find that porn trends normally move much slower than other trends, the giantess trend was bizarrely fast moving. So if you were wanting to capitalize on them you actually had a lot of time compared to something like UA-cam where you have the option of either acting instantly or waiting a bit and attempting to act definitively.
18th favorite youtuber is exactly how i would describe this channel
As someone named Duke, this video is kind of a trip to get through lol.
"it's the funny sex number and if you don't laugh you're "the gay""
*stares at my queer flag* ........ weeeeelllllll-
The best summary of this game I have seen so far.
Funny how he just uses the dark monarch monster card from Yu-Gi-Oh.
0:14 HEY. You're in my top 10 at least. Don't sell yourself short. I get hella excited when I see you post.
28:15 Duke Nukem if it was written by Vivziepop
