- Welcome back to #Vlognukah! For our penultimate day, I'm taking you through our colourful living room/kitchen transformation 💛🧡 Since we're staying in this flat for a few more years AND I've handed in my notice at my work studio, we needed to make a few changes to make the space more liveable for our family. Spoiler: we need MORE STORAGE. We'll be painting the walls a fun bright colour, getting some custom cabinetry, and generally making the room work better for us practically AND emotionally. What do you think??

Your style is like the opposite of “sad beige mums” it’s so bright and happy!! Also supposedly super good for childrens’ development!!
I would strongly recommend putting one of those rubber bumper dots on either the fridge door or the wood that it’s hitting! You may not be flinging those doors open right now but the first time you do you’ll wind up with a lovely dent and scratch 😅 (speaking from experience here lol)
The colours just radiate happiness! I feel like this would be such a fun environment for working from home 😊
Looks amazing! You can buy strips of wood veneer to cover up the gap by the fridge. Or you could go crazy and buy a strip of LED lights to stick there and have a cool light feature! Also, if you’re painting samples you can buy some lining paper (or take some off the roll in B&Q) and paint your samples onto them and stick them on the wall, then you don’t have to worry about painting over them later. Also really handy for moving them around to see how the colour changes in different lights 😊
The fridge needed to stand for a while because it allows the liquid coolant to settle after it was laid down to change the door orientation - although most times it's recommended because they are normally tipped/jostled during delivery! Highly recommend Warburton's bagel thins to solve the bagel dilemma -stick the pack in the freezer and pull out as needed, separate the two halves and stick em in the toaster to defrost/toast. They last forever, even if you're a one bagel a week kind of girlie like me 😅
i do all of my bread this way. I'm going to toast it anyway and can't keep it fresh otherwise
YES - as a single girl who shops for one this is a must. I make bread and bagels last for as long as two months this way.
This is delightful! I think your collective style, though, might be "Hannah Witton brand colors" 😂 Which is not a bad thing, it's a great palette, but as you were going through the colors I was like "this feels familiar" 😂 So much fun to watch!
The organization of this entire transformation is soooo satisfying!
Highly recommend getting the IKEA fridge turntable (snurrad) for the top shelf of the fridge. It makes it possible to reach the stuff at the back really easily.
I know you were excited about the bread bin but you could return it and save space (and avoid waste) by freezing your bread, crumpets etc. I just defrost the slices in the microwave as and when i need bread or chuck in the toaster from frozen.
I was SO afraid of the bright yellow (as if it was my living room, lol) but it turned out so nice and cozy! 😮🎉
i was just about to comment “HANNAH YOU LOOK SO GOOD IN BLACK” and then immediately you commented on how you’re not supposed to wear black
I think it works because of how dark her eyes are - I thought it looked nice as well!

You can keep bread in in the freezer and toast slices as you need them. Then you never have to worry about it going mouldy.
Short girl with a tall fridge here, my advice for the top shelves would be: clear containers with a handle in the front! That way you can pull out the entire thing, bring it down, take what you need and put it back without stuff getting lost at the back of the fridge or being out of reach! Also, easier to clean a container than the entire shelf when you have spills. Lidl often has some 'fridge organizers' for a few euros and they work really well for that.
If you need more storage I feel like there is the opportunity for those skinny shoe cabinets on your hallway since it’s pretty wide. They take so little space and are great to keep everything, not just shoes.
i feel like its wide enough for Billy Bookcases even!
The excitement when I realised we now have the same fridge 😂🥶 We’ve had it for a year now and it’s just as amazing as we thought it would be! We are also a family of 3 (soon to be 4!) with a small child and it’s perfect (despite the fact that I’m also vertically challenged 😅)
A little tip for anyone who got inspired to paint their walls (highly recommend doing it! It can change a space soo much!) Cover your swatches with white paint before you paint the entire wall in your chosen colour! :)

It's probably too late now but I feel like the old TV storage unit could've been perfect for Rowan's room. It's low enough for him to reach the shelves and drawers, and the top could be used as a table or bench.

This video brought me so much joy! At first, I was nervous about how the yellow paint would look (and I couldn't quite process that particular shade of yellow), and then when you showed the process of painting and the finished room it was such a wonderful surprise - the whole room is vivid yet not overwhelming, it's so warm and inviting! It was so, so sweet to witness Rowan's exclamation at the new cabinetry. Also such a pleasure to see how you and Dan work together and approach challenges in such collaborative and creative ways. Maybe use the hallway for some narrow shelves for books as the unit in the living room looks quite full already.
You could glue some mosaic on the exposed wood/cork in a fun color or just match the oven/fridge
Love the renovation! My partner and I recently got a new fridge we had been dreaming about for ages (with more freezer space) so I really identified with that part. Three weeks on and I'm still admiring it 😂

As the owner of a fridge that is slightly too large so the door doesn’t open all the way, it’s mostly fine except for when (as you discovered) you want to move the shelves around or fully take out the drawer. It will end up with a dent on it where it hits the doorframe though, accept this into your heart
Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard when the shelf fell! Perfect comedic timing. I also COMPLETELY relate to your struggle to get the shelves back in-- I've gone through that too and it's not fun!

We have the same fridge!! THE FREEZER IS SO HUGE, we love 🙌
7:10 the compressor in your fridge has oil in it for lubrication, and sometimes during transport some of that oil will leak into the refrigerant lines, which is no good. Waiting to turn it on after installation allows any oil to settle back out of there and back into the compressor.

Such a fun makeover. At the beginning the year I also realised I would have to stay in my current apartment for another few years and subsequently started to decorate the space nice and colourful to cope with the frustration of having to live in a part of the city that I really don't wanna live on
Ahh lovely! My husband and I were chatting this morning and the function of your home has to change sooooo much when you have kids, in ways you dont realise! We had our kitchen re done this year cos it just couldn't cope with 4 people using it anymore.
Leena said in the video premiere that it is possible for creators to have multiple thumbnails to see which ones perform best. In case you did that (and didn't just change from a great thumbnail to an ehhh one, personal opinion here), I have been seeing the one with the before and after and just now saw the one where you and Dan stand in front of that yellow wall. I prefer the one with the before and after (or possibly a combination), because it kind of fits the video better (if you haven't seen the video and don't know that there will be a yellow wall)

Love this video! I also have a yellow wall in my livingroom/kitchen and it was the best decision I could have made. Absolutely necissary because of the lack of natural light in the space. Although in combination with other colours in the space my boyfriend calls the style 'exploding rainbow' ;)

Love the transformation! On one of the other vlogs you were having a clothes clear out - I think you could fit another slim wardrobe next to the existing one in the bedroom for even more storage or long dresses/coats!
A happy colour and extra storage 👌 oh! You can search for one of those tables that can be small and it can turn to 3 times longer or bigger they fold to be smaller, I at least found them pretty useful.
Also I don't know if you like that but you can put the bookshlefs in the hallway like a library

I’ve got a rec for a great kitchen caddy that hangs over a bottom cabinet door & has a 2-way lid if you’re interested - you can bush things right off the counter /butchers block straight into the caddy!!

7:50 for the cork bit in the kitchen, you could get some simple trim from a hardware store to cover it up or edge band it using a household iron.

My bedroom as a 15 year old when I first posted UA-cam videos was yellow and ngl it was great for lighting videos. Haha.
I am also always looking for more clever hacks and ideas for better organizing and arranging stuff around the house, especially when different roommates of ours move in and out and we have different needs. Love the satisfaction of when one thing moves and other things find better places. Optimizing for current needs ftw!

If ever you wanna fill in that little bit of exposed board by the fridge, most b&qs will cut wood down to size for you so you could just have a little bit of wood cut and paint it.

I’m basically using Gloomhaven and Frosthaven as a side table in my apartment now so I love that your shelves are able to accommodate the giganticness of it!!!

Bread stays good for months in my fridge! It gets a little dry after a while but doesn’t go off!
Depending on your hallway width you could really leverage that for more storage and maybe even a fold down desk if you need one! Had that revelation in my current rented flat - hallway often underused! :)

IKEA sells an inside cupboard roll out bin if you have any cupboard space you use. Or you can also get ones that sit over the door inside a cupboard if you find youre wanting the counter space back

23:52 I was just thinking that you looked really good even though you’re wearing black as a spring! I think some springs have a level of contrast high enough that black can work, like me I’m a bright spring so I can wear a warm black and look good
