  • This is my 2013 Tesla Model S 85 RWD project car. I purchased this a few days ago for the bargain price of $10,500. It has a few issues and in this video I address the 12v battery replacement that is needed.

Thank you, I have this exact car, year, color, and rotor scoring issue. Replacing the 12 V battery. Thank you for the clarification on the standalone utility battery needing to function with lead acid in cold weather. I was contemplating replacing with lithium

About $280 (labor & part) to replace 12v battery on my 2013 Tesla Model S by Tesla Mobile service..not bad, considering the 12v battery on my 2014 Fusion Energi hybrid cost little over $200 for standard 3 yr guarantee 12v battery & it took me about 1 hr of my own time to replace the 12v battery. Time is money...

G'day mate, I have a 2015 model S and due to the pending 3G shut down in Australia in June this year I decided to upgrade the MCU to MCU2 with the radio module. My issue with this, according to the Tesla website and a tech I spoke to, it was supposed to come with DAB+ but it did not. I spoke to Tesla on this and they stated the older model S cannot have DAB+ as they did not come with the DAB+ antenna. Anyhow great video and I look forward to more videos. Subscribed.

That clunck can probably be fixed with special grease in both driving shafts or if this is not the cause it could be rubber bushings not being vulcanised any more and need to be replaced with a special press.

Good instructional video but had to fly through 7-9min of fluff before I got to the meat and potatoes of why I clicked the video in the first place.

The rear clunk when accelerating can be either an issue with the rear large drive unit or suspension pieces. Check for slack in the suspension pieces, they should stay in place with very little play or no play at all 👍🕵️‍♂️

Not a fix but I noticed when I set the regen braking to low mode… the clunking was noticeably less. Annoying louder when set to normal. I believe it has something to do with that. Hoping that doesn’t mean a rear drive unit replacement.

Get the MCU-2. I got a 2nd hand 2018 that has had to be one of the last 100 - 200 of them that had MCU 1. It's UNBARABLE. Upgraded to 2, it's a world of difference. I kind of feel like Tesla should do the upgrade at a much lower price, or even free. MCU 1 constantly crashes, hangs, sometimes I'd be sitting in a parking lot for 5 minutes waiting for the damn thing to reboot to even be able to drive again.
