She is literally connected to almost everyone or just one degree away, due to her involvement in Sixteen, Idol Drama Team, Sister's Slam Dunk, I.O.I, and being signed to both JYP and YG at various times. And all that before the age of 24. Also, her father is action star Matthew Douma. She is quite the force to be reckoned with.

Even if that did, I don't think that stop them from being friends. She was also in sixteen, but it was a real bummer for Chae when she didn't make it. But it seems their bond goes way beyond the music industry.
Also, Somi isn't under JYP, she's also under Interscrope and guess who's also Interscrope? Blackpink.
I mean, you know when set me free was released by twice? It didn't chart well in Korea, but it did really well internationally. To me, it seems like that was JYP's back up plan, was have twice sign with republic records.
