When i think back to 1984'' I also have memories at 9 years old seeing the older teens at the park with big ass boom boxes Playing Whodini Run Dmc And breakdancing songs that had everybody breakdancing I still don't know how i learned how to breakdance I just started doing it like so many other kids that was doing it at that time.😎
Man this was great!!! Very well told very well put together as far as hip hop history that I truly can identify with. My uncle had me record a tape for him on his boombox when I was 9 years old. This was so that he can go out could go out and hang out with his friends. This was the only time that I could actually touch his Boombox and I felt so responsible and proud that he would let me do it. The jam that came on and forever changed me musically was TLA Rock "It's Yours" This was the way we also grew up in some areas of Harlem. Well done bro in every way articulated King!

That was a cool video and it bought back memories, especially the Mr. Magic show and Red Alert on the radio. I wish I was old enough to get those Caz tapes myself and I didn't start to really frequent "The City" until the late '80s, although Newark was only a hop, skip and a jump away.
I was there bro back in those days but in Oakland, California on the West Coast. I heard the early Sugar Hill, Spoonie G, Funky 4+1, Sequence, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 records. When Rock Box dropped, I had never heard anything like it and it got me hooked. Run DMC is still my favorite group to this day. They made Hip Hop my music at that time.
