First off, roll dang tide! I’ve had my first pellet smoker (I never use it as a grill) for about a year and have a few observations. Except after initial start up my pellet smoker doesn’t produce smoke the way your Lone Star did. It burns pretty clean but according to other chefs you want clean smoke. Also my pellet smoker runs much hotter than its thermostat indicates. Using a third party, and reliable, thermometer my smoker runs 30 to 50 degrees hotter. I noticed for my first few cooks the meat reached temp much sooner and it turned out dryer than expected. I’ve got a Grilla Grills Silverbac but may look at the Lone Star down the road. Always looking for more smoke flavor without the hassle of an offset. Enjoyed your video.
I don’t know! There’s just something about a pellet smoker that just takes the bbq out of bbq for me. I can’t do the press a button and walk away method. It’s just not for me! Great video, Russ! As much as I wanted you to confirm that a pellet smoker can produce the same BBQ as an offset, I knew that It just isn't possible. I can't wait to receive my LSG 20x42 offset, which is now finally being fabricated. You're the one that got me interested in LSG smokers, way back when you got your offset. I'm convinced that LSG smokers are second to none. I really enjoy your channel, and thanks for all of your hard work producing these quality videos.
Thank you Robert! I appreciate the great comments! Enjoy that offset when you get it. It will be your baby I guarantee! I still love mine 5 years later.
Awesome video brutha! I have 2 recteq 700’s…have been wanting to up my game. Ordered the LSG 24x48 offset, really thought it through & realized I don’t have the time to really get good use of an offset. Canceled the offset & ordered the 20x42 pellet 😁. Really looking forward to it!!! Thanks for your detailed comparison, great job 👍
Rus thanks for this video…..my LSG pellet is seasoned snd I’m planning to to cook on it this weekend and am happy to hear the smoke flavor is excellent on it…..so glad I got this grill!!!!
This is not a comment on your pork, but I have an Asmoke table top pellet grill. I did a Tri-tip like a brisket last week and I couldn't believe the smoke ring I got from it. It was even fork tender. I guess I am trying to say a pellet grill does a good job, but I still favor an offset. Great video Russ!
It all comes down to personal preference, how much you want to spend and how much time you want to spend "tending the fire." I've had a Traeger Lil' Tex Elite since 2012 and love it. Personally, I don't want to take the time to stand around and get the fire just right and fidget with the vents etc., to keep the temperature just right. But to each his own. Good video.
I consider myself to be more old school. I have a lone star offset that I'm very happy with. I like cooking over real wood and managing the fire. I will consider a pellet grill when I am too old to manage a real fire. To me a pellet grill is pretty much an Easy-Bake oven. Set the timer and forget about it. I will give you that it is convenient, but nothing beats cooking over real wood and managing the fire manually. Just my two cents though, I ain't hating!!
Well I agree with your two cents LOL. I love tending to my offset and what it does to meats just can't be beat, but I also believe there is certainly room here at my house for a pellet grill. It's not my first one, but it will be my last.
What I like about this pellet grill is that you can add the charcoal tray and add some hickory blocks which will add more smoke. Low temp for just for the smoke for about the 1st 3-4 hrs then take it out and finish the pork with pellets. That will give you a lot more smoke on those butts...... if that's what you like lol....
Taste them agin the next day. As you said your were exposed to the smoke all day. I recently did a rotisserie chicken on my Kamado. And thought it was good when I first cooked it. The next day after work I did some refrigerator raiding and wow was a big difference in my opinion the second pass.
WOW.... Lone Star Grillz for the win! JD and Coke. Sounds tasty! The smoke that pellet puts out is pretty amazing. And your outside and you can see it. Love these blind taste tests. Everyone's taste buds are different. That said. When your rocking two pits that flat out smoke, Its gonna be tough to pick. Beautiful job brother!
Good Video, I have been looking at these pellet smokers by Lone Star and I really like them, we have been doing a lot of catering and the Big Green Eggs just don’t have enough room, even though I have three of them. But was worried about smoke flavor with a pellet smoker. I need one that will hold about 10 pork buts.
What I'd like to see is a comparison between the Pellet Grill and the Insulated Vertical (assuming you still have that Mini) with a FireBoard 2 Drive / fan... so it would basically be two pits, each thermostatically controlled with FireBoard technology, and engineered by the same company, so the comparison should in theory get much closer to charcoal and wood versus pellets being the only variable. I've heard those Insulated Verticals with about a 60% / 40% charcoal to wood ratio get damn close to offset flavor but with the ease of a pellet grill. Also thought that fly was on my monitor 😅
The consensus was more smoke flavor from the offset smoker but right away a couple of your testers said it was also drier including your wife who said the pellet grill version was more moist. Me personally I enjoy a bit of smoke flavor but can’t stand still tasting the smoke hours after a meal. Thinking of replacing my 7yr old GMG pellet grill soon and I live close to LSG so I could pick one up and save a ton on shipping. It’s either the pellet grill or one of their 20 x 42 offsets.
This could be the smoker you need based on your comment. I love my offset, and there is definitely a place for a pellet grill, especially one like this.
Great comparison video Russ. I loved the way you used the fire board from the pellet grill to see the internal temps of both butts. Smart!!! Looking forward to seeing more videos and getting my 20x36 pellet grill early next year.
Thanks Rus, great video. You are right about the smoke always coming out of the stack on the LSG pellet. I did a small chicken with mine last weekend and there was smoke coming out of the stack while it was running at 350, unheard of for a pellet grill. The clean smoke from the burning wood in the offset is hard to beat but the LSG pellet is coming pretty close.
For there to be a really close flavor profile knowing the pellet smoker is way newer without years of cooks and seasoning, I am impressed. The only way to due a true comparison is to have two brand new units that have just been seasoned and do the first cook simlutaneously. That is of course for the purists and not economically sound or needed. With that said I can say that with time the pellet unit should develop the same flavor as the offset.
Wonderful video, thanks Russ. And after years of waiting, we finally get to meet Mrs. Jones, the real brains behind Smoky Ribs BBQ. Now, if only my LSG pellet grill would get delivered, but I've got a month or two to go as near as I can tell.
My body has offset is barbecue always has a dirty smoke flavor. My family and my self all have sensitive palettes towards over smoked product. Everything turns out from the pellet grill so wonderfully, I run the silver back from Grilla grills. I normally burn Smoke Ring oak, hickory cherry. Once in a while, my sister complains about too much smoke not very often. Usually the complaint comes from chicken being too smoky or pork being too smoky never beef. My personal preference has been the pellet grill for about seven years now. I would love to have an offset, but I really don’t think it’s necessary. I get enough smoky flavor to please everyone in my family. I just think that certain splits with an outside bark of the tree give a dirty smoke flavor. I’ve noticed when cooking from my friends offset that if we get good, clean wood center splits, the barbecue does taste a little better to me.
Great comparison! I've been watching your videos and waiting for this one. I placed my order back in August and can't wait for it to get here. I watched yours being delivered and said shoot now I'm going to have to wait longer....got a hold of Chris to add the off road kit to mine as well after seeing yours 😉
Great comparison of grills Russ ! I like both of your grills. But I do have a question did your wife leave you yet. ( to many grills ) and where in the world do you store all there grills ? Thank you for another good one FRANK FROM MONTANA....
🤣🤣🤣! I use them more than he does! I actually grill all the time. I love a kettle grill because they are so versatile. I have used the off set to do 6 pork butts for a friends wedding.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ that's good my friend. You know I'm only kidding. You are a lucky man . And I love watching your video's. Thank you Frank from montana...
I think the five years of seasoning on the offset made the difference, we had a old cast iron cauldron that we cooked Brunswick stew in that was about 60 years old seasoned, we made stew with a stainless steel pot over open fire one year the stew was good but you could tell it just wasn't the same.
Nice video Russ, well as is customary, on your channel, I just have a couple of questions, 1- Between both grills, which is more versatile when cooking according to your knowledge 2- For this Butt, how many bags of pellets did you use? Here obviously the manufacturing quality of both grills is not discussed, that is above all they are of excellent quality...Thanks for sharing
I probably used 10 pounds of pellets on the cook. I would say the pellet grill is the most versatile since it also has a cold smoke function. Both pits can grill, bake, or smoke meat. The offset requires tending to the fire, and the pellet grill does not. Fill up the hopper with pellets. Press a button and dial the temp in. Just that simple. Also has a really nice app from Fireboard where you can make temp adjustments, program presets, monitor, and shut down all from your phone and it's WiFi. So the pellet wins on most versatile hands down.
I was planning on getting this same pellet smoker until I saw the price to my door.😳 too rich for my blood. I’m shooting for something in the very close to $4000 range.
*First off, love the video!* Nice work!! I really hope that wasn’t the first cook on that pellet smoker, cuz if it was, it did much better than it’s given credit for.. IMO there is really something about a well seasoned grill/smoker.. I’ve owned 6 pellet smokers and others over the years and my original Traeger is still pushing out some solid Q, and every time I get a new unit in I’m disappointed in that first cook. But eventually they do better of course.. Also, I firmly believe that your taste buds are completely stoned after 9 hours in the smoke 🤣🤣
Now that's absolutely awesome 👌 My wife actually sat with Me and watched this. I kinda expected the Offset to be somewhat better. And We ( My wife and I ) pretty much agree that You can't go wrong with either of the 2 Smokers . But You never know, were You to do another comparison video again. The Pellet Smoker just might win over the Offset. Regardless, I would love to see Brisket smoked on your new Pellet Smoker.... Thanks for sharing 👍
That's awesome! Thank y'all for watching. I totally agree that either one of these pits would make someone very happy. My offset has 5 years of seasoning and that was the first cook on the pellet grill, so I am expecting the meat that comes off of the pellet grill to just keep getting better and better.
Great video Rus! I have both Lone Star Grillz 24x40 offset and a pellet smoker. Both are great but how natural wood is burned over time vs a quick burn on a pellet smoker is hard to beat. Looks like the LSG pellet is incredibly closer than one would think! Subbed to your channel!
If u cook on that pellet cooker for 6 months to a year to get it seasoned. It will most likely cook just like the stick burner. And yes I have the Lone Star Grillz pellet myself. It's a huge difference between it and other pellet cookers. That thing never quit smoking. 😂 Do the same cook In a year on both of them and then test difference. Great job on a cook by the way.
I loved this video, especially because I have this same pellet grill on order from Lone Star Grillz. Can’t wait to get going with my ribs, brisket, and pork butts. Again, this was a terrific video.
I absolutely love your videos. Everything is so great and mouthwatering!! I was just wondering if you have an oil less fryer? I'm from the New Orleans area and I use my oil less fryer every Thanksgiving, but I'm looking for a good recipe to hopefully change things up this year. I do inject it and let it sit overnight, but I'd like to kick it up a notch and I'd like to see if you can come up with something to make it more moist and juicier with some great cajun flavors. I really hope you take on this challenge and look forward to your future videos!!!
Damn it! I’ve had my mind set on getting the YS640 but have come across several reviews stating lack of smoke. Now this is about the 4th video I’ve seen of that LPG and I’m living in doubt. I think I’m gonna need to talk with my pastor before making a finale decision.
Heyo Rus great and interesting video looks like both are winners to me . Truthfully I've never had anything cooked on a pellet Smoker they are popular here on the islands but from what I've seen and heard over the years on watching UA-cam videos it seems like the Lone Star pellet cooker has definitely been able to mimic that off set Smoker flavor which is outstanding. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Absolutely Stephen! I've been offered 4 different brands of pellet grills while waiting on this one, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait! Cheers!
Great video. I commented on one of your other videos that you should do a comparison video. I found it haha. I was wondering, any ash in the cooking chamber on the pellet smoker? Thanks! Great video!
Loved that video! Just one question, I'm looking real hard at at LSG IVS and wondering where you'd rank the smoke flavor compared to offset and pellet smokers. Somewhere in between? Closer to one than the other? Keep up the great work I love to watch your videos.
Man, what a great video comparing the two! I have really been looking forward to a video like this. I really like seeing that lonestargrillz pellet cooker. To me, there is no cooler rig. I am quickly becoming a big fan of lonestargrillz from everything I have been seeing about them. Very impressive. I love an American company that makes an excellent product! I'd really like to see pellet grill cleaning videos. And good to see a fellow Mississippian on YT. You are doing us proud!
Most excellent video Rus . I was thinking their was going to be a bigger difference in smoke flavor between the two that says a lot about LSG pellet smoker man that thing is nice .
Yes, absolutely and I normally don't wrap my pork butts, but I knew I was running out of daylight and people were going to start showing up for the taste test, so I ramped the heat up to 275° and wrapped to accelerate the cook time. 5 hours did put a nice smoke on them however.
Good video, Russ. I have noticed on my pellet grill (which is an inexpensive; more common one), that the only time I see that "thin blue smoke" is for a minute or two after opening the door - essentially while its heating back up after a significant drop in temp. I figured that was how Lone Star Grills would get more smoke; however, intuitively that would mean a less efficient burn. I wonder how the fuel efficiency is effected by the continual changes in feed rate?
Do you think the yellow mustard really helps? Or does it just help on time because you might not need to wait for it to "sweat out" when adding the mustard?
Russ - does the pellet smoker have a condensation rail on the inside of the lid? From the video, I could not tell. It does not look like it has one.. Now that you have cooked on it for some time, does the condensation run down and mess up the outside front of the grill? I really like your video. Thanks for sharing.
The smoker is in the garage and covered tightly right now, so I can't easily look, but I don't remember one, but with that said, I have never had condensation, grease or anything drip from the lid onto the outside of the smoker. Not once.
Nice video you will pick up more smoke flavor with good pellets like lumberjack, smoke ring or BBQ Delight I know you was trying to keep everything the same and you did a very good job.
I wasn’t able to read through all the comments but I did hear the offset had 5 years of seasoning. How new/old was the pellet grill at the time this video? Thanks.
Great comparison. I know I want a LSG and for the last year I was leaning towards one of their offset cabinet smokers. I was ready to pull the trigger when I caught wind that LSG was working on a pellet grill which has made me hold off on my purchase. Now, I'm traditionally an offset guy but there is something to be said for the ease of use and convenience of a pellet cooker. I was curious to see how LSG tried tackling the problem of the stigma that a pellet smoker cant produce anywhere near a great of a smoke flavor as an offset. It sure looked like the LSG pellet cooker produced a lot of smoke and produced a great color. This has made me rethink buying an upgrade to my cheap offset and go with the pellet cooker because using my offset kind of just limits me to weekend cooks because of working and what not. The pellet cooker would allow to me to cook on it regularly. My only real concern is I live in Michigan and I smoke all year round and we get some pretty cold winters. I'm not sure how well the pellet cooker would deal with the cold winter temps where I can buy the LSG offset and upgrade it to 1/2 inch or insulated firebox.
I have a recteq and smoke in our Missouri winters. Not as cold as yours but I’ve smoked below freezing many times. The LSG is thicker and would do better I imagine but even with my recteq I haven’t had problems smoking or maintaining temp, it just takes a while to heat up and I avoid doing anything over 325 or so.
With 3/16" steel the LSG will run great in the winter. My LSG Pellet grill hands down has the most smoke profile I have ever had off a pellet grill but it won't match an offset flavor. It is pretty dang close IMO and takes a 1/4 of the work to achieve it. It is fun tending a fire when you don't have anything else to do but 10-12 hour cooks go on the pellet grill overnight so I can sleep and enjoy time with my family.
@@jamesgunn5358 I'm currently waiting for my LSG pellet grill as I ask this question. Why would you avoid doing anything over 325? I don't believe I would cook higher than 325 but, only if needed, to hurry up to the finishing point. Can you explain why not please?
@@jima4303 mine struggles at higher temps when it’s below freezing is all. I don’t do grilling temps in the winter because when I open the door it takes forever to recover. Talking about wings and burgers and such. Like our buddy up in Wisconsin said the LSG is much thicker and should recover better so it may be a different story.
I think Dead Broke BBQ pretty much summed it up. Keep in mind, my offset has 5 years of seasoning built up in it and that was the first ever cook on the pellet grill. That does make a difference. I'm predicting the meat that comes off of the pellet grill will get better and better each time I use it, even though it's really good right now.
Great video. I know there's a lot of interest in the pellet world on whether the Lone Star Grillz Pellet Smoker would deliver. Seems it has. Also I love fireboard, I run a fireboard with a blower on my kamado and it's excellent both in all the features, the amazing app and web app, as well as temperature control on the Kamado. So it seems the Lone Star Grills Pellet Grill infuses a bit more smoke flavor than most others? How would you compare it's smoke flavor to a Kamado grill or other charcoal + wood smoker?
How are the B&B wood splits… I’m in Long Island, NY.. I ordered a LSG offset but kinda having second thoughts because not able to find local cooking wood 🪵
They do good. They are kiln dried, and may tend to burn a little quicker than seasoned wood bought from a tree cutter, but it's about all I use now days. Great flavor however.
I wonder if you used lone star grills post oak wood chips mixed with pecan shell pellets in the lsg pellet smoker, would it be more like an offset taste
Not surprising at all that a offset would be better, but how much time and effort do you want to put in? I can't baby a fire for 12 hours. I have a pellet grill and love it. You probably put in 10% of the work to get 80% of the result!
I totally agree! I use the offset when I have time because I truly love sitting outside and tending to it, but we are all busy and those days are few and far inbetween
I notice after cooking all day the flavors can be a little subdued. It sticks on your tongue and in your nose and certainly changes the outcome. No good or bad either way. I’d like to see the LSG pellet compared to the Smokefire. Smokefire has the best pellet flavor I’ve had, and that’s compared to every big name pellet out there. Haven’t yet had an offset but that LSG is the one for me👍
I'll be passing my LSG pellet grill to my youngest son soon. I just got a Ole Hickory Ultra Que. It has the flavor of a offset smoker but the convenience of a pellet grill. Outstanding flavor.
@@shawnsgear Absolutely love it! The majority of Ole Hickory smokers are built for commercial applications and designed to run everyday such as in restaurants and the smaller residential models like my Ultra Que are built with the exact same quality and parts.
The offset won out in smoke taste but I'm pretty sure they said it was also more dry than the one cooked on the pellet smoker. Either way, sounds like a win for the Pellet smoker to be that close in flavor.
The LSG pellet grill is in my opinion the best on the market, no doubt about it, but if you want to see how juicy meat can be off of the offset, be sure to check my brisket video out that goes live in a week from tomorrow. It was amazing!

Your welcome Jack, and we will work something out soon. Can't wait to just hang out and talk.
I know your going to be impressed by the amount of smoke this bad boy puts out! Enjoy!
I guess it’s time to call up Lone Star and place an order! Great video Rus, this is the kind of content is backyard hero’s love.
It all comes down to personal preference, how much you want to spend and how much time you want to spend "tending the fire."
I've had a Traeger Lil' Tex Elite since 2012 and love it.
Thank you, now I'm even more confused over which one I prefer, because they're both excellent.
Thanks for checking it out Tommy! I sure appreciate the comments!
Love your videos keep up the great work with the food
Part of that reason was the pellet grill was done last. The meat had time to sit and rest less time. Plus I messed up when I was pulling it.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ maybe you could help me convince the wife I need one of each lol.
Thank you and I couldn’t agree more
Sweet! Mines offset. Cool to see how they compare.
I totally agree! Recently did a long brisket cook on the pellet and I swear it tasted just like it came off of my offset.
Wonderful video, thanks Russ. And after years of waiting, we finally get to meet Mrs. Jones, the real brains behind Smoky Ribs BBQ. Now, if only my LSG pellet grill would get delivered, but I've got a month or two to go as near as I can tell.
Glad you enjoyed it Mike! Yeah, a rare appearance of Mrs. Jones LOL. Enjoy that pit when you do get it.
I just ordered one 20x42 Pallet Smoker from Lone Star Grillz :)
I was looking at his grills for a while :) finally decided to get one ☝️:)
Well worth the wait. Your gonna love it!
She was in the video, so she was still here a few days ago, LOL
@@SmokyRibsBBQ that's good my friend. You know I'm only kidding. You are a lucky man . And I love watching your video's. Thank you Frank from montana...
I think the five years of seasoning on the offset made the difference, we had a old cast iron cauldron that we cooked Brunswick stew in that was about 60 years old seasoned, we made stew with a stainless steel pot over open fire one year the stew was good but you could tell it just wasn't the same.
There is nothing like cast iron to cook Brunswick stew in! I miss that!
It makes a difference for sure. Cast iron does act the same way as you said.
Thanks for the AWESOME review! I can't afford that pellet grill right now, but when I can, it's definitely on my list!
Excellent comparison. Another great video Russ. Thanks again
Thank you, I appreciate you watching!
I was planning on getting this same pellet smoker until I saw the price to my door.😳 too rich for my blood. I’m shooting for something in the very close to $4000 range.
It's not for everyone, but it certainly is built to last.
@@danielploy9143 shipping is the problem. I’d pay the $4200 for the smoker… that $750 shipping is a deal breaker for me.
*First off, love the video!*
Nice work!!
Now that's absolutely awesome 👌
My wife actually sat with Me and watched this.
Thank you! I couldn't agree more.
GREAT VIDEO . I NEED TO GET THE LOANSTAR PELLET TO GO WITH MY SHIRLEY VERTICAL PIT
Great comparison Rus ! There always seems to be plenty of volunteers to taste test ! Great video Rus.
Thanks Kent, I appreciate it!
Really nice video, Rus. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s thoughts and opinions. Both some beautiful cookers you got there! Cheers 🍻
Thanks Darrin! It was a fun video. I learned a lot from it as well. Appreciate you stopping by and checking it out! Cheers 🍻
Interesting. Looks like a good pellet grill there. Great camera clarity on this video.
Love your videos dude keep up the great work love food
thanks for the video! I have the LSG 30X36 and just ordered the 20x42 pellet. love LSG and your videos!
You're welcome! Nice pit! This pellet grill is going to impress you for certain! Enjoy!
Just the kind of test I wanted to see. Thanks Rus! I'm itching for that build email!
Now this was a great test. Thanks for doing this, Rus ! Excellent video as usual!
Really great video, Rus! I’m seriously intrigued by that pellet grill. I may have to see if Chris wants another opinion 😂. Cheers, brother!
Thanks Mike! I'm loving it! Cheers!
Good video I would recommend getting a pellet and offset thanks for sharing
Can't go wrong with both for sure!
I loved this video, especially because I have this same pellet grill on order from Lone Star Grillz. Can’t wait to get going with my ribs, brisket, and pork butts. Again, this was a terrific video.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Enjoy your new pellet grill when you get it!
LOL, does your pastor BBQ haha
@@SmokyRibsBBQ What southern Baptist preacher doesn’t?
Thanks glad you found it. 99 percent of the ash collects in the bottom under the deflector plate. Cooking chamber stays very clean
Loved that video! Just one question, I'm looking real hard at at LSG IVS and wondering where you'd rank the smoke flavor compared to offset and pellet smokers. Somewhere in between? Closer to one than the other?
Keep up the great work I love to watch your videos.
The IVS is pretty much like any other charcoal / wood chunk smoker in flavor. Like a kettle, drum or Kamado. Holds temps very good as well
The pellet cooker got that close to the offset even without the years of seasoning...I believe you got a winner.Good job Russ.
This was great! Thanks for the video.
Your welcome, thanks for watching!
Its perfect smoking weather here in Michigan now. In the 50s and 60s
Thank you! I love Lone Star Grillz products and yes 100 percent American made
Most excellent video Rus . I was thinking their was going to be a bigger difference in smoke flavor between the two that says a lot about LSG pellet smoker man that thing is nice .
Thanks for checking it out Lance!
I’m a bbq lover my self. Hope I share it with my son the way you do yours when My boys older
Both of my sons really enjoy doing BBQ
Darn it I wanted to try the rub but there’s no shipping to Australia but they look great
Nice video Rus. I wonder if you left the pellet butt go without wrapping it a little longer if you would have gotten more smoke flavor?
Yes, absolutely and I normally don't wrap my pork butts, but I knew I was running out of daylight and people were going to start showing up for the taste test, so I ramped the heat up to 275° and wrapped to accelerate the cook time. 5 hours did put a nice smoke on them however.
Thank you Rus! For doing this video, very concise comparison.
Your welcome Brad.! Thanks for checking it out!
Probably not as good as most pellet grills that don't smoke well, but I used around 10 pounds or so on this cook. Cheaper than the offset LOL
I’d like to see the pellet chips mix vs the wood offset. Educated guess tells me the pellet would be even closer to the wood.
Looks like 2 amazing pits! Great video quality also looks like your stepping up your game!
Thanks Rusty, I appreciate you checking it out
Do you think the yellow mustard really helps? Or does it just help on time because you might not need to wait for it to "sweat out" when adding the mustard?
I use it for a binder but I’m convinced it helps in overall flavor as well
Russ - does the pellet smoker have a condensation rail on the inside of the lid? From the video, I could not tell. It does not look like it has one.. Now that you have cooked on it for some time, does the condensation run down and mess up the outside front of the grill? I really like your video. Thanks for sharing.
The smoker is in the garage and covered tightly right now, so I can't easily look, but I don't remember one, but with that said, I have never had condensation, grease or anything drip from the lid onto the outside of the smoker. Not once.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ Thank you.
Nice video you will pick up more smoke flavor with good pellets like lumberjack, smoke ring or BBQ Delight I know you was trying to keep everything the same and you did a very good job.
Thanks for the tips!
Great job Rus! Thanks for the hard work on this one!
Thank you!
Great comparison, thanks !
Great video brother, thanks for sharing this!!
Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, will do!
you will always get more smoke from an off set or direct grilling - over an pellet grill' smoker . However pellet grill are great
I wasn’t able to read through all the comments but I did hear the offset had 5 years of seasoning. How new/old was the pellet grill at the time this video? Thanks.
It was brand new
Wonder how long it’ll take until one of the big brands are able to run constant smoke on their pellet smokers?
It can hold it's own against any kamado or kettle grill. It delivers the smoke unlike other pellet grills, and it has a very pleasant taste.
I'm sure it would get it even closer. It's pretty close just running pellets.
Watched all the advertisements. Good comparison.I voted for this video.
Thank you!
I've been looking forward to this comparison video. St. Louis ribs would be a good comparison cook too and chicken too.
Thanks for watching it, much appreciated!
Very interesting! So do you like the Ole Hickory better so far? How is the build in comparison? How well does it hold temp?@@SmokyRibsBBQ
@@shawnsgear Absolutely love it! The majority of Ole Hickory smokers are built for commercial applications and designed to run everyday such as in restaurants and the smaller residential models like my Ultra Que are built with the exact same quality and parts.
That was a great comparison! Those who want a pellet grill surely won’t be disappointed in the performance of this one👍
Thanks Bobbi, I appreciate you checking the video out!
Nice concept. I like the blind taste test and looks like it came out pretty close.
Hey Randy! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate you watching!
That was a great comparison. If an pellet cooker tastes close to an offset you know it’s going to be a great grill! Glad you guys all loved the ORIGINAL RUB during the taste tests! Cheers brother!
Thanks Jabin! Man I'm super impressed with the smoke that this pellet grill puts out! It's crazy for a pellet grill. Love the rub brother and looking forward to trying the others!
