This is likely a faulty actuator that has the turbo vane position stuck in exhaust brake mode. You can replace just the actuator easily, and while doing so, check that the vanes move freely on the turbo to rule out the turbo itself as the culprit. If you are in a jam and need to drive 1) drain coolant 2) unplug the actuator on the turbo 3) remove the actuator and manually put the vane position somewhere in the middle 4) reinstall actuator and leave it unplugged 5) refill coolant. This somewhat converts the VGT to a fixed geometry turbo but your boost will be low and it will be a little bit of a dog to drive as well as no exhaust brake. It'll get you around for a while and won't hurt anything to buy you some time.
I understand I’m very late to this video. If this ever happens to anyone you you need to get the truck home or to a shop, you can pull the VGT fuse under the hood. The turbo will go to fully open vane position and stay there. It’ll be a little smokey in lower RPMs but will sound like a 5.9 and drive like a big turbo 5.9 with inadequate fuel. It will be a little doggy in the lower rpm’s but it’s safe to drive that way. You need to pull the fuse before the vanes stick closed though (like this video.) They normally give you some warning before failing completely.
Oh yeah let’s roll the clock back and cut our power down by a 5th… as if they never have problems. Go stroke it somewhere else. For the record I love them both. But it’s absolute nonsense to say they are just superior. Also nothing about dudes truck is a clean diesel. No emissions components. Nothing clean about it. Not hating though mine is the same
The turbo failed that's all the vgt was probably stuck closed cause of the carbon. It's deleted so it ain't a "clean diesel" anymore. It ain't the engine. Stop making a fool of yourself
I had it cleaned. It was back to this 3 days after the $300 dollar dodge cleaning. They also told me if I had ran my exhaust break it won't soot up. Well I bought this truck new. The exhaust break was always on if the truck was running. These turbos are crap. They also had a very high drive pressure. This is why the 6.7s have headgasket issues. Not to mention stock studs are weak.
Had the same problem but without the e brake on it was in tow mode and I was still running egr and TV just unplugged so I removed it and it's fine still factory turbo and factory studs and I have efi live and use my truck for hotshot I didn't use my e brake all the time but guys who did that I know have the most trouble
Lol I got a faulty actuator so it’s fine until I step on it then it dumps hella coal for like 3 seconds then you can hear the turbo open up super late and it clears up
Haha mine did this put the fleece cheetah. on my stock turbo the actuator stuck then the stud on the hot side impeller came out seized the turbo up haha had to replace it so went with a fleece
Mine is doing this is it throwing a code for transmission 6th gear ratio when I try to accelerate it kinda jerks trying to figure out what it is tyranny going out or turbo?
Bring back the old gear driven diesel engines The hell with the emissions crap It’s obvious that the US is the only country in the world 🌍 that has emissions crap 💩 On the engines gas or diesel

just fixed my truck reading this paragraph, highly appreciated
What was the issue my Cummins is doing same thing

Mother natures way of saying "no"
All the new “clean diesels” do this bullshit…. Let’s just go back to 12V Cummings and 7.3 powerstrokes

What the hell is a 12v “Cummings”?
@@generationlost838the inline pump 12 valve is far superior than this engine...
@@MrJ183 are you trying to say P pump Cummins?

I have a 07 6.7 and its doing yhe same thing i had a new turbo put on and its still doing it
Yes and NO, Its all because the DPF CRAP. Delete and ENJOY. I have a 2015 Ram 3500 DUALLY 4x4. It reads 505k miles no problems whatsoever.
Yup that's the actuator

when you hotshot can you delete your truck ?
Mine is doing the same thing. What other option can I do other than buying a new turbo.
Replace actuator but might as well buy a new turbo
Mine's doing the exact same thing how do I fix it
My 2001 Cummins is making that clock noise while it’s under boost as well what does it mean?
Knock, your timing is throwb
Lol I got a faulty actuator so it’s fine until I step on it then it dumps hella coal for like 3 seconds then you can hear the turbo open up super late and it clears up
Mine does the same, throttle response seems like it’s really laggy

Do a 2nd gen swap kit
Fleece cheetah is a great replacement also if your wanting to keep the vgt usage for towing
Incorrect gear ratio = tranny rebuild
Just replaced my turbo last week because of this
***** it is , if you not idiot lmao , most of the people will just buy new turbo .
+Turbo617 I'm having the same problem how do I clean it, if you don't mind me picking your brain?

On the engines gas or diesel
My 2012 750 is doing that. Turned out to be vgt acuatir not calibrated when they installed the new turbo
