    Great video, but it is recommended to not use a screwdriver to lift the valve cover, instead use a rubber mallet and knock it slightly 👌

    Glad your aftermarket gasket sealed okay. I've heard so many people say OEM-only or else it will leak, but this proves otherwise. I'll try it with this one.

    Nice! I personally recommend removing the coil pack when doing this. I've changed mine with the coil pack on a few times, and I ended up rolling the valve cover gasket when putting the cover back on which I didn't notice it til I saw my valve cover dripping oil a week later. Also, my flesh paint on valve cover got scratched when trying to wiggle my cover under the coil pack's bolt bracket. The lower coil pack bolt isn't that hard to remove with a 12mm extra long flex-head ratcheting box end wrench!

      Not a bad idea! So far mine seems to have no leaks, I’ll continue to check it just in case. The valve cover paint on this one wasn’t perfect to start so I just went for it, but removing that certainly would have made things easier!

    Thanks for this,I just did mine.Luckily I noticed a loose bolt behind the timing belt wheel that holds the plate on...I can only imagine the damage if it let loose and ended up in the cam area. All went well with no leaks,glad I took on this challenge.

    My husband said I couldn't do it, well after watching this I know I can. I have to purchase a torque wrench and gasket sealer and I should be good. I could not tell what tool you used to go around the covers edges on the engine. But I am sure I will figure out something, knowing I have to be very careful not to knick the aluminum.

  • @cbthethird
    @cbthethird Рік тому +6

    A couple things worth considering when doing this job are the CAS or the plug where it would be if its an NB. Easier to do with the VC off. Also- the big o-ring gasket on the oil cap is $4 and usually they're old and flattened leading to an oily ring around the oil fill hole. Also- good time to pop in a new PCV grommet.

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  3 роки тому +4

      Thanks! The most important places are curves and contours where it's tougher for the gasket to seal. The cam cutouts and the CAS cutout and all corners will be a good place to start, you won't hurt anything if you add a bit wherever you see fit as long as you don't add so much that an excessive amount gets into the engine. Best of luck!

      Likely not, the best way to solve lifter tick is to run a good oil and ensure you have enough oil. Lots of people run Rotella T6 (myself included) and say it helps. If it doesn't go away I honestly wouldn't worry about it, these motors love to tick!
