    I stumbled upon your videos and must say I am becoming a bit addicted to watching them. You provide great information, trade secrets, great product reviews and I love that you find your passion in doing the work, the craft thru your camera in the great outdoors. You are inspiring me to continue to get my butt out there and having just turned 71, not quite as easy as in days past. Thank you for the meticulous detail and care you put into your videos, as well as for your humility, honesty and awesome photographs!

    For what it's worth... The viewfinder cover, for the 5D MKIII, is the rubber piece on your camera strap. I am enjoying your videos, very much. The best I've seen on You Tube, by far..

  • @A2thaMFK
    @A2thaMFK 8 років тому

    Hi Thomas, the eye piece is on the camera strap. It's a rubber square cover. I've removed mine from the strap and I use it every time I use a 6 or 10 stop filter.

    As always, a great video Thomas. Being a Blackpool resident, I had to watch this video - if just to see what magic you could weave here. I've shot the now rusty, weathered Seashell at Cleveleys plenty of times. Though it's usually on a cold, windy autumn evening with the tide out. But it's great to photograph at sunset with the sun poking through and illuminating the shapes.

    I love Blackpool! Being from the Isle of Man, we used to spend a lot of family holidays there back in the 70's early 80's. Been back a few times in recent years too with my own family and weekend breaks. Great street photo opportunities too, as well as landscape. Those 2 images are corkers, mate! Really nice work.

      I have that rubber cap thingy on a zip tie in my filter pouch. The zip tie is big enough to wear on my wrist like a bracelet while im shooting. I just take it off my wrist or out of the pouch just before hitting the shutter. Like you, I ditched the strap/wind catcher ages ago.

    • @oli3659

    Great video Thomas.I have been watching your channel since discovering it via petapixels article about those amazingly inconsiderate peeps in Hawaii.Anyway thank you for sharing your experiences and advise, it really has fired me up to get out more.I'd like to share a small bit of advise related to this video and long ex with the big and super stopper. I also use a canon 5d3 and a work around / trick to cover the view finder when doing the exposure. I use a black party balloon, cut it about a cm below the end and 'swimming cap' it over the view finder. Works a treat absolutely no light leak, very inexpensive and is no weight or hinderance in high winds. Keep a couple in your lens pouch. Can also be used to store memory cards and keep the wet out for extra piece of mind.

    About the viewfinder problem. I bought myself a cheap eyecup for my 5DMk II and covered the hole with black ducktape.
    I leave the earcup on everytime I'm out in the field and don't use the viewfinder.
