    Larry Bird was the best basketball player in NBA history.

    When you watch clips like this you realize why when Kareem was asked who the greatest player
    he ever played against was he said " It could have been Larry Bird. " He could do everything ".
    " He just wore us out" . Enough said.

    Bird 13 for 13 from line. I kept thinking they were replaying the same free throw. All 13 were perfect swishes.

    Bird made it look so easy. Every shots he made seem to have "swooosh".
    The Celtics had excellent ball movements and they were able to get favorable match-up isolation.

    Interestingly enough (and you can hear the announcers touch on it at the start of the clip) Bird had a subpar first month to start the '85-'86 season - the back injury he sustained in the off-season was clearly bothering him. Somewhere around December though he got his act together and proceeded to go off on the greatest run of his brilliant career. This was Bird's peak.

      @bryanburnap4537 He'd hurt his back shoveling just the summer before. The fact that he was playing at all is a testament to his toughness and the effectiveness of Dan Dyrek's skill.

    In addition to all his other accolades (deserved) few seem to mention movement without ball. He's so wide open cats say, "why is no one guarding him?" That would be because he gets himself open.

    bird was so unselfish ,he always wanted to stay in the team frame , making sure to keep parish and McHale involved also ,cause imo he could've scored 30 plus a night if he wanted to .especially on nights like this when he was on fire .

    Watching Bird play and the Celtics of that era was just amazing how workman like they just seemed to go about their business of dismantling you piece by piece. Of course these pistons would eventually reach a level where they could get the Celtics when they all started to age and the injuries caught up with them.I'm actually one of those people that think those Pistons were skilled teams. You don't win back to back titles by just beating everyone up, they had some talent.

    • @insanusmaximus2857
      @insanusmaximus2857 Рік тому

      I definitely think those Pistons were an All-Time great team. They played rough, and sometimes dirty, and they take a lot of grief for not shaking the Bulls' hands. But for a time, they were as good as the Celtics, Lakers, and Bulls. I hate them, but I will always respect them.

    that is why Isiah and laimbeer hated Bird so much...he has killing the pistons for a long time....in 1988 with his back deteriorating--they finally overcome Bird's Celtics...but starting 1980 to 1987---it was Bird over Isiah....

    Bird was soooo good. I was a big time Pistons fan in the 80s and I HATED him! Notice many of his points came against Tripuka. Tripuka was an excellent scorer, but when we traded him for Dantley, that's when the Pistons fortunes started to change.

    I think Bird used to take it as an insult when teams would put their white players on him. That's why he'd always cook Tripucka and Kiki Vandeweghe and those dudes. Only exception of course, was Bobby Jones...who defensively was a bad bad man.

      watch the bulls/Celtics game in Feb or march of 1987 in Chicago think dennis Johnson & kevin McHale was out the bulls put Ben Poquette on bird to guard him .Bird lit the bulls and Poquette up for 31 points in the first half and finished with 43 total Bird said after the game he was pissed caused the bulls put Poquette on him as an embarrassment so he lit them up lol

      That was a couple years later....after the game they had won but had Bird steal the ball and get it to DJ for the layup.
