Mayones aren’t that good, don’t get me wrong, I love how they look but first the neck is thick, doesn’t feel a fast guitar at all, and second a lot of them have issues maintaining the tuning, the fretwork isn’t that great either. For the price range all this is unacceptable.
@@juliobonilla3104 Haven't ran into tuning issues on any of the ones i've playedor owned, and since they swapped to stainless steel frets in 2018-19, the fretwork got much better. The neck is obviously a preference, but I wouldn't call the mayones neck thick, it's quite average. It's just not an ibanez pencil neck. It's about the same thickness as a jackson juggernaut, or various PRS wide thins. In my case, I find the ultra thin ibanez necks very cramped feeling.
@@juliobonilla3104 what models did you own / play that had all these issues? Asking because I used to own 2020 Hydra BL and 2021 Duvell Elite and haven’t experienced ANY troubles with them. In fact, build quality, the setup, fit and finish, wiring and fretwork were absolute best I’ve ever encountered on a guitar. Also played some higher end Strandbergs, Aristides, a Black Machine B6 (originally made by Doug), some Murphy Lab custom shop Les Pauls and a couple of CS Strats. And both of my Mayos were totally in pair with all those, a lot more expensive instruments. The neck is definitely on a thicker side (which is a good thing to me) and is totally a matter of the personal preference and not an objective disadvantage 🤷🏻♂️ Edit : that being said, these new TAO models keep getting some really great feedback. Certainly wouldn’t mind to try one 🤔
Miss the 7 string stuff you guys did on tracks like Atlas, I the destroyer and I the creator, that whole album slaps. Hope to hear more 7 string riffage
@@caparisonx I think only four songs on In Stasis are on a 7 or 8. The rest are on a 6. Browne said something like he finds it easier to play/write on a 6 so he found himself picking it more often.
I'm trying to learn how to play this, i am at the second verse now.. this is hard stuff ahaha. My playing is not clean at all when compared to him but i'm getting most of the notes there. way to fast and "riffy" love this song
Not sure why people are complaining about the mix? It sounds extremely full, just don't have bad speakers. Killer song as always, best song of 2023 for sure.
'Just don't have bad speakers' is an extremely gatekeeping elitist comment, I'll point that out first. But this mix is good. The guitars are easier to hear than in Phronesis, for instance.
Ah yes, it's "an extremely gatekeeping elitist comment when calling out those attempting to claim it's a bad mix. The very same group of people complaining that a mix is bad whilst listening to it on phone speakers or some other speaker that doesn't incorporate low-end frequencies. How elitist of me to call those people out. You keep doing you.
@@BloodEagle.the defining factor of a good mix is that it sounds good on everything. That’s why engineers have a bunch of reference speakers… play it in the car, play it on a phone, a laptop, on a Bluetooth speaker, through monitors. Play it in mono, in stereo, play in loud, play it quiet. Adjust as necessary. If you’re calling other people out you should at least know that, it’s mixing 101. If it doesn’t sound good on everything, it’s not a good mix. Either way the last couple of albums have lacked clarity even on high end monitors. It is what it is.
Grazie
it's actually crazy how you can't hear the guitars AT ALL in the mix... i feel like this song was to put an emphasis on andy more than browne... which i kinda understand since the song needs to be more commercialized because of the whole godslap thingy
@@stevenkelly2875 I completely disagree. New albums have been mixed in a way where every single instrument complimented each other incredibly well. I think what you're thinking of is simply the volume of what's being mixed. This last album In Stasis has included many layers of synths, orchestra, piano, etc. underneath the existing bass, guitar, drum, and vocal tracks which makes sense considering that Mick Gordon was featured on 2 of them if I'm correct. Past albums on the other hand were pretty minimal with an emphasis on the guitar and drums to achieve that punchy, cliche "djent" sound.
I have to say I fucking love this song, and it’s really disappointing that the guitars are buried in the mix, and additionally I don’t think whoever mixed and mastered this song did a good job the mix is flat and messy.
Does anybody know why there are no white colored tuners in this world? It's a question that bothers me since the dawn of time ... why are they all black, chrome or gold?
Really gotta express the amount of respect I have for Browne not only as a guitarist but as someone who shares knowledge for the sake of good. If it weren't for this man I never would have read anything by P. Hall or McKenna... They say don't meet your heroes, pfft. Bring this man (and the whole lineup history of Monuments) many a' drink! 🤘
I think the mixing of this track was very bad. It's so hard to hear the guitar properly, unfortunately. I watched the video of JB tracking the guitar parts in the studio and thought this could probably be Monuments' masterpiece, but then the track was released and I was very confused and disappointed.
An ad for a cool guitar and an amazing player, and all you can hear is the singer getting in the way of the music 🙄 Monuments needs to just be an instrumental band after Chris. Andy just doesn't do the music justice. They went from sounding "like Monuments" to sounding like any other generic djent/prog band.
The guitarist is good, the coulour of the guitar looks like old woman lipstick and if you put some white dots on the guitar body it might look like old grandma's dress. The guitar specs are good but almost nobody will buy that guitar , maybe a couple of fans will but that's it . And i know it's ebony fretboard but some fretboard inlays on it won't crack the fretboard. Or maybe create the same product with or without dots.
And? Same as his Qatsi’s. JB has always been a fan of bolt on bodies. Pups on this model were voiced (with changes) to the Nailbomb/Cold Sweat combo from Bare Knuckle which were also on his Mayones sigs.

Nobody is more fun to watch play guitar. There’s just something special about super fast precise down picking.

Congratulations on launching your signature guitar again, Browne. I really like this song!
