How does one aquire this position in the military ? Question being does one go through basic and they get places here or they go through basic spend some time over seas comes back and they depending on their skills they are assigned this ?
The military occupational specialty is chosen by the qualified individual during the enlistment process. Following recruit training, the individual Marine is given formal training in that MOS, and then is assigned to various posts around the Marine Corps.
I started as a 6276, Crew Chief, I then was diagnosed with acrophobia....the fear of heights. I transitioned then to the ground-level and worked on guns for the next 2-3 years~ approximately. All of this was after SERE, by the way....shit sucked like fuck. Scored a 97.6% on the qualification at Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG), Maryland....I think I still hold the base record. It was a mixed unit of Army and Marines. Had to lead 80+ of those beasties to and from chow. Hell of a Ride. ARMY outnumbered us, 10-to-1....we fucked with 'em, so hard, all the time. hhahahha, I love my Army Dogs....great men and women. Never seen a Marine like me before, hahhahaa. What a joke. I'd piss the Joker off with my anime and techno bullshite. My Staff Sergeants were always pissed as fuck at me. hahhaha! Everyone's career in the military is weird and wild. Take care of each other. Learn each others' names. Treat each other well. I believe in you kids! Let's beat the enemy and treat each other well! Semper Fidelis. -- "Ultra" 2nd Lt. (Ret.) Matthew A. "My first job is accountability". That's it. Right there. He is good at his job but this is bullshit. Not all armorers are nit-picky weirdos. He is a librarian for guns.
That tri-shot of him was next level, more work, but worth it. ☆
That's one great Marine right there.

2111! It's how I earn my living! OO-Rah! Semper Fi! Marine Corps! ALLLLL the way! EVERYDAY!
What jobs are available after deployment?
Do you get to fire any of the weapons? My grandpa was a armorer during the Nam era and he said he did.
We do! We run rifle and pistol qualifications several times throughout the year, in addition to other training.
That hammer spring on the M16 looks out of spec. Army 91F, so I would check the 23&P
