Worked with a few of these incredibly professional Marines in East Africa. They never treated any one of us like we were “lesser” they offered to give us some cool training, let us shoot on their ranges with them and we’re always true and steadfast professionals. They are the real deal. No books, no movies. They do their jobs and expect nothing for it other than the honor of being a Raider.

I understand you admire these soldiers. So do I - I admire them more than just about any other profession. But what part of their activities do you think 'keeps' you safe in America?
Afghanistan were not a threat to the US, Iraq certainly weren't. Neither were Libya. Most of the bombers at 9/11 were Saudis - over 90 % of them.
It's a more complex picture than just saying those guys keep us safe. They really don't. The thing that keeps the US safe is the overall might of the military. For any country to declare war on the US directly and try to land ground troops in the US - it wouldn't be a great idea.

Dates are jacked up. I personally served with MARSOC in Camp Gannon. Northwest Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Town called Husaybah. Real wild west shit back in '04-'05.
I'm V1/7. First Team. Chesty's Own. I worked with Animal, Baker, Suicide Charlie, Weapons and Hide n Slide.
    I'm a POG.
They were 2nd Anglican. Hot shit. Nice guys. Professional as fuck, chill as hell.
They lost only one of their own and after that they really went on the warpath. Insane death dealers. Their area of Camp was accessible but separate. When we got resupply convoys they would have their own detail break off from the convoy and deliver directly to them instead of my area where we could stow gear in dry storage or the armory.
They had humvees that had mounted, traversing SAWs in the armored doors. MK-19s up top or TOWs.
    They were OFP for sure.

You know the Marine Raiders were the first ever actual special operations group created by the United States government but government disbanded them after WW2. Marines was always to be known as elite ever since its creation back in November 10 1775. Anyone who says different doesn't know know thier ass from their elbow, that's why Marines are different. That's why US Marines have so much pride, and rightfully so. In any case, glad the US brought back the Raiders. They are Green Berets and Seals combined, if you need to put a comparison. Marines kill that's what they live for. Ooorah Raiders and to all my fellow Marine brethren, Semper Fidelis!!
Oh yeah and US Marines do not quit or surrender throughout history. The only time Marines have had to "surrender" was in WW2, in the early stages of the Philippines and Guam(1941) when they were ordered too, if that command didn't come through the Marines would have fought till the last man. That makes Marines elite in my book.
Remember Americans don't need a Marine Corps they WANT a Marine Corps.

Ongoing training throughout each year, makes them the killers U.S. Marine Raiders are known for. I believe if war breaks out in Taiwan, their terrain is similar to the terrain Marine Raiders battled on during World War 2.
If war does break out, Taiwan Marines will defend their homeland against Chinese forces. I'm just curious what operations U.S. Marines will take part of.

Nice video mate, thanks for posting. You don't see much about the MARSOC dudes. I'm guessing they be like an army ODA but with 2 more dudes. But I could be wrong.

What is the difference between these Raider guys and Marine Recon? Can these guys become Delta or members of Seal Team Six?

Force Recon, Marine Raiders, and Div Recon Marines all share VERY similar skills sets.. However Force Recon and Marine Raiders are just a notch above. At least when I served in the Marines (I WAS NOT RECON but met many. Great men and most are extremely humble... That said, not all Division Recon Marine are both jump and dive certified.. Some have both but not all.. Force Recon, at least when I served had additional testing requirements and all were both jump and dive certified... Biggest difference is that Force goes MUCH further behind enemy lines to gather Intel.. Div Recon typically dont have to go long range like the Force guys...
When I served the indoc for the force guys was harder as well... I've been told directly by 2 Marines who served in both Force and MARSOC, that they have nearly identical skillsets and they attend the same schools.. IMO the primary differences being chain of command, and the fact the MARSOC Marines have to be proficient in a second language... ALL THREE units are INCREDIBLY difficult... Also don't let the fact that, ON THE SURFACE, MARSOC OR SEALS or Green Beret training is more difficult due to school lengths... Most Recon guys attended the same schools, they're just not as streamlined... It usually takes 1.5 - 2 years to train a FULLY qualified Recon Marine... Approximately the same amount of time as it would any another Spec Operator.

Served from 71-75. The last few months as Battalion Administration Chief in the S-1, 3/7 H&S Co. San Mateo Camp Pendleton. Anyway, I got to go to a drown-proofing course at the pool at camp San Mateo. Had to jump off the tower full gear, strip it all off (down to my skivvies) and float for 8 hours without touching anyone or the side to pass. My question is, does anybody out there know what that was called because I'm 70 and I don't remember what it was called anymore. Thanks

I was wondering what was up with his face. If it was some advanced helmet optics...then I realised that he just had his helmet lowered...I'm not a marine, but these crayons are tasty.
