  • I button up the torque box, and move onto the outer frame structure, also a little work to the door jam area.

Well done Alvin !! Your metal work is second to none, but your understanding of how this was engineered is priceless.

I am traveling until the end of the month, sadly no work on the T-bird for a while...an unexpected trip.

Hello Alvin. Great job on that fabrication. It will be nice and strong when you complete it. I can tell you're having fun with this.

      Hi George,
It's been a journey, but yes, I do like doing it. 😄
It's funny how the camera picks up on things different than a guys eyes, I noticed some pitting ahead of the patch I put in on the outer structure, and I'm not happy with that, so I will most likely be fixing that area also.

Looking good Alvin. Those inner structures are like a jigsaw puzzle. I'm so glad I didn't need to tear into them on mine. You're making it look easy though. Keep up the good work and see you on the next one.

Yes, there is a lot going on in this area...is it any wonder these cars weighted a lot. Lol

    Hiya Alvin!
It’s looking real nice and sturdy!
I’ve had an idea for those rivnuts, (I have a set but haven’t used them yet) to prevent any scratches during the process of installing them I thought about applying RTV to the area that going into the sheet metal. Once completed, I think not only will you save any rust converter, or red oxide, or even regular primer from being scratched off but it might leave it water proof for future rain and debris from rotting the hole out.
Just a theory of mine I’ve been playing with.
Great job, and as always I look forward to your next video!

      Hey Troy,
I've had the rivnuts for years, and only ever used a few, so no idea how well they will hold up, they do dig into the metal, so anytime to help from rusting would be helpful.
      Thanks!

I tried to give my oldest boy a 65 Tbird about 10 years ago.
390 auto mint interior, 1 dent in the rear bumper, faded paint, 48,xxx miles on it.
He said it was too big, so I traded it for a 69 Javelin SST drag car.
Today, my son is 6' 5" and 290 lbs.
He regretted turning down the Tbird once he went car shopping.
You should have seen the dealer & I pulling my son out of a Chrysler Crossfire. 🤣
Then he wanted to try on a Kia Stinger. 😏🤣 kid stop, you're killing me !
Alas, he owns a Ford Escape .
My youngest was smart, he called dibs on the Javelin when he was 8.
    😊
    Looking forward to your build.

I would have jumped on the Javelin in a heartbeat!
I think a lot of people see the Thunderbirds as old man cars. Lol

    Alvin,
How do you do it? Gloved or not, whenever I so much as get my hand even close to Pearline I wind up bleeding and head to the house for a Band-Aid. Working on that convertible, I'd wind up at the hospital for major surgery. 🫤 Anyway, she's looking better with each video. Annnnnnd...have you and your wifey named her yet?
    Regards,
    John

      John,
Don't tell the other subscribers, but secretly, I have a guy that comes in and does the work...I'm just the hand model. 😉
No name as of yet, I think we will have to wait to see what it will look like all painted, and drivable...then maybe a name will come to mind. 🤔

I'm out of the country on an unexpected trip, I plan to be home by February 1st...so likely the first week in February is the earliest for a new video. I haven't abandoned the project, just life takes you on a different path sometimes.
