      Thanks man! I already put the same stuff to my EVH Frankenstrat and connected the neck pickup with a push/pull switch (thanks for the tip!) and man, I think the effect (sustain, bottom, top end etc. tone) is even more significant on that guitar than on the N4. Wow!

    I just bought the same upgrades (minus the trem damper) for my Ibanez edge lo pro. I did notice a little bit of spring ring (3 red coated) but it’s definitely quieter than stock. I have yet to tear it apart and install the brass block but now I want to today! Good idea taking a picture for the intonation. Thanks for sharing, brother!

    Euge,
    Love the content you put out. Always enjoy your the reviews of gear, and to be honest I just love your playing! Absolutely epic skills and a personality that makes us feel welcome to come along for the ride as you show us what works and what sometimes does not. Subscribed over a year ago after the first video I watched. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with all of us. Congrats on your "new" early 90's MIJ N4! I will always regret selling my 1994 USA Padauk N4. It was an amazing guitar but so heavy... over 9 pounds! Paid only $600 USD for it in 1998. One of a long list of guitars that I let get away.

    Great video Euge , I did the same thing to my EVH Wolfgang special, but I went a little further with the titanium saddle screws and locking nut screws too, Adam also makes these cool magnetic Allen wrench to attach to the back of the headstock, FU Tone makes killer stuff to upgrade your Floyd Rose bridges with and I think everyone should learn how to work on there own guitar.

    The fat brass block is a great upgrade that really will improve the tone and performance of a floyd rose. I have put one of these on all my floyd rose trems. I really like the flutters you can get with the extra weight.

    I've done 3 of my Floyd Rose guitars with Fu-tone, did all the same parts on all 3. Brass big block, Titanium saddle blocks and Titanium saddle screws. No regrets. The noticeable difference was the same on all 3. Better note clarity, sustain, a little more volume. I kept all 3 floating and still have great results. The guitars are , 1989 Kramer Nightswan, 1996 Hamer Californian and a 2021 Kramer Dave Sabo. Also noticeable tuning stability. Great video, Cheers!

    I can definitely hear the change! I wouldn't say it's night and day, but it isn't minor in any way.
    This sort of thing also worked for me on an inexpensive guitar with a classic 6-screw bridge that I used for my lessons. I bought the heaviest, affordable bridge I found (no brand, around 25€ back then), its base plate being already ~0,5 mm thicker than that of the original bridge. The new block alone already was heavier than the whole original bridge. It could definitely be heard, because the tinny nature of the original's sound disappeared: the bass and low mids increased, everything got more even, rounder and slightly louder. But the main difference was the feel for me as a player due to the increased sustain, which in turn I think it translates to the listener through a different execution, since it made me more confident, and as a consequence I became more relaxed with my playing (although I still suck overall 😂).

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  Рік тому +1

    Definitely a sound improvement: more open and fuller. But it is just me suspecting the mounting that big block limits the ability to do some “radical” FR pull ups as the block is to close to the body wood? As shown at 11:04 Maybe I am wrong.
    Anyway,great video as always!!! 👍

    I got their high tension springs because they looked cool and thought "maybe there's not too much difference between Low/Med/High tension", but it turns out they really are hard, ended up only using two and still had to apply a lot of force (or maybe is just the way I setup my guitar). Anyway, great stuff at FU-Tone, will definitely buy something from them again.

      I have the high tension springs in an 84 Kramer Focus 1000 with an OFR and I'm going to take them out. Like you, I have only two in there and it still just doesn't feel right, too tight but too loose at the same time. I also have the big brass block, which I do like and think is worth it.

    *quick edit* Your tone seemed to have a bit more biting bottom end that you didn't have prior to switching out the block. I'm not surprised though, by you saying acoustically it was louder (that block was HUGE!)

    Amazing playing as always man, but as for the tone in the distorted tone can't say it made much of a difference, maybe it sounds a tad brighter but that's pretty much it. No way I would have noticed in a full mix or in a live environment. Now clean sounds is a different thing. I think it sounds better and brighter

    I want to try this on an ibanez with basswood body before i purchase a les paul style guitar. Those lps have something going on when you play, resonances, sustain, fuller sounding etc. I hope this fu tone brings the ibanez back to life. What do you think Euge?

  • @mariek6993

    upgraded the block on my peavey wolfgang and while i wouldn't say it changed the tone that much, it gave me more sustain and all six strings ring out more evenly. great $45 spent.

  • @TheGgreen100
    @TheGgreen100 Рік тому +1

    High gain - subtle change but it's there. "After" sounds better. Bolder, more sustain.
    Clean - more obvious change. "After" sounds better.

  • @OgamiItto70
    @OgamiItto70 Рік тому +1

    You wouldn't have had to go through all that if you'd gotten a Kahler. 😁
    But seriously, I can't really hear all that much difference in the _tone,_ but I'm sure that the _playability_ issues solved are what made it really worthwhile.
    I need _at least_ the "noiseless" springs. I solved the problem of the springs creaking, but they still ring in sympathy with D chords on my guitar.

    In my Suhr Reb Beach I have a big block of FU completely great full sound more sustain the whole guitar sings and you can feel that in the body and neck! just another question about the Suhr reactive Load IR. I don't understand how you get such a good sound with it. I have a Landry LS100G3 a three channel EL34 powered high gain amp with individual gain and volume controls for each channel, with a separate set of tone controls for the clean channel and a shared EQ section for channels 2 and 3. great amp great sound ( Plexi) but as soon as I use it as a home studio with the Suhr reactive IR, the sound is not full, no attack, etc, etc... the feeling is so much different than when you play with a 4x12 or 2x12 inch cab. do you record directly from the Suhr RLoad IR or do you record with a microphone in front of the cab? In terms of pedal I have pretty much the same Boss SD-1 Boss Delay, Valhbruch space Delay etc.. it can't be that. what monitors do you use? Maybe those are the problem? I use KRK Rokit RP 5 G4 monitors. tell me what am i doing wrong?

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  Рік тому +1

      I haven’t used my Suhr in probably two years. I use mostly my cabs mic’d and sometimes St.Rock’s React IR if I need to record in silence (which I do very rarely 😎). But I got great results with the Suhr also. For example Red Wolf’s ’Sessions Vol. 1’ - album is my JCM800s into Suhr and Jens Bogren’s IRs.
      I always tell my signal chain on these videos so please pay more attention ’cos I went through it on this one also 😉.

    Mr Euge, there's better alternative to that stopper. It's called ESP arming adjuster. U can still pull and dive but with 100% tuning stability like fixed bridge. U can keep the brightness and the snappiness of the fixed bridge. Richard Z Kruspe from rammstein have it in all his new ESP guitars. Even steve vai use such stabilizer live , in ibanez version. 😊

    My luthier who installed it told me that in his opinion when one puts a trem stopper, there is already a " tone sucker" in place that will negate the brass block difference. Makes sense to me since the stopper has a plastic screw or one will put a felt to absorb the noise from the block hitting the screw when returning from a dive.
    But I still think it's a good upgrade because it's priced right!
    Just my opinion!

      Watched it a little. Have done some tremolo changes and mods. To me it sounded like the clean tone had some more "highs", So I think it added something on a certain frequency range and usually it's easier to hear it then than on some serious gain =D Nice playing. Have fun.

    That big brass block is what's giving you that sustain. All the other pieces add very small amounts of noticeable tone difference that IMO are not worth the price. Also Floyd Rose sells that brass block for less than FU tone...

      @@EugeValovirta230V This opinion is only based on personal experience doing these mods. There's a reason why there's very few A/B comparisons with these mods done. And a large majority of the videos about FU tone all end in a big question mark. Much like the title of your video.

      👍. I enjoy playing those fiddles more now, I sound better, they do the job better and that’s all that matters I guess. Quite cheap way to improve ones playing and good vibes. At least mine 😎.

      @@EugeValovirta230V I did notice the bigger brass block changes something or adds more of something acoustically, but when you plug the guitar in I'm not sure there's more sustain. It would be interesting if someone could measure that.
