Agreed. The glasses idea sounds inane, but Christopher Reeve's actually managed to make Clark Kent look unspeakably dorky, and also as if he doesn't even have a neck. If it's possible to have an athletic 6'6'' man fade into the background, Reeves manages to do that as Clark Kent.

On another topic, it's amazing that the guy who plays the screenwriter guy and the person who plays the producer guy have remained friends for so long and have both continued doing these videos for so many years.
Most modern stories strongly suggest everyone close to Clark knows his secret, some he realises knows, others simply never mention anything about it. Likewise Lex tends to also know, though he realises it’s not important, he’s still just as super in his PJ’s but can use the information to get to the people close to him.
Reeves actually did a pretty good job passing Clark off as "a different person". Different attitude, different way of speaking, he slumped his shoulders a bit and leaned forward slightly. In I believe the second movie he "changes" right in front of Lois by straightening up and not acting wimpy, and she realizes it's the same person.

Fun fact about the glasses thing: Henry Cavel once walked around central park, right below a giant Superman bilboard with him on it. He wore a Superman T-Shirt. The only thing he changed about his normal look is he wore glasses. Not a single person recognized him.
Cavill was 100% a victim of Snyder's directing, unfortunately. I think he could've done an amazing job if he had a director more interested in Superman, and less interested in BADASS SHOTS and BADASS SHOTS and, oh, BADASS SHOTS.
Cavill was just as good. Both turned in on point performances. Cavill looks more like Superman, but that's a consequence of the obsessive body shaping that takes place in Hollywood.
Cavil did a great job. But it's like being upset that not every boxer is Mohammed Ali. At a certain point it's like the dude is a legend for a reason. Toby is Spider-Man, Reynolds is Deadpool, and Reeve is Superman. Besides, as good as Henry Cavil is, I'm not so sure he could the Clark Kent vibe like Reeve. Legit that scene where Clark picks up Lois right after Superman leaves... it FEELS like two different people.

The scene you showed the beginning of in Lois' apartment later had one of the best showpieces of acting ever, and proved how his disguise worked. He turned from Clark to Supes and back to Clark in about thirty seconds with body language and posture.
Indeed he was truly a genius. And he changed how Superman was depicted in the comics ever since this movie. He loved that character and cats deeply for the role. And he made the most out of it.
I always chucked that up to "he didn't get the idea for it until Lois was dead in his arms". It's like when you lose a card game and only after the fact so you say to yourself "oh I should have done ____ instead".
That’s because on of these things could theoretically be found in a physics textbook while the other is proof of the fact that everything that happened in that universe since (and including that time-travel thing) is actually the hallucination of a guilt-ridden Superman hiding in his fortress of solitude.

It was like choosing between Superman being Jor El's Son and not messing with nature and mankind too much or Being Clark Kent The Kents Son and do everything to save the people loves, In The first choice he has to choose to sacrifice his loved ones to save the world which in the comic books he Never did sacrifice anyone To do that That's Why Man Of Steel iwas so and s controversial for ruining the arc which is not even accurate as in the comic books and in this movie as we see which he was maintaining so far, as going too fast would also break parallel world barrier because much like Flash, Superman is super strong, or strongest in fiction to maintain balance as even flash despite being normal his punches are string because of speed and Superman si already th strongest with speed he would destroy realities without even touching it. lex Luthor knew he was too kind to take that risk and he Was right he didn't wanted to take that risk as Even Kents told him to be his Real parents son but He decided to be his real self Clark Kent and save everyone in anyway possible.

Henry Cavill went to Time Square wearing street clothes and nobody recognized him as Superman. This was while Batman v Superman was being advertised everywhere, including on the billion at Time Square. People just see what they expect
@@ObsessiveGeek "I've discovered his secret! Superman is Clark Kent!" "So? You think he's somehow less bulletproof when he's wearing normal clothes? Now keep it down, that's 5 hours a day he's not thwarting our plans."
@@ObsessiveGeek One of the best Lex moments is in the comics when he makes a computer for the purposes of discovering whom Superman might be, then destroys it in frustration when it turns up the answer of "Clark Kent", not being able to believe it.
seeing producer guy wear glasses is deeply disturbing
Yeah, putting on glasses made him unrecognisable!
Oh, deeply disturbing producers are TIGHT!
Are you sure that both the producer and the screenwriter are not the same guy?
Very sure??
Where did producer go, cause I don't see him, all I see are two writer guys
@@Yj-Fj Have you ever seen both of them on the same side of the room at the same time?
I΄m currently rewatching it and after all those years it΄s still an amazing movie Everyone gave their all and Christhopher Reeve made us believe that a man can fly
It's crazy how much Producer Guy looks like Screenwriter Guy with those glasses on!
*I don't see it.*
Nonsense. They’re clearly in the same room together!
If it wasn't for the fact they are in the same room I would think they are the same person
I bet all Canadian look the same to you
@DevilMan88This is so aggressively grouchy it’s honestly funny
Wow. Until he put those glasses on, I had no idea Screenwriter guy and Producer guy were actually both played by Ryan. I'd always assumed one of them was being played by someone else, equally handsome of course, who never got credited.
My wife actually thought this
Isn’t he played by George?
Well, I DID think they might have been brothers... ;D
Ryan explains at the end of another Pitch Meeting that he plays Screenwriter Guy, but that Producer Guy is CGI.
I'm sorry they are obviously TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE 😂
Changing your hair or clothes based on the year of the pitch meeting would be hilarious! Good stuff!!
I busted out laughing at "he put himself in a love triangle where two of the three people are him" lol
"Is any of this going to age poorly? No, I don't think so." 😂😂
This is the best channel on UA-cam for me, Ive watched all these 350 pitch meetings over and over, can't stop it lol
Producer Guy becoming philosophical out of nowhere, only to go back to his usual, unintentionally perverted self seconds later is tight! This is one of your best ones yet, Ryan.
Holy shit, Gene Hackman is 94 years old. The man was 48 when this movie hit theaters in 1978. I…I don’t know what to do with this information.
Toni Basil is like 82 or 83. She was in her early 40s when she did "Hey, Mickey." That's thrown me for a loop.
@@drewtheunspoken3988 Heavy makeup and camera overexposure helped her get away with that. A high school cheerleader outfit sealed that one.
Time passes?
@kellymoses8566 You take that back! How dare you?! Haha
What do you mean you don't know what to do? You fly around the world backwards a bunch of times and de-age him!
Fun fact about the glasses thing: Henry Cavel once walked around central park, right below a giant Superman bilboard with him on it. He wore a Superman T-Shirt. The only thing he changed about his normal look is he wore glasses. Not a single person recognized him.
We recognised him but we didn’t want to hurt his feelings. He’s a nice guy.
@@gelraldoldo5152 oh, the dude seems like a winner by every metric I can think of.
Stopped working just to watch the new pitch meeting episode is TIGHT!
"You can't put on glasses and expect that to be a great disguise?"
"How about a mustache?"
"Oh, that's different."
It's way more commanding
"Kalhel, no!"
CLASSIC! Dude,you don't miss a trick.
That was so subtle 😂
No disrespect to Henry Cavill, but Christopher Reeve was one of the greatest casting choices ever. Dude was perfect.
Cavill was 100% a victim of Snyder's directing, unfortunately. I think he could've done an amazing job if he had a director more interested in Superman, and less interested in BADASS SHOTS and BADASS SHOTS and, oh, BADASS SHOTS.
@@nachgebenHenry Cavill would make a great Superman. If only someone had given the role. But I guess he was busy playing Mopey McMopeypants.
@@NSGrendelI wouldn't say Cavill looks *more* like Superman. They were both absolutely on point.
"Did he put himself in a love triangle where two other people were him" 😂😂😂
Well, no, then there would be three of him in triangle. There are only two of him in the love triangle, thank god.
I'm so happy you started this franchise! All 4 films are perfect for Pitch Meeting
Being this early to a pitch meeting is tight!
Yes sir it is 😊😊😊
Barely and inconvenience
Tight tight tight!
Yeah yeah yeah
I need you to get aaaaaall the way off of my back about my tardiness!
I like that they kept the glasses through the rest of the pitch.
"Unfillable voids are tight!". Pure gold. Ryan tu es un génie.
When the Producer guy put on his glasses my mind was blown
“Kal El, no!” Best line here.
Love how the glasses bit completely subverted expectations 😮
This is a genuinely good movie u think. Donner never forgot about the comic part of comic books and has all of his characters being good natured and humorous. The chemistry between Reeve and kidder is really charming.
The amount delight I had in me the day I learned that Christopher Reeve and me shared a birthday.. he will forever be my Superman..
no
Highlander pitch meeting still needs to happen...
I'll wait...
Pitch Keeping is a series with lots of episodes. In order for anything to be related to Highlander…
… there can be only one.
@@RideTheTeacupsso, Highlander 2 pitch meeting?
@@RideTheTeacups Highlander should've kept only one movie.
@@88porpoise There is no Highlander 2. It never happened. It was just a horrible fever dream, and we need never speak of it again.
@@matthewpatrick7263 Especially since the first ended with him being the only immortal left.
Highlander 1: Every immortal in the world gathers to battle to the death until only one remains.
Highlander 2: Turns out they were aliens and there were more immortals off planet.
Highlander 3: Ok, everyone ignore the alien plot of the last one, now there were just a few immortals left hiding in a cave during the first one.
Highlander 4: At this point, we're not even trying anymore.
Highlander 5: We made a fifth movie?!?!? Wow, we must have been really high.
This is my childhood movie. Can’t see it without getting emotional.
"Unfillable voids are tight!" might be one of my favorite uses of that phrase in Pitch Meetings ever 😂
"Say Jim! That's a bad outfit! Whooo!"
I adore this movie. It is the reason why Superman is still my favorite superhero. Thanks for going easy on it.
Ok, I didn't start watching the video until 3:12...who's the new guy wearing glasses?
It's obviously screenwriter guy's twin brother, i mean look at his glasses!
Unrecognizable.. 👓😅
I have been watching these videos for so long that I'm so convinced I'm watching two different people discussing a movie pitch, that even when producer guy threw on the glasses, didn't change a thing. Great bit. Always fresh content. Keep it coming brother.
The scene you showed the beginning of in Lois' apartment later had one of the best showpieces of acting ever, and proved how his disguise worked. He turned from Clark to Supes and back to Clark in about thirty seconds with body language and posture.
The interview scene at Lois’ apartment is just brilliant.
Indeed he was truly a genius. And he changed how Superman was depicted in the comics ever since this movie.
He loved that character and cats deeply for the role. And he made the most out of it.
i never thought about that...he's not fast enough to stop two missiles but he's fast enough to reverse time
I always chucked that up to "he didn't get the idea for it until Lois was dead in his arms".
This is also the primary catalyst for one of the first HISHE videos: ua-cam.com/video/yavK0mnE3wI/v-deo.htmlsi=HZaclwNoPo5Y708v

Superman theme is still one of the best movie songs ever.
John Williams is one of the greatest film composers in history.😊
No one will ever be a better Superman than Christopher Reeve. Watching his saves still gives me goosebumps
Love the "KRYPTIN" reference. EVERY TIME I hear Brando say that I chuckle. ❤❤
hhahahah yea one of the few lines Brando did bother try and learn :)
"And the potential death of millions wasn't enough?"
"Nooo."
Doug Walker's lividness with the turning the world back sequence is all coming back.
He's that other guy with the glasses!
HAHAHAHA "Kal-el no" was spot on!!
Peter: "Everybody, quick, give me some ideas on how Superman can fly around the earth and reverse time?"
Stewie: "A dead Lois?"
Getting to see a pitch meeting you requested is tight. Ryan you knocked this out of the park. Thanks!!!
The glasses gag was astounding. Well done.

I know right. A film about a comic book superhero? No way that’ll ever catch on
@@DanFarrell98
It’s not even based on reality! Why would anyone watch that nonsense??
Now, you look at the epic biopic on the life of Captain Steve “America” Rogers, based on the outstanding exploits of one of our nation’s greatest military leaders, and that’s a solid piece of historical documentation that doesn’t stoop to include unbelievable fantasy elements. I mean, you expect me to believe a man can fly??
You gotta do superman 2 now dude. Theres so much to discuss in the sequel…can’t wait. And if anyone was to convince you he was a different person with just glasses reeve was the guy to do it. As an adult you realize just how talented and perfect he was in that role.
Probably one of the funniest Pitch Meetings you've done so far. Superman is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it over 1000 times. And you've still made up points that I never even considered 😂😂😂
5:52 almost saw god for a second there, thanks!
I was seeing Satan. Maybe I should go to Church.
Being a huge fan of this movie I was a little worried about this pitch meeting, but after seeing the joke about the glasses got me 😂😂
Been a while since you did a movie that came out more than 2 weeks ago. Nice.
I missed the entire half of this. Couldn't stop staring at those glasses.
Jeff east, the actor who played teenage clark, was around 21 years old when he played him as far as i know
Bet he didn't need ID to buy alcohol.
That's closer in age than most teenage portrayals for the following 40 years I'd bet
And Clark is an alien, so him looking older than human teenagers makes sense.
Also, he's wearing a prosthetic nose and his voice is dubbed by Reeve so the difference between them seems even slighter. I've never been sure those were good choices.
And what about James Stewart from It's a Wonderful Life?
This might be the best pitch meeting yet. Ryan's masterpiece.
'Unfillable voids are tight!'
The math checks out.
Tight like a hotdog being thrown into a mine shaft!
1:52 Producer Guy’s existential crisis 😂
"Kal-El, No!"
I love you, man. Perfect.
There's a reason why this movie is still considered as a top ten superhero movie. Christopher Reeve's performance was perfection, Richard Donner's directing was superb, and the music was legendary.
Margot Kidder & Gene Hackman always bring their A game.
You've got me, but whose got you!?
@@Ceyx000 Margot was the best Lois, and Gene was great as Lex because he was charming and sinister. The whole cast was perfect, and a lot of that is because of the direction of Donner, and his whole stance on Verisimilitude. Donner treated Superman, and all the other characters as real people.
@@SamJ.J. Tom Mankiewicz wrote a tremendous script. Yes I know he got a "creative consultant" credit, but it was his script. There was humor in Superman, but the humor was natural, and not slapstick like in some parts of Superman 2, and lots of Superman 3. Mankiewicz also made the love story work.
I’m just so glad John Williams was the name attached the last time he and Jerry Goldsmith traded it back and forth due to delays causing one of them to become unavailable at a time.
"Kal El, No."
