TUNING A 90’s TUNER CAR (if you’re starting out) using Ecmlink v3 software

- Hi everyone!
This video is a compilation of some of the questions I've received and some of the beginner mistakes that I've noticed being made on some of the data logs that you guys have sent me over the past couple months. Some of this stuff is new and some of it was covered partially in the past uploads. BUT I feel like I didn't go in depth enough in some of my explanations. Hopefully this information helps you get some issues knocked out while dialing in your MAF car and helps you get back on the road. Again some of it goes a bit further in depth than the last video. Customization options, what not to do if your running MAF, some stuff to help with speed density idle and fuel/timing sprinkled in. Hope this helps, and sorry if the screen looks kinda fuzzy. I have to get a screen recording app for these types of uploads.

Thanks for the presentation. The screen/visuals/presentation was a little blurry, but the content is why I'm here.
It will only get better from here! Thanks
Great video. I've been thinking of doing a video too about this starting with a complete stock adjustments and then tune my car from 0
Do it man. Could always use the knowledge!! 👍
I Say you know something that you can share share it on UA-cam! Everyone always needs answers
@@TPGDSM Can I see coolant temperature on ECMLINK?
@@ElJaviTuning yes
@@TPGDSM Can I add oil temperature aswell?
Great explanation, thanks man
Great video and well explained. Keep up the good work and every bit of information for someone learning to tune is great to have.
Glad you found it useful
Great video as usual. Only real quirk I seen is the octane level that the ECU sees. It's not the direct octane of the fuel being used but what the ECU believes is being used, based on knock. As the ECU sees knock that value drops from 255, heading towards 0. When it does this it starts to interpolate from the max octane table to the min octane table. When it doesn't see knock over a certain period of time the octane number climbs back towards 255. With ECMlink they number resets at each start up.
Thank you for clearing that up!. I knew that it had something to do with interpolation between the two maps, I appreciate any and all information to share with me and the rest of the community we made here!. Keep any insight and advice coming my friend🤘💯👍👍
Great video bro ! And congrats on your new job!!
Thank you! The new jobs great, just wish I could
Make more content while I’m there😂
I've got a '99 GSX with the flashable ECU so I'll be using ECUFlash. Gotta learn it though. So far I've just datalogged with EvoScan
Been using it quite lately also, its a lot more technical and at the same time more risky. But a great learning curve!
Great way to go. Tiny bit more difficult then link but same results available. Definitely worth it both ways👍
I just bought a dsm with a tune from my buddies brother. Please keep posting i need help tuning!😭
Great video, nice work! I have a clarifying question on something you say at minute 30. You say you used basetipinadjust to help your car from stalling with a lightened flywheel. What did you adjust in basetipinadjust? I am having the same issue and would like to try that.
Thanks
Nice work as always bro.. u know anything on the pop and bang tunes?
Yes you just have to adjust timing and fuel cells. But that won't make your car any faster.
@@valadezjose47 right. Like add more fuel to the higher rpm and lower engine load?
If your using Ecmlink don’t bother trying to send extra fuel through the exhaust valves to make pops and bangs. Our platform doesn’t have a decel fuel table. If you have a 3in exhaust and use 2 step or anti lag you should get some noise. Stay sounding like a dsm and not your buddies crackle pop gti. (No disrespect at all to your question, I used to want to try to do it too🤫)
@@TPGDSM thought so I never seen any info. But I see how other platforms work and yeah I figured it wasn’t good for our motors
How do you have so many options I can only see basic stuff it doesn’t show me my fuel or boost it’s just rpm’s and speed and temps
@@talenhostetter7475 you have to add the metrics you want to see in the ecu tab. Click displayed values and move items from the left column to the right column and save it. Then right click your data log screen and click displayed values to add them to the display
@ thank you !!
@@talenhostetter7475 happy to help!💪
do you have a 1995 eagle talon ecu with ceddy mods like a black box or ecm link i have a 1995 eagle talon with a small 16g turbo basically stock i would like 2 step is this possible to get a ecm flash with that and my stock settings until i get it to a place that can tune it ?im in clarkston wa so i dunno where to take it i heard holland race in spokane but i dunno if they would
If you have a 95 you could send the ecu to Ecmlink.com and have the it socketed and they will be able to install you a Ecmlink flash chip and data cable. Thats your best bet. Ceddymods works too but is way more in depth for tuning beginners. I highly recommend sending the ecu to link to hook up for you. Best mod you can do by far to optimize every change in your set up
@@TPGDSM if i did send it off who do I take it to then it's not ez

How many miles on the car? And i see your from ny, you near utica?
Lots, 256k and yeah I’m upstate by the capital
Do you do remote tuning ?
Yes
Remote tuning how does that work?@@TPGDSM
@@1998gst4611 I use anydesk, have you connect to Ecmlink through your laptop and change things to fit your current set up.
@TPGDSM
How much do you charge? I'm still learning but I'd like for someone that knows what and how everything should be to make sure it looks good. I just finished my build but I'm auto which is something I'm not used too.
