I know what you mean about the dials. I’ve had two T120s with twin dials. Now I think the single dial looks pretty good in the centre. At 216kg it’s lighter and easy to live with. The trade in value gets less compared with the T100/T120 but if it’s a forever bike that’s not an issue. The seat is only an inch lower than the T120, but even so I’m planning to have it improved. Other than that it’s a fine bike for riding around smaller roads and lanes here in 🇬🇧.
Hello, i ride a speed 900 right now. My scrambler has a cylinder casting problem, so the dealer loaned me this bike. Its a nice ride and the bike feels fast! Happy trails.
I agree with everything. Also, a sixth gear would be nice. First thing I changed was the headlight bulb to an LED. Huge difference! Added some Viking throw over bags. Next is probably a seat. Or switching up to a scrambler 1200. Decisions… Overall after 8k miles I’d say it’s an easy going and forgiving bike for having reasonable fun in the back roads.
I read something on triumph rat forum on someone that wanted to put the dual T100 clocks on his street twin. Not sure if it’s possible ecu difference but worth a look. I have a ‘22 Street Twin as well bought in July’21. No problems… love it! Ride on! 🤟
I'll definitely keep looking into that Ross. I'm even thinking of switching out the tank too for more range. Heard that's possible with the Bonnevilles
Just bought an EC1 Street Twin and pick it up as my returning-to-riding bike in a few weeks! Will probably leave it in rain mode for a week until I get comfortable again.
Sounds like a plan! The ec1 tanks have a nice paint job. Take your time with the rain mode and get back to road mode when you're feeling ready. Cheers!
I've just started riding and bought a 2022 Street Twin here in England. It's such an easy bike to ride even as a novice. Being 5' 8" tall with a 30" inseam I can comfortably flat foot it. I've added bar end mirrors and the Bedlam slash cut exhaust and plan a few mods but it's fantastic as is.
I'm literally saving up for a Street Twin right now. I found a few 2019 models in the $5k range that have caught my attention. Love the Speed/Street Twins.
I’ve heard some chatter about random stalling and some other quirky behaviour from the newer triumph. Have you experienced anything like this? I really like this bike. I think it be perfect for me. I’m also from the nearest dealer so I don’t want a headache that I’ll have to trailer. I’d appreciate your opinion.
I had a 2022, until it got in a wreck..smh. But I never had an issue with stalling. Especially if it's new from the factory. You should be just find riding it back from the dealership. If you have any issues with it, don't hesitate to reach out.
I wish my Triumph Trident had the same gas tank as the speed twin 900. What I hate is the plastic inserts on the tank on mine. I would like to paint them gloss black to match the gloss black on the rest of the tank. Remove the red stripes which I think spoil the looks.
Thank you for this video. I live in SE Ohio where we have some great mtorocyle roads and just across the Ohio River from West Virginia which also has great motorcycle roads. Kentucky isn't too far either. SO we travel some highways to get where we want to go and I hardly ever go foaster than 65 MPH. I was wondering how much vibrations there is through the bars, seat and feet at such speeds. Thanks again, ride safe and enjoyu every journey.
If you not disabling O2 sensors, which I would not recommend you will waist just time with tunning. Bike has ECU with adjusting AFR in perfect every time and you milage per galon is good. I played with this bike my own alot and install AFR gauge and learned it auto tunes itself using fuel trims and MAF sensor. Even you make a change to the map and not disabling O2 sensors it will do nothing, it will keep adjusting for perfect AFR. Also if you disable O2 then you will loss alot more like what if atmospheric presure chjanges or altitude, bike will have no knowing and you will ride much wor, not to say engine logevity. Leave it as is and if you what more HP get Speed twin, it perfect bike. Also it no need remaping if you install x pipe or high flow filter, it will adapt itself.
Thank you for this helpful review with some good insights. Maybe I missed it but what is your body hight and do you feel cramped on longer rides, considering the low seat hight of the bike?
Not really tbh. I'm 5'11 190. I think handlebars and seat cushion dictate the comfort. I changed the seat to a crafton atlier seat and british customs retro bars. All seemed to fit and be very comfortable for hundreds of miles
Hi, very interesting Video. I'm going to buy one of these speed twin 900 my 2024. I have one big question: what about the engine overheating during the hot summer? Specially in a traffic jam? I live in Italy and summer could be VERY hot (like in NYC I guess...). I heard about some issues about this. Could you tell me something about it? Thanks in advance!
Hi Jorjo! I wouldn't be too worried about overheating, but I would say it does get hot. Nothing like a harley or indian cruiser. Those get REALLY hot. What helped was wrapping the exhaust. But either way, I wouldn't say it's something to worry about.
Just picked up a 2018 on private trade and hazards don’t work. No LEDs so no interference there. Took apart hazard switch, that works. Was able to engage each blinker manually through the hazard switch with test leads. But when I give power to both blinkers through the hazard switch, they won’t work. Any ideas anyone?
I talk about it a bit here: ua-cam.com/video/kjC4j8NVfSw/v-deo.html It works but nothing like electrical cruise control. There is some slippage in my experience.
My street twins side sensor gave me hell on one of the rides. Had to get the bike carried back to my city and state. Any suggestions? Should I get it removed?
Damn I'm sorry to hear that! Is it still under warranty? I'd get that checked out from a pro to see what's going on. Maybe just a replacement is needed.
Na I don't use it anymore. It looks bulky on the bike and I don't truly think it works well. I'd say it's better off to get a bike with CC if you want it.
You told us that the speed twin 900 would not be that good on the highways but you didn't say why. Why? Is it too slow to go 75 mph all day? If so, what about a sprocket change? Or maybe you don't recommend it because of the lack of wind protection. Couldn't you just add a small windshield?
In terms of it being stock I wouldn't want to ride it on the highway all day, but at the end of the day it comes down to preference. Sprocket changes could be a good idea, especially with no 6th gear. A windshield will definitely help if the rider is also ok with the look that addition would bring to the bike. I think a 6th gear and more power would have me feel more comfortable on the highway with it, but that's just me.

Whewww barely made it through the yellow light! Great video, I love my Street Twin
Hahaha you noticed that 😅
awesome review. I bought a speed twin 900 this week, waiting to pick it up. Planning to look up all your mods, bike looks super cool.
Thanks man! Hope you enjoy your ride!!

That's an awesome price point too! Enjoy it!
@@merxmoto 15k miles listed for $5,900. I'm hoping I can get them a bit lower with cash. Loved the video!
@@cloud9847 if you can get that to 5.5k cash 💸 a win! Either way not a bad price. And thank you!

Not much vibration! There are some but nothing compared to what you'd feel on an Indian or Harley I'd say.

The indicators work for turning but not for the hazard switch?
@@merxmoto correct. If I engage the hazards then the blinkers stop working until I turn the key off and on again.
Great video! Where did you get your gas cap?
Thanks! Got it from Motone Customs!
Is that an aftermarket cruise control that you added? Is so, does it work well and was it easy to do?

hey what are those brown grips on the bike. love the look of them
Hey! They are from Trip Machine! I have the cognac ones. The brown is a bit darker.
Actually in this video it's the brown. I eventually changed the brown to Cognac to match the seat.
@@merxmoto appreciate it they look amazing 👏🏾 getting my triumph next month and can't wait

Hi nice Ride! I have just sold my lovely 2022 1200 speed twin, do you think the new 900 will be enough?
Ponty Pete!
Definitely. If you sold it because you aren't using all of the 1200 or you think it's too much, you'll find that the 900 is a sweet spot. Enjoy!
@@merxmoto thanks, hope the new 900 has enough to hold my passion with it?

how is the insurance on it?
I've paid about $70 a month on it. Not bad at all in my opinion
Buy a T100, but you would pick that apart too. 😴
