This is a really informative video. I have been playing badminton for more than 10 years now. I had no idea what the signs on my rackets were. Honestly, I never paid much attention to it, other than the string tension. I play with borrowed rackets a lot and try to adapt my playing style according to what suits the racket. I definitely learned a lot about rackets from this video. You guys are doing a great job.

This is great help. As a returner, i have chosen the Auraspeed 70k. As much as i like the raket (bought a 2nd one), i had a few problems with arm strain. Its not very head heavy, but it weights around 90g. Keep that in mind, if your arm muscles are not fully adapted. I might try something lighter for playing friendly doubles.

Thanks guys for this, and including the part about grips, I had asked for this in a previous comment. I was suprised about preferring heavier rackets, I thought lighter the better. I have head heavy, stiff rackets now as I was getting tennis elbow with flexible rackets. Maybe the As90k would be a good fit to help with net shots, particularly drops. I'll definitely look into the Victor range regardless. Good tips always guys.

I'm a 53 yr old playing against great players in my club that are 1/2 my age or those around 30's, 40's. Really have been unlucky choosing a good flexible head heavy racket and one with good power to match the youngsters. I’m pretty fast on court specially at the net {for my age ;) } and a good racket would help me get that extra edge. Watch a lot of Badminton videos and make it a point to practice what I watch. Keeping my fingers crossed. Cheers

This is your most complex video yet, with awesome animated graphics, multiple film locations and excellent coverage of your training session! For my game, I'd like to keep improving my read on opponents' strengths and weaknesses - specifically playing shots that "look bad" but in hindsight are good. An example would be a lift that is just out of the opponent's smash range resulting a mishit on their part (or causes them to become out of position), or forcing a specific serve return that plays into a predictable set up for my partner to capitilize on.

@@BadmintonInsight That's super awesome to know you two will cover this topic. Yes, it's more apparent in doubles, especially at the club level when you know most people's playstyles and habits.
If you have ever heard of/watched the manga/anime Prince of Tennis, there's a character that utilizes "Data Tennis" to account for varying percentages on the likelihood of certain shots his opponents would make. Applying something similar in badminton can run up a couple of points and sometimes temporarily mentally "break" opponents because what we give them looks like an easy shot, but because something was off, or it played into our partner's strengths, it may result in their mistakes and loss of confidence.
This pretty much ties into the mental game that most people like to talk about, but don't really address. Most of the content on UA-cam is about incredible shots, agility, physical prowess, etc etc, and when they do talk about a player's mental game, they just say it's strong, but don't really explain in more detail. So, I'm hoping from both your perspectives, you two can make a video on what it takes to be mentally strong during game situations.
On the singles level, you could cover something like: Do you lose confidence if a certain shot is not working, do you stay stubborn to try and get that shot right risking mistakes and points, or do you change your playstyle and shot selection to stay in the game?
On the doubles level, how quickly can you maintain the mental pressure on one or both opponents? Can you afford to employ the same tactics in multiple points before they adapt, or do you mix it up and keep them guessing with little variations of the same play?
I know it's a lot to cover, but hopefully you two can break it up into palatable videos! =)

Thanks for the video Greg and Jenny! I use the jetspeed s10 because I love the speed of the racket. How do you think this racket compares with the auraspeed 90k? I also found I like the balance of the jetspeed which is even balance/slightly head light compared to head heavy rackets (like Greg mentioned). I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

A lot of this is down to preference, playstyle and ability. However, what I would say is similar to tennis, a head heavy racket over time can put a lot of strain on the shoulder.

I'm an all round doubles player.. however I love to play backhand smashes & its unique.. I'm currently using jetspeed 12 & hypernano 800 Ltd power both in 3U.. these are head heavy, very good for offence.. but lagging in defence/back hand.. wish to try aurospeed... by the way Nice video with clear explanation about rackets.. 👌
