    i played badminton for 20 yrs, this is the first video i saw of the stringing process, and it looks very interesting. i dont know if theres courses i can take in my city for it, but i do wanna learn to do it now. im not looking to make a career out of it, but if i were to buy my own machine to string my own rackets one day, what do you recommend? or what features should i be looking for? cuz by the time i learn this and decide to buy a machine, the current models might not be relevant anymore.

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  10 місяців тому +5

      I learned from watching videos online and also from the stringers at my club. I would say that if you are intersted in stringing for youself or for other people buying a machine and just figuring it out would be the best way to do it. As for wich machine you should get, I suggest to get any machine that is in your budget and not too old. The main features I would look for is a 4 point or a 6 point stringing machine, either hand crank or eletronic, and one that has its own stand since I find it to be eaier to move and place. LMK if you have anymore questions and I'll do my best to answer them!

      @@badmintonstuff ya i also asked on reddit and my friends in the last couple of days, apparently there really isnt any course to teach this, thats wild! i thought there would be a course for everything. so knowing that, im a bit hesitant to start this hobby cuz buying a machine first without knowing whether ill enjoy it is quite an investment considering even cheap second hand ones are hundreds of dollars, almost 1000, and i dont really have the spare cash right now, so...i will have to see, and maybe wait for a steal on the 2nd hand market.
      my original plan was to learn the basics in a course, and if i like it, then ill buy a machine to practice and eventually string my own

      Thank you! I’ve just been practicing for a long time. I imagine my fingers and string riding the “wave” of main strings, I don’t know if that makes much sense but I will try to make a video about stringing crosses one day. Let me know if you have more questions though!

  • @Nimac91
    @Nimac91 Рік тому +8

    I'm a bit surprised how good and easy you make the weaving look. I struggle a lot while doing that. It's very time consuming for me. Also another question I have. Is there a reason why you pre weave one of the cross strings before pulling the other? I see many others do the same but I am not sure why.

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  11 місяців тому +3

      The reason to pre-weave one of the crosses is so that the main strings will be already offset so when you go in to weave the next row it makes it a lot easier since the main strings are already slightly moved up or down and all I have to do is to push the head of the string through the opening. ua-cam.com/video/PHDv1NZFqBA/v-deo.html here is a video where there is a better angle of what I'm talking about with a bit more detail in the description!

    i used to string my own rackets after buying a gravity machine and a set of cheap string. then i got good and upgraded my tools and strings and eventually strung for a fw people in my local club - basically undercutting the local store. I started using ashaway zymax strings instead of classic yonex and people hated it.

    So what would the correct tension be for this racket would it be 25 ibs, 27 ibs or in between at 26ibs? im just curious because when i shop on joybadminton it only gives one number for ibs and im not sure if its the ibs for the main string, cross, or if the number is the median of both.

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  Рік тому +9

      The tension for this racket would be 26LB. When buying a racket, usually the listed tension is the median of both crosses and mains e.g 24lb means 23lb mains and 25lb crosses. Hope this helps!

    • @badmintonstuff

      For the cross I use about 184-188 inches (467-477 cm) of strings and for the mains I would use about 205-210 inches (520-533 cm) of string from the reel. You can use less string to restring a racket but this is the most efficient amount of string for me.

    • @MrHeng-cm8yp
      @MrHeng-cm8yp 9 місяців тому

      In my short time as a stringer for badminton, it depends on if you have starting clamps to support.
      Mains usually require 7 racket lengths + handle. Crosses usually require 6 racket lengths + handle. After you measure them, feel free to measure how many "arm pulls" you need by using the string you just cut. IMO, it's easier to just state racket lengths.

    I have a question. I love Aerosonic string but I break them more often than I would like, would it be a bad idea to use a more durable string for the mains but Aerosonic for the crosses to try and get a better feel but with more durability?

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  11 місяців тому +3

      That my friend, is exactly what Abite is lol. If you use bg 80 for the mains and Abite for the crosses it basically becomes areobite. The strings will last longer but it won't feel the same as complete asonic . I recommend you try bg 80 for the mains and asonic for the crosses and see how it feels and then test other strings as well, just make sure that the cross string's gauge is thinner than the mains. Hope you have fun!

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  Рік тому +1

      Are you pulling 2 strings at the same time? If you are only pulling 1 string then there is a high likelihood of it snapping. It might also be because your knot is not good enough and it snaps at the knot. Hope that helps!

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  7 місяців тому +3

      Because I can pre weave the mains more if I don’t use the knob but since I have excess string when pre weaving the cross I can fully loop the string around the knob. When you loop the string around the knob it almost acts like a pre stretch so if you don’t use it it doesn’t affect the anything.

    Hello, I have a fake replica racket. It can handle 30 pounds. I'm planning on stringing it with 27 pounds tension with four knots. Is it a bad idea? Does four knots be bad for my racket? Also, seeing internet advice about the cross strings should be tensioned at 10% higher than the main strings, should I do that?

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  11 місяців тому

      Usually, 27 pounds is not going to break a racket unless it is a very cheap replica. Make sure that the replica that you have is of good quality and if you deem it to be good then you can string it at 27 pounds. When you string crosses just make sure the tension is 2 pounds higher than the mains so for 27 LB you want to string the mains at 26 and the crosses at 28. Hope that helps!

    Is there a reason why you start at the middle with the stringing and than altanate between left and right?

    • @badmintonstuff
      @badmintonstuff  10 місяців тому +8

      Starting from the middle ensures that the tension is evenly distributed on both sides of the racket. Also it's not good to tension just one side because when tensioning the racket, the racket warps it a little bit, so if I were to just do one side first it would warp the racket too much and it might break since the other side isn't under stress at all.
