Thank you skid factory crew for talking about mental health. My old good friend decided on New Year’s Day he no longer wanted to be in this world. Sadly leaving his daughters behind.. if only we knew how bad he was suffering. He was surrounded by friends the night before, was always the centre of any group or party. Gone but not forgotten.

I ache for the pain these strong men felt before they let it all go. Suicide isn't weak, society is weak for not understanding it. That is what this is about.

I have been through so much after a work injury. Depression from chronic pain and feeling useless due to my injuries is not a fun way to live. I literally just yesterday had the worst mental breakdown i've ever had, over nothing because I bottle it up and keep it inside. I have wanted to end it so many times, not having to deal with the anguish and pain anymore but just can't do that to my wife and kids. So sorry for your loss, mental health is not something to take lightly.

I had a good mate, he was never really happy nor really depressed, was just sort of in the middle consistently. He had trade qualification, a partner and a house. One night he organised about 20 mates go out clubbing, we had a phat time he was the happiest we'd seen him for months. We all went to our homes at the end of the night, when he got home he had a shower, put his best suit on, wrote a letter and ended his life. His girlfriend found him early that morning. It didn't occur to anyone that night that anything was wrong but he was saying goodbye he made peace with his demons thought that was what he had to do and committed to it. Suicide does not remove the pain it merely shifts it to your family.

So anyone reading this and wondering if your alone trying to escape into youtube to numb yourself pay attention. You'll be ok, but do something about it. Start small or start huge, it's never too late as long as you're still here. And someone wants you here still. Someone just wants to help. Ask for help and be specific, someone will help you. Just keep asking. Don't give up.

Devastating news fellas. Sorry to hear 😰
Just remember dudes, that's a permanent solution for temporary problems. I appreciate your last sentence, but I would like to point point this out: For someone who battles suicidal thoughts (I speak from personal experience) the problems are not "temporary". The whole point is that the problems are (seem to be) insurmountable; that is why people want to end the pain. I know you meant well, but your analogies just belittle the pain as "stupid overreaction". I promise you, I'm not overreacting to how much I hurt.

Sorry for your loss Al. I lost 2 close friends to the black dog last year. One of those got cross-wired through a bush telegraph to me that it was my youngest son that had taken his own life. Just remembering that feeling is like a punch in the gut even now. I myself have battled depression and suicidal ideation from a young age (thanks to a head injury 38 years ago) and acquired PTSD 4 years ago. I know I'm not alone here in saying your channel (and a few others) has been a part of my own mental wellbeing. Keep doing you Al, you're a good bloke. Yeah, you too Woody, cheers!

Sorry for your loss mate. I went down with CPTSD two years ago. I've been a stupid asshole who brushed off a lot of good advice about mental health, but funnily enough necessity is the mother of all invention: Standard mindfulness meditation (the kind without all the mantra stuff, incense and pling-plong music) has helped me a ton. I rarely get attacks anymore (also helped a lot by not going out in rush hour!) and my concentration is slooowly improving again.

On more than one occasion I've considered finding a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I've lost friends too. What kept me around? Good, close friends & family, not losing my sense of humor, keeping an attitude of gratitude, not giving up 5 minutes before the miracle happens. My friends that have committed suicide have not fully died in vain, I keep them in mind when foolish temporary thoughts strike at me.
Grief, pain, hopelessness, confusion, anger when shared and spoken about is divided. Hope, strength, experience, joy, humor when shared is multiplied.
Great work and a great message you two.
Love & Peace from the USA.

As a mental health professional, I want everyone who struggles to know that it does get better. I know that sounds cliché, but I've seen so many people over the years who were in the deepest despair with no hope make a full recovery, as long as they didn't give up. Take Al's advice, talk to someone, they do care and you aren't a burden. Trust that professionals can help you if you'll give them that chance. My condolences to Dylan's family and friends.

You'll get through it mate. Keep talking, keep looking for things that brighten your day - a simple distraction can really help you switch mental gears.

Thoughts and prayers rarely does the trick. Talking to a good professional who has to keep everything confidential has a much better track record for one simple reason: When it's your mind that's gone a bit out of alignment you can't trust the readings you're getting from it. You can't really trust your own thoughts. You need someone else to double check them.

And for you Al for talking about your own mental health experience, that's so powerful for someone who's thinking that they are unique in what they are suffering. I've never commented on a UA-cam video in my life but felt I should say how much I appreciate your comments about mental health, especially during these weird times we are living through. Things are tough at the moment for many people and it is great that you guys are encouraging people to talk and get help. Yours is by far my favourite youtube channel. Keep it up guys!!

Grew up watching Aussie50 here on UA-cam from 2008. He was an Australian mechanical engineer and loved to fool around his workshop. I was devastated when I heard what happened to him since he played a big role in shaping my interests on hobbies. Too many people in the engineering/technician field suffer from mental issues due to being expected acting "manly". Its not weak to speak. RIP Dylan and condolences to his family

Al is the man. Thank you for highlighting this issue about your friend Dylan.
Also, having been through this recently, if one of your mate has or tried to suicide, don't be surprise if you're feeling somewhat out of sorts after, too.
As Al says, get help. But as importantly, if your first port of call isn't working for you, please, please, try another professional.

About the question for the bracket:
    Al: "Why though?"
Me: This was setup in that way cause of acoustics reasons, so the horn has sound boost in the bumper. Can bet ya now the horn is gonna sound wimpy.
On another note, great project and good job guys! Keep it coming we will be watching.
