I'm a DIY homeowner. I have a fence I need to stain, interior rooms I need to paint (4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and living areas) and other miscellaneous furniture/woodworking projects. Would the X7 suffice or should I go larger?
Thanks for the comment! The X7 would definitely do the job, however for on-going projects and longevity of the sprayer, I would consider the next step up, being the ProX17. The ProXChange pump on the ProX17 can be replaced overtime, whereas the X7 is a tad more difficult to replace. You benefit with the additional hose length (15m on the ProX17 versus 7.5m on the X7), and a better handpiece (SG3 gun with a swivel to the hose on the ProX17, versus the SG2 gun with no swivel on the X7. It’s great for spraying cabinets if you’re not a full time cabinet maker/professional painter. If it’s a project you’re looking to knock over, it’s going to be fantastic. I would definitely recommend using the FFLP tips we provide in the bonus kit - either the FFLP210 or 310, these will atomise a lot better than the included TrueAirless tips to provide a nicer finish. If you’re a full time cabinet maker, I’d recommend looking at our FinishPro HVLP sprayers. I hope this helps!
@@AntonioPerez-hv1lp this sprayer should last you quite a bit taking care of it. he said you should spray only about 15 liters daily which is less than 5 gallons a day but we had the project sprayer, spraying ceilings about 10 gallons per job and it lasted about a year before it burned out and that little thing was only ment for small jobs like maybe 2 gallons daily so this one which has a stronger motor should last longer
Big difference overall. The 390PC has the Endurance Piston Pump, which is a lot larger and longer lasting for trade and contractor applications. The motor is also bigger, which helps deliver higher flow rates, and is suitable for more frequent use. If you're spraying complete interiors and exteriors a couple of times a week at a minimum, as a contractor or serious hobbyist, the 390PC is the choice over the X7. The X7 is perfect for the DIYer or renovator painting a few homes a year, or multiple small projects. Hope that helps!
You said you could spray oil base paint but not flammable liquids. Oil base paint is flammable and the solvent to clean up is definitely flammable. That said, I've been spraying oil based primer all day and cleaning up with acetone. Am I playing with fire?
definitely some double talk there, I believe the unit is designed to spray water based material because it has a brush-electric motor that can cause sparks. I would think that if you kept the spray unit in a separate area while using oil paint it shouldn't`t be an issue.Where an issue could occur would be the unit in an enclosed area that you created excessive over spray of a flammable material and the unit DID spark. 💣🤞you wouldn't`t enjoy that....
I stopped using Acetone to clean my sprayer, it actually ruined the seals. Mineral Spirits is the solvent to use. I sprayed all the eves on my split level home, 1st story and 2nd story. Oil based primer is the way to go if you have old, unpainted wood, BUT, the overspray travels forever! Had my car parked at least 50 feet away on a relatively calm day. Overspray all over my car, and that stuff isn't easy to get off!! Had to mask everything, but water based primer wasn't covering, I tried several. Anyway, it's done now, thanks for the tips. Oh, and spraying outside with oil base and cleaning up with mineral spirits was ok, but then maybe I was just lucky.
@@paulcalif I just retired, I painted for 40 years. I miss oil based primers and interior oil for trim. Yes mineral spirits to clean the airless is better than Acetone, Acetone iv very hot and evaporates quickly. You gotta learn the hard way with oil outside, your right about the travel regarding overspray, I`ve been on jobs where oil primer travel hundreds of feet and attached to vehicles. Glad everything worked out for ya`....

So the x7 works but the pump isnt changeable so once again American greed proves itself rather then making it so the part can be fixed they make it as a but till it breaks then buy a new one…….. no wonder the US econ sucks
500 litres won't wear out this machine - it is an annual guide to give you an idea as to what the sprayer can handle. If you're spraying 500 litres a year, we'd recommend getting some of the valves and components deep cleaned on serviced at these intervals. If you're planning on spraying more than 500 litres per yer, the X7 might be a bit small for your projects, and you should consider the ProX17. I hope this helps!
Hey Wanye, great question! This unit has a maximum tip size of 517. You won't have a problem at all with the wood paint because these are typically thinner than standard paint. With your masonry paint however, this might be a bit too thick and I'd recommend checking the TDS of the paint you plan to use - it should have a tip size recommendation on there. As long as its below 517, you should be fine. Hope this helps! 🙌
Hey Ubern, Spraying a roof is a tricky one because it typically requires a much larger machine to handle the thicker membrane of a roofing paint. For a one time use something like the Graco 650 would be ideal. With the amount that you are spraying and with roof painting in mind, I would recommend going with one of the professional units, like the 650. Hope this helps!
Hey Alexander! The main suction tube (thicker in diameter) goes in the paint bucket, and the smaller diameter drain tube goes in the waste pail for priming/flushing. Once the paint has circulated through the pump in the prime position, straight paint will drain out of that tube. You then clip the drain tube against the main suction tube, and both can sit in the main paint bucket! I hope that helps.
It doesn't need to be cleaned inbetween coats! If you submerge the handpiece in water, and relieve pressure in the machine, as long as there is no air entering the system, it will be OK to wait until the coat is dried to reapply.
Hey I have a graco x17 and i want to spray deck over. It says on the can I can use between a .027 - .035 tip with no filter what would you recommend? A 517? Or just use the tip that the unit came with?
You CANNOT spray deckover....it must be rolled and it has to be with a special nap roller -Use product when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90˚ F (10-32˚ C). -Use pressure while rolling and apply a generous, even coat using a 1/2" nap roller. -For a smoother texture, use a brush or thinner nap roller (i.e. 1/4"). -Maintain a wet edge when applying. -Avoid painting if humidity is expected to be greater than 80%. -For vertical surfaces such as railings, use a nylon/polyester brush or roller and apply two thin coats at a spread rate of 400 sq. ft. per gallon. -For edges, corners and in between wood boards, apply using a nylon/polyester brush. -Do not use with airless sprayer.
Throat seal liquid actually isn't required in the X7! The unique piston pump design has a wiper seal that is prelubricated, and will automatically apply to the piston rod. Pretty nifty for the DIY units - one less thing to worry about!
Good question! Nothing scary or catastrophic happens after the 500L voluem per year - this is purely a guide that Graco has provided as a manufactuer to ensure you're buying the right sprayer for your job. If you're spraying 1,000 - 2,000L a year on average, we'd definitely recommend a bigger sprayer! If you're pumping 800L for the year through the X7, it'll be more than fine, but we recommend staying on-top of cleaning and flushing for preventative maintenance.
I'm not the video creator, but I spray 25 gallons+ in one day at least once a month with this same machine. 10 gallons of killz and 15 gallons of exterior paint. after about a year (12 jobs)the pump will go out. I either replace the pump or buy a new unit...

@brandonward2619 Yes. They can rebuild them for about $400, so it's not even worth it (new one at HD is $450+/-). I know 150-200 gallond doesn't sound like a lot, but the average home takes about 20 gallons of exterior paint for 1 coat and will last 5 to 10 years. In your life time you might need to use it 5 to 10 times so in that respect, if taken care of properly should last you most of your life. These are by no means meant for a professional painter. We have a Graco 490 pc pro lowboy and it was $1800. This machine will do 400 gallons before needing a rebuild and the pump is around $200.

This machine cannot spray cementicious, or textured coatings. I would recommend checking out the Graco FastFinish Pressurised Hopper Gun for these applications!
Spare parts definitely are available for this unit! The entire pump replacement is a bit tricky however. If you're concerned regarding the overall longevity of the unit, please consider the ProX17 or ProX19 as an alternative model, that easily supports the ProXChange replaceable pump!

I need to spray 6 door frames in my house. What is the minimum paint volume pot the x7 can accept. Will it work with a 4 litre paint tin allowing for paint needed to prime the unit?
The minimum that we would recommend is at least 2L - it generally takes 200/300mL to prime the 7.5m hose before spraying. You can definitely use 2L at a time and will be suitable for spraying just your woodwork, definitely recommend!

I have an X9 cart style and I regret the decision to buy cart style. In and out if buckets becomes so annoying.

Can I spray Kilz High Build primer with the X7?
I gotta say this primer is like pancake batter, so I'm worried it might be too thick for this machine.

The X7 has a maximum tip size of 17 thou - so won't handle a 620 tip. It works really well with all tips up to the FFLP616 as the maximum tip size

For your small buinsess, given you'll be spraying a fair bit longer than most (assuming the longer fences), I would go for the Pro210ES!

I have the x5. Used it for 3 years all oil base paint. Just run thinner through it after you are gone painting.
