You are the only guy I've seen online who actually uses the oil filter drain plug, great stuff all of the others take the filter off full of oil and make a hell of a mess. Great Stuff, one of the cleanest oil changes that I've seen
Best video I've seen straight to the point not all that talking...I'm going to build one of those ramps....step by step instructions I have 2006 750i thanks for the video
Great video and ditto on using the oil filter housing drain plug correctly. Everyone else misses that correct procedure. Only thing I would do differently is to apply a little oil to the o-rings as they go back on to prevent any abrasions. Great DIY 5W40!
Thanks for showing the proper procedure with the filter drain plug. Many other DIY videos skip that step or even provide incorrect info as to what it really is.
GREAT video. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I've always serviced my own vehicles which has included 2 740iL's now in a 750Li. So am trying to learn the differences. What are the proper torques?
NIce Job..I have a 2007 ..same car..Its leaking like a siv..I can see the outline in front from the oil pan..I hear there are two upper and lower..Is it really as big a pain to change these gaskets as they say..suspension removal, sub frame?I have the parts..Im tempted to give it a shot.I have ramps..Not sure if I have the cearance? Thanks,Pietro
Excellent, thanks for this! Is that a torque wrench you're using (you might want to explain how much force/torque to apply for us newbies)? Also, could you please list the make/model of your filter of choice?
I don't use a torque wrench but list the torque in detail info already :-) The filter kit I use is Hengst OEM - Oil Filter; Cartridge Type With Seal, Part #11427542021 or Mann HU 823 X
Good question, I am bit lazy I have done many times on many cars on this way, most I can feel where I should stop but not recommend, but IT IS DANGEROUS over torque! Some time I use a painted marker between housing and oil pan as a guide. :-)
I cant begin to tell how nice the absence of talking was. I think I will VOMIT coat hangers if I have to watch one more video that starts with "Hey Guys......"
I have double checked with my previous works photos, that cooper washer that fall from pack and lying on the floor is for oil drain plug, the housing small plug only have a rubber O ring for seal.
5 to 7 thousand over one year to be safe on valve stem seals and the goody. Both harmed by oil varnishing caused by heat. But oil scientist can tell you more.
Mark Berenger That’s right. I think it’s at least $60-$70 just for parts. Not sure where you can get a $35 oil change unless it’s from Jiffy Lube using conventional. I prefer to do them myself as well.

Hi, I just bought a 2006 bmw 750i for $3,300 with 113,000 miles. Are these reliable cars? Should I be worried about the tranny going out soon?
@@josephfoster30 I’m at 203000 atm still going just burns a little oil
I needed this especially the tools. I already have the parts including oil. Gotta go get those tools tomorrow and do an oil change.
worked like a charm for me, thank you very much.

The proper torque printed on the housing [25Nm] if my memory services me right.
I've never used a torque wrench in 40 years of oil changing.
Will all the oil come out of the engine if the car is parked at this angle?

there are some videos around and it does seem like major surgery, good luck
Ramps are also BMW : Built My Way
i was wondering if the video was done before they started selling those cheap ones at walmart
Great Post...... Love it.. Please Keep Posting....
good video thanks this engine take 8 litters with oil. filter
Very nice video well done.
So is the bronze ring that comes with the smaller o ring is not needed

Thank you for this video. Just a question: is dangerous for the engine to do this procedure without a torque wrench? Do you use to do on this way?
It is best to use torque wrench at first place, I did this way more than 015+ year without issue, just a bit lazy but confident of my hands.
Good question, I am bit lazy I have done many times on many cars on this way, most I can feel where I should stop but not recommend, but IT IS DANGEROUS over torque!
Some time I use a painted marker between housing and oil pan as a guide. :-)
I already updated torque info.
Self explanatory video, and awesome ramps.
hey guys what are the 3 socket sizes? the drain, the filter drain and the socket to remove filter? Thanks for saving me time and money
Did anyone see the piece of foil that flew out of the oil container and went straight in to the hole just like a damn Olympic diver.

Damn. You're right. But most likely it won't cause any damage or clogging. It will get shredded

😂😂 I really laughed at the coat hangers
Those are some awesome ramps! Did you build then yourself? Or did you purchase them somewhere?
I built this ramp 13+ years ago and still feel it strong, just a couple pieces of 2x10 or 2x12 may better
Homemade 15 years ago! :-)
Bmw how to change Oil
good detailed video
good job and i bet your saving like $90 or so i am buying a 760li soon v12 what kinda of fuel mileage you seeing
Did you ever buy the 760li ?
Torque for drain plug? Nm?
18lbs if I'm not mistaken
did that washer lying on the floor not fall of the nut where you fitted the small o ring
I have double checked with my previous works photos, that cooper washer that
fall from pack and lying on the floor is for oil drain plug, the housing small plug only have a rubber O ring for seal.
Awesome video
im about to save about $200....thanks for the video
how did you made that ramps? what size lumber did you use i like the Ramps more the Oil change.
15 years ago handmade, 2"x10" @ 6‘ long bottom.
:-)
On the information listed under the video, what does number 5 mean with two different torques?
Никто не заморачивается, оригинал масло ,фильтр. Сами поменяли. И все.
Do the 2007 BMW 750li have a oil dipstick?
No
Yes they do lol
@@NovaRambo4427 , the computer displays it through card data in the iDrive.
No
Yes I have a 2007 and it does have a dipstick
Excellent! thank you.
Was going to spend $40 on a Rhino Car ramp, but after seeing the video, I'm making my own. Thanks for the idea.
Are you still alive?
@@mphochabalala3293 😂😂
Thank you..
hello, what are the m18 and m12 in the no5 in your description?
I have a year 2010 750Li are they the same steps?
I think so, but oil should meet BMW LL04 for turbo engine
I think it should be the same steps.
does the oil filter not sit in the engine bay. 2008 750i e36
2008 750i is E65 N62 Engine not E36, I think oil filter should be at the same location not sit in the engine bay
Sorry man I meant e65 not e36 got confused as I own both models. Thanks
Like how he doesn't say anything
:-)
lol
It sounds at the end like it didn't won't to start
That oil lasts for how many miles?
5 to 7 thousand over one year to be safe on valve stem seals and the goody.
Both harmed by oil varnishing caused by heat.
But oil scientist can tell you more.
Whats the difference between a 750i and 750li?
C"mon man the li is just longer then the I, other then that engine wise it’s the same.
The Li is roughly 6" longer and is technically the series that you can be chauffeured in.
Nice
Looks like he put only 6 quarts? 7 series take 9
Wouldnt use a torque wrench as a breaker bar
I always flush my crankcase with kerosene. About half a pint will do fine.
lol good shit
It's a shame all of this complexity for something as simple as an oil change doesn't result in greatly improved engine life.
Complexity?
