Hey, Brian. I just want to thank you again for giving me the confidence to talk to my dealership about the repair. They agreed to reduce the cost of the repair by $100. You are my hero.

Good video. Just to share with others some models like 2005 S doesn’t have enough room to get a pry bar in and have to use a cv inner puller. The one on the video has a good opening for the pry bar. I wasn’t that lucky 2:50

Does a universal boot still work with the trilobal shaped joint?

Thank you so much, Brian! When my spouse came home after taking my '05 Corolla in for an oil change and inspection, my paperwork indicated that I needed to replace my right front inner CV boot. It advised that it was starting to leak. The mechanic quoted a price of $458.75 for the job. Does this sound reasonable to you? It looks like the kind of job I am not equipped or experienced enough to tackle. Thanks, again!

Skaredy Kat hello. To replace the CV boot is about an hour and a half labor. I'm in Southern California and most shop labor rates go from 95 to 125 per hour. The parts are around 35 bucks.(boot and clamps) So it "sounds a little high to me. In less they quoted you for a whole new axle.

Thank you! They gave me a write up that indicates just the right front CV boot. I must divulge that I do my service through the dealership, realizing that they charge more; however, I can get them to stand behind their work. When I have had issues with their service and/or repairs, they make it right. Since I don't know cars, this seems to be my only protection. I wish you were here in AZ!

Skaredy Kat I would love to have you as a customer. But you can always come to me for advice. Sounds like the dealerships not that bad if they stand behind their work. Thank you for writing to me.

Hey Brian, what size socket did you use to tap in the new dust cover/transmission seal?

I’m not sure on that one but usually they are not.

Hi i have a question, i just replace both of my CV axles on my Toyota Corolla 2004, but my originals cv axles don’t have the ABS Reluctor Rings and my after market Cv axles does have them and its making some noise. Is it posible to remove the ABS Reluctor Rings from my aftermarket without any damaging? Thank you for your help.

Alfredo Gomez most of the time the rings are pressed on and you can remove them.

Hi Brian, does it need an alignment after replacing the cv boot or if they replace the lower control arm for this 05 corolla. Thank you

    Good video, i've just subbed.
What do you call that crimping tool that you used to fasten the cv boot with?

My corolla makes a loud humming noise when i drive over 50 mph. Sounds like i have an exhaust problem but don't. Would this be a symptom for a CV boot or axle ?

Brian Thompson more like a bad Wheel bearing.
