What Is a Pip?
Pip is an acronym for "percentage in point" or "price interest point." A pip is the smallest price move that an exchange rate can make based on forex market convention. Most currency pairs are priced out to four decimal places and the pip change is the last (fourth) decimal point. A pip is thus equivalent to 1/100 of 1% or one basis point.1
For example, the smallest move the USD/CAD currency pair can make is $0.0001 or one basis point.
What Is A Pip?
How Pips Work
A pip is a basic concept of foreign exchange (forex). Forex pairs are used to disseminate exchange quotes through bid and ask quotes that are accurate to four decimal places. In simpler terms, forex traders buy or sell a currency whose value is expressed in relationship to another currency.
Movement in the exchange rate is measured by pips. Since most currency pairs are quoted to a maximum of four decimal places, the smallest change for these pairs is 1 pip.
Japanese yen (JPY) pairs are quoted with 2 decimal places, marking a notable exception.1 For currency pairs such as the EUR/JPY and USD/JPY, the value of a pip is 1/100 divided by the exchange rate. For example, if the EUR/JPY is quoted as 132.62, one pip is 1/100 ÷ 132.62 = 0.0000754.
Pips and Profitability
The movement of a currency pair determines whether a trader made a profit or loss from the positions at the end of the day. A trader who buys the EUR/USD will profit if the euro increases in value relative to the US dollar.
Now, let's consider a trader who buys the Japanese Yen by selling USD/JPY at 112.06. The trader loses 3 pips on the trade if closed at 112.09 but profits by 5 pips if the position is closed at 112.01.
While the difference looks small in the multi-trillion dollar foreign exchange market, gains and losses can add up quickly. For example, if a $10 million position in this set-up is closed at 112.01, the trader will book a $10 million x (112.06 - 112.01) = ¥500,000 profit. This profit in US dollars is calculated as ¥500,000/112.01 = $4,463.89.

Got my 20 pips in 30 minutes. USD/CAD, NY Session
Made slight modifications to how I identify my zones, marking the high and low of the area on the 5m, using FIBS from bottom to the top of the area to mark mid point, then using FIBS again from mid to high and mid to low for price action/entry zones. Went down to 1m to give me more time to enter, then I traded from zone to zone using the break + retest you just taught. (Identified 3 line strike + engulfing candle for 1 of the trades) This will be the strategy that I use for my next 100 trades. Thank you so much!

Hi Arty. Loving your content since a friend introduced me to your channel. I’ve built this unconventional strat for cable where I have a 5 to 6 pip stop loss but a 27 pip tp. Win rate is around 35% but I’m consistently netting around 65 pips a week with it. It feels a bit weird but it’s working for me however I’m not sure how sustainable it is so I’m trying to find something more conventional and your videos are helping in that quest.
you should never make a stoploss under 10 pips it s to dangerous.try 10-13 pips and you will have awin rate about 50-60%
Your risk to reward is about 1:4 or more. You can have a win rate of about 25% and technically break even. You should be making profits over time but I don’t think you should ever make rigid stop and tp as I think it should depend where support and resistance are generally. Hope that helps some and good luck.

Love your straightforward strategies. Wonder what your thoughts are on strategy after consolidation then huge moves that seem to be happening on the major pairs. What do you look for after those huge moves in one direction? It seems to completely eradicate market structure and consistent trend. Reference GU, EU, UC and AU today London and NY session... thx!
For FX I've always gunned for 6 to 12 pips, unless its GBP or JPY pairs where a single move can go up to 20 pips. WIth 70% ranging movements, I scratch my head at traders who aim for 100 pip moves intraday. Love your entries via engulfing candles although my default entries are usually based on overbough oversold on the two period RSI. Often when price on H1 or H4 hits 95 or 5, it speeds the opposite way like a drug addict evading coppers
100 pips ain't hard lol. But scalping for 10-20 for low hanging fruit adds up

I agree that in my time looking at charts, the 200 ma has been one the rare indicators with any sort of reliability.
My problem is more how to set up alerts to catch trades without having to spend hours staring at the danm thing.
Any advice about that?

2) Something you do that confuses me is in some videos you say that you should always have a profit to loss of 2:1 but then occasionally don't follow that in your videos, here you are using 1:1 and I've also seen you do things like 1.3:1.
