Thanks so much for this video Zack! I just came back to let you know I used your tips and mindset help to finally drop in on a vert ramp!! Aw man it feels so good to break through that barrier! (put the vid of my first drop in on my channel if you care to see). What an exhilarating feeling! I just want to keep skating vert more and more haha. Love the transition style videos from you and Al, and am looking forward to more so I can keep learning how to skate the big stuff! You both rip on transition!

Hyped on Al's channel! Glad you guys made this video, never thought of the bigger transition being "slower" but it makes total sense. I have been a bit fearful because of the extra speed skating vert, but the tips you guys mentioned are so true. Going up to the coping you have so much more time to adjust and make your movements vs on smaller ramps! Mash!

@@its7494 I've been skating for a few years now, and I prefer skating, but scooting is still fun, so it's probably not best to tell others to quit something that they might like, also skaters being mature is a stereotype, 2000s skaters? Sure, mature, but now that skateboards are more widespread -ahem- walmart -ahem- more and more kids have been getting into it.

@@bob-wz2fb yeah I mean I kind of see where you're coming from but from my personal experience I have met too many scooter kids to count that scream about Fortnite, wear AF1s and run around with no sense of skatepark etiquette whatsoever with and without their scooter but I have never in my entire time skateboarding met any skater kids that have been anything other than someone that I could call a homie. They're all super chill, keep an ear out for other skaters, they watch and learn. Skateboarding attracts a certain type of person. Someone committed, someone who feels at home in the skate community and thats because of the sheer amount of time, pain and perseverance skateboarding takes. That's why they're all chill. Someone who doesn't feel at home just won't do it, they'll ride Scooters instead. Scooters are easy and attract little shits with their parents credit card and think they own the place. They give me a headache man, they don't have a bad rep for no reason.

:( The fear thing is right, it applies in all kinds of skating. My biggest fears are transition and stairs. I can’t do any tricks on transition, and there’s this ramp at my skatepark, I’ve dropped in there for like a thousand times, but each time I go, it is sooo scary and idk why. I get frustrated by that. I wish I could just do it instead of questioning and stressing. (It only happens the first time). Anyways I hope that someday I’ll break that mental barrier :).

I ride 169s, the wider the more truck room for grinding for sure. 56mm are pretty good for tranny but I tend to lean towards 54mm because I still like being low to the ground. Deck size is always around 8.5, whenever I go under 8.375 I’ll loose board control.

Dropping in isn't the first thing to learn on a ramp...
You need to learn to pump first, then kick turn, then maybe even rockfakie before drop in.
If you drop in first, you arent gonna know how to speed up, slow down, balance or turn and the chances are you are gonna slam when you meet the other side of the ramp lol
