We hit Linda Vista skatepark so @AlBrunelle can break down the basics of How To Skate a Bowl, Mini Ramp, or any Transition. We cover How To Fs Grind, Carve Grind, Fakie Air, and Smith Grind on Bowls, Mini Ramps or any Transition.
Let me know what you think! I thought Al explained the tricks good while not taking it to serious and having a good time.

Such a great video. Linda Vista rocks.
I'm goofy frontside grinds came very natural to me when I got sick of always doing backside. People at my skatepark think they're big deal but they're pretty easy imo

Kosmotdga Kloestuer ♥️🤘
As sa dude who’s been practicing transition in bowls now for a about 2 months, your hip never really quite stops hurting while you’re learning because of crashes exactly like the one at the end of the video 😂

Down! What trick should I have him do?
Thease videos help me so much...ty
Actually a helpful tutorial
What a legend
Anyone have any tips on how to get started skating transition? It looks so insanely fun im just not sure where exactly to start, i can pump and do low carves on pool walls but how do you get started grinding and doing slides in a pool or transition? Any tips would be HUGELY appreciated.
Even tho he says to avoid it something that has helped me break that barrier is getting very comfortable just under the coping. pumping to fakie and kick turning
Especially at bigger/more flowy parks you can keep taking it to bigger walls as you get more comfy and b4 u kno it u will get some accidental 5-0 bumps as u start going faster.
Then I caught my self doing baby ass rock to fakies on accident as well.
Did you get there yet?
@@tomgreenwood1030 Skating transition and more intense skating has been put on the back burner at this point in my life due to college and work. Sadly no, i can pump well and ride transition but cant consistently drop in or do tricks on a ramp yet.
@@thesodathief if you want to progress, there are channels on UA-cam with the kind of tips you were asking about: Skate park lesson, Ben Degros, Chad Caruso, and Jon Bishop are all super helpful.
My problem is hanging up on the way back in, my wheels don't seem to wanna pop off/over the coping. Should I do a little shimmy bonk or shift my weight? How would you explain that part?
Good question, you talking about Smith grinds or Fs Grinds? Smith grinds I put more pressure on my back foot & tail of board to lift the front truck up more & then push the back truck into a 5-O position, so it's less locked in and more on top.. then to can shift your body weight back into transition while still putting most pressure on the back truck to sorta "push" your board into the transition without getting caught on your hanger.
@@ZackDowdy Anything really. It's my prob on all of it lol. I'll try to put more "oomph" into my back foot on the coping while guiding the board back in. The coping is pretty big where I skate.
Thanks for responding! Thanks for the vid as well. Quick and to the point
@@Onyxaxe No prob! Only thing I could add without showing you is to almost "manual" off the copping without actually manual-lying down the transition, kind of like a firecracker of a curb.
@@ZackDowdy best tip!!
That slam doe
That slam at the end was me on my mini this weekend except I landed all front hip! Fuckin feels good!
This video is more than 6 AM deegrees kelvin
Fuck yea good shit bro thank u.. I'm 46 yrs old ur shit is helping the fuck out of me.. thnx man!! Super stoked!!
Ayeeee look what I stumbled on. ✊🏻
That’s my church in the background..live 10 mins from there
Good job thanks for the inspiration but it's all about the air roll Eye Care it's it's all about air trying to fly and getting high
"YEAH!!!!!!"
I’ve done that at the end after sum fun finess , shittt hurts 😆🤙🏻🛹🔥🌊
🔥🔥🔥
Ooh man that slam at the end 😰
you just need to (*breathes heveaily
Dope ass vid
Nice vid, hey man what do you think would be an ideal bowl setup- Im only 5'4". Was thinking between an 8.25 or 8.38 x 31.8 - 32. Your suggestion would be appreciated. Cheers
8.38 sounds good, what's your shoe size? I'm a 10, and 8.5 is the nice fit but I do go back and forth a bit.
How dose he not have 10 k yet
Great tutorial! I am trying to relearn the techniques from my youth (now I am an old man)! By the way... you might want to reconsider wearing a ring while skateboarding a-la Aaron 'Fingers' Murray from DogTown. He lost a finger and a major tendon in his forearm while skateboarding due to a ring on his finger...just sayin'.
Wow that's a scary story - thanks for the heads up!
always fun so skate a bowl, not even do the tricks jsut ride inside is the most fun.
Oh I prefer you lock straight into a Smith grind O my goodness the front side grind late Smith ok let's see a back to back side air
Transition skating is the darkest area I fear to explore. I skate street only :(
It's really a lot easier to learn, in the sense bailing onto transition and sliding out verse jumping down something.
Thanks boss
That's my local scate park !
What a good board setup for transition?
Boss
Thanks
Idk if its your camera or the color filter but this video looks like its from a video games
Watching this man try talk while he tired gave me asthma
Learning to skate fat and 33... only ever got used to pushing and riding around, ollie's and shove its etc... not with style tho... I think at this age and having lived a gnarly life and bounced back... gives me the aggression and confidence in myself as well as not giving a fuck about anything but improving... only posers call beginners, posers... like they have someone finally worse around... if ur trying. Takin hits and repeating... and attack like ur a pro instead of limiting yourself to insecurity and fear. NOFX and Wu Tang or BIG L are my shit. Music helps.
And calling me a poser would be weird. Also a bad night for said poser and myself. I'd steal their shit, board and all and then skate theirs 🤣.. im.fat and old... and give 0 fucks... but dont snake me when I'm striking a line....
You clearly have the right attitude, it's all about perspective and blocking out the noise. I hope you get out there and destroy bud.
Here's a kick turn for a front side grind *does it backside*
Athon whoopsies
ive skated for like 20 years and thats one of those tricks i wish i could just do. but im goofy.
Mans outta breathhh Hahahaha
I recognize the lo fi beat from yt
Did he use to work at Woodward?
Yes!
Just stated skating 45 years old only riding transition what's the best size deck and wheels
It's all preference. Have fun!
Its trial and error , im having lots of fun just hurts more now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@jamesbondred9997 Be sure to stretch and strengthen your joints before and after workouts. I'm just 30 but strengthening exercises have made much difference in the frequency of trauma and pain intensity.
Will look into stretches , thanks for advice
@@jamesbondred9997 I prefer a 8.5 deck, Al rides a 8.65 right now. For wheels, I tend to go smaller like 54mm but up to 60mm is great.
That switch slam at the end looks like it sucked
this dude reminds me of nate diaz 😎🤙🏼
This is the dude I've been fucking looking for, ahaha these annoying ass tutorials vids bruh that aren't fun to watch. This guy is fuckin sick, did ass can see this guy being reliable finna hit the park later and send some shit. ahah
Slashgrindsb first
ngl you kinda look like shane from twd
I ride an 8.0 with tigh trucks and 39mm wheels😂
I feel that slashes are way easier lol
Great video, but calling this basics is a bit of a stretch
Anders L-O Five O, Slash, I mean teaching kick turns wouldn’t be very exciting
Is it just me or does this guy look absolutely faded?
Ride big boards lose Trucks ❤️
