- Happy Holidays Ya'll!!!
December is my all time favorite month and I am so excited to share my very first Vlogmas with you. I went on a trip to South Lake Tahoe to figure skate on Red Lake, which is right near Kirkwood. Special shoutout to my boyfriend, Colin, for taking me to fulfill my childhood dreams of skating on a frozen lake and for capturing this epic experience. In addition, Colin and I had a blast on Facebook's Holiday Party and my students did an amazing job at the Oakland Ice Holiday Show🎄

Honestly, same. Plus, the skatng rink in MOA arena is ALWAYS jam-packed. You can't do tricks before bumping into someone.

It was all Colin! He checked the weather and a couple facebook forums that told us how thick the ice would be! :)

I've never skated in rinks until I came to Australia hahaha! Back in China I've always skated on the lake near my house every winter, and thought skating rinks are only for fancy competitions lol! Loved this video ❤❤

This is amazing! I know the edges of Lake Tahoe freeze, but the entire lake never does; the region doesn't get cold enough. I'm very pleased that the ice is thick enough to skate on.
I gotta get back to Tahoe someday, to fulfill my dreams! Skating on the lake is one of them.
Update: I wrote this before watching the video. I noticed you skated on Donner Lake, not Tahoe. I don't know if the edges of Tahoe freeze enough to support weight, so I probably better stick to Donner Lake.
Where is that ice rink? The only one I know of in that area is the semi-outdoor one in Squaw Valley, at the top of the mountain, where the wind blows you to one end, and you have to fight against it to skate to the other end. You pay to skate for an hour. They go by the honor system, since few people can last even that long.

This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! Whenever someone asked me where I'd want to visit in the US I'd facetiously say "The potato fields of Idaho". Now I'll say I wanna visit and skate on late Tahoe in midwinter!
