- Hi everyone, in celebration of Adam Rippon's new UA-cam channel, / adamrippon , it's finally time I shared this amazing video I took with him in Santa Monica last December. I've been making figure skating videos called "On Ice Perspectives" on my Instagram channel, / oniceperspectives , and to have the opportunity to film my good friend in such a setting was a dream come true. I hope you enjoy it!

Neï Tha dawn is when the sun rises in the morning, dusk is when the sun sets in the evening, they look the same but the words just kind of note the difference in time of day. Either way it is gorgeous!
Shout out to the camera man: his sharp angles are so impressive. Having to skate as well and Match Adam but not be in his way.

The sky reflecting on the ice and the beautiful sunset made this so much more special than it already is ❄️

Oh my gosh, imagine if all ice skating were shot this way. It's so dizzying and gives you such a feel for how crazy fast and athletic you have to be. Also, the artistry here is so good and I LOVE this!

A drone? I dont really think a human capable of following up to him would waste his talents on filming ( i assume he would be into film making considering the perfect angels and motions of the camera to capture the skater's motions perfectly )

This is officially my aesthetic. The cotton candy pink sky reflecting on the ice, all the fairy lights and lampions, the palm trees the warm feeling u get from the audience. I love it.
Adam is of course gorgeous, but I have to give props to who filmed it, such a different perspective of ice skating than what we're used to!!

Amazing how skaters shine so truly and happily when they don't have the pressure of "jumping-god-knows-how-many-times-more-quads" on their shoulders ! Every performance on your channel radiates performers' true love for skating and that is what we need to see. Not rivals who fight over scores.
Dude ice skating just makes me so unbelievably excited oh my gosh! This was so great, Adam really put emotion into his skating. I love Olympic level skating and all, but so often skaters get too caught up in the technical elements. But Adam's expression, footwork, and emotion is plenty to make a stunning performance, forget the quad jumps.
This is an actual Olympic level of skating, though! :) I first saw Adam skate in the 2018 Olympics, and I was blown away by his performance, too.

Both were good because it's hard to keep the camera still while skating on ice yet get the best shot of each important bits of the choreo....he shot it in a way that the viewers feel like they are skating with him. A job well done to the both of them.

The camera man only following Adam, so credit is given to both ,having a talented skilled skater and then an equally talented camera man to capture it ,so we can view it .

I’ve been here and the public skating is bad cause the ice is so choppy and there are a lot dents. In this it looks nice though!

I love his layback spin, it was breath taking. There aren't many male skaters that do layback spins. I've only seen him and Rudy Galindo. It's nice to see something different in figure skating.

Btw ( not related to the camera man or anything ) there are spikes that you can put on the bottom of normal shoes in order to walk on ice without wiping out

I have always admired Adam´s skating and interpretation skills. This is just so beautiful and full of emotions. Wonderful setting...and yes, the cameraman did a great job, too. However, I bow to Adam. What an artist on ice!

Only if you push Down while skating! If you dont, youll have a harder time doing alot of the tricks, and Its just sounds slippery-
i forgot what it's called but there's people skating on incredibly thin ice over natural water sources and the noises that happen are unreal

This is what I want in TV broadcast during the competition! Follow the skaters, chasing the speed!
lau victor There is a show called Battle of the Blades in Canada that I hope to film for in the fall. This past winter I filmed for Dancing On Ice in the UK, on the ice and live for 7 million viewers! It was as epic as it sounds.
As much as I would like to see this in TV coverage during competitions, I don't think it would work. It would be to much of a distraction for the competitors and the judges. Plus can you imagine if a camera operator was to fall during a competition routine, it could be just where the skater(s) were going to be next and they only have one shot in competitions; also routines can be altered mid competitions. I personally love just seeing just a pair or the solo skater on the ice and owning it during competition, no distractions.
Also it would take too much time for the camera operators to learn the routines and having enough skating camera operators.
When done on Dancing On Ice, the rink is quite small and it is entertainment (not that the competitors don't take it serious), huge diffference to serious competitions though.
Absolute full credit though to the camera operator/skater, two great skills to have, talented in their own right.

Gennie Seaview That’s why I’m aiming for skating exhibitions. How great would it be if I could film the Gala Exhibition after the 2022 Beijing Olympics for live TV? I don’t have to be on the ice for the whole routine, but step on and off for certain sections, just like I did for Dancing On Ice.

I would love to see a raw video of you just filming the skater and all you can hear is their 'silver blades' gliding and cutting into the ice as they perform their routine, no music (the skater could wear ear phones, so they can hear their music); then maybe people could have a guess as to the song/music they were skating to, then do one with the song/music after (just a thought). I think that could be quite unique.
Thanks again for such great viedos, hope you get to do 'Dancing On Ice' again, if it is recommisioned (I have a feeling it has been, by something Phillip Schofield said).

Fantastic heartfelt performance with beautiful stretch and lines - especially for such a small warm and wet ice rink. It's incredibly difficult to skate in those conditions - especially jump and spin - and he gave his all without flinching to his very appreciative audience. And he was incredibly warm and appreciative of his fans. The world doesn't give us a better all around figure skater that represents the best of the sport and art and heart within the sport that figure skating has to offer.
