This was actually the first Lucie for Hire where I felt fully unable to do the job. WOW!!! What a hard sport. Thanks for watching me try and watching me fall!!!
I love how you called it a “sport” so many people say that figure skating isn’t a sport but they don’t understand the athleticism that goes into it and all the early-morning hours (alarm clock for 3 am, anyone?)!!
I agree totally, this video does not represent the true athleticism of my sport. These types of videos are really offensive to the figure skating community. This is also NOTHING like my training routine, this video should be taken down!
I view figure skating as art, honestly so amazing, also as a sport, I mean do people think you can just magically become a good figure skater in a day, no, years of hard work and practice sessions.
As a figure skater myself, I can say I was smiling and laughing, because this is exactly like when I was learning and now i can master a triples. I think you showed people that Figure Skating is harder then it looks! Thanks Lucie :)
@@montanamarheine208 If they can do triple axels, amazing! But most likely other triple jumps (or at least those first) because triple axels are extremely difficult.
Also i hate when you go skating with friends who dont figure skate , and they say your showing off if you get bored and do any kind of advance move while skating with them -_-
I'm a figure skater too and this really reminded me of my first skating lessons when I was younger. People are always awed when they find out I do the sport and tell me they're afraid of falling. If you don't fall, then you can't consider yourself a figure skater because you're not trying hard enough. That's what my coach always tells me.
I'd love to hear about your progress, since it's been a while. Do you still skate? I'm absolutely new to figure skating and still trying to learn how to spin with both feet. How fast will you progress?
I hope you realize that not many people would put themselves out there the way that you do. Yes, it's your job, but it's not always easy. People don't like other people see them fall, trip, stumble, struggle, etc. You at times can experience all those things in one video and more and to top it off, you're smiling most, if not the whole time. Now you've got me wanting an uncensored outtake video just to prove you're human. (Censored would also be fine, and yes I do realize that's not going to happen, but I figured why not throw it out there). That's it. Stay Awesome and Have a Wonderful Weekend : )
Right I’ve been trying to start a new hobby for 3 years but I always chicken out, I want to try figure skating even thought I know it’s going to take some time but I think it is going to make me become confident
Please do it! Don't listen to anyone who may say: "Skating's for kids" or try to discourage you. You'll meet supportive and amazing people along the way, take tests to advance and even compete. Some tried to discourage me. Had I listened, I wouldn't have met the many kind people I know within the skating world-and believe me, although big, it's small. Don't get discouraged if you can't obsorb a particular element-practice and determination's the bottom line. Good luck!
SkaterForLife Gordon I’m a figure skater, and if you don’t have the money to do it, it’s not worth it. Skates, ice, and lessons are a huge reason why people bail out. If you get a good coach, it’s 100-200 an hour, 15-30 for an hour of ice, good quality skates+blades can end up more than 1k... it’s seriously not worth it 😂
I really liked this because she truly showed her appreciation for the difficulty of the sport. So many people say that skating is easy and anyone can do it!
Really cool video! But I also just wanted to add that figure skaters also do off ice work including dance, ballet, off ice jumps, and cardio work. Loved the video and the dress tho!
Ohhh damn I would bust my face 😭 props to you for trying! 😂 maybe one day it’d be fun to try working at a wildlife rehab shelter!!! Helping to save a bunch of lil squirrels and baby animals for the day hehe
i am so glad she changed out of a costume when she was just learning how to skate. i was so concerned she was going to learn in a dress because 'that's what they wear in the olympics" staying warm and safety are both very important!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been a figure skater since i was 3 now im a teenager thanks for respecting how hard the sport is sometimes people dont see how har the sport actually is
"When we fall we never want to fall backwards" Here I am as a professional figure skater falling backwards on my butt or hips 24/7 that I invested on a butt pad 😐
I'm an Adult figure skater/Coach. For a first-timer, you did well! Consider enrolling in either Groups, or Private lessons. I think with practice and determination you could even compete in local competitions. Good Luck.
I'm a professional figure skater and I hate when people say figure skating is not a real sport or it's one of the easiest thing in the world no figure skating is one of the hardest hard core complex dangerous sports ever and please respect it
you did so well for your first time attempting it! figure skating is so grueling, but also so rewarding, and I'm so glad that you got to experience it for a little bit! it's often assumed that because we make it look easy, it is, but that's just our jobs as skaters. I'm sure you felt the bruises and muscle soreness the next day ;)
I'm pretty sure Lucie won't read this but I just wanted to say as someone who was a figure skater for 20+ years, you are actually pretty good for a beginner. You have good natural balance on the ice, your feet are quite steady actually and your lack of fear is a big positive for someone who starts skating after childhood. And, to be honest, being so slim doesn't hurt in figure skating (it makes it easier to rotate in the air). If you actually took lessons and trained I think you would be a really good adult skater.
Haha this is awesome. She didn't do too bad! As a figure skater, I can say yes it takes years and years to get even half decently good. Unless you're rich and can skate 6-7 times a week with private lessons. Then it takes less years. 😁
This was the rink I learned to figure skate in. Man, does it bring back many happy memories! I loved skating there and being able to look out the picture windows at the Hudson! 😄❤️⛸⛸
LOL im a figure skater and watching her struggle on all the moves i did when i was 5 is so funny. i also love how you showed people how hard this sport is, and me doing doubles at 12 i really dont get much credit for my hard work so thank you :)
Your shoulders are sooo pretty. Your dress is sooo pretty. Your skates are sooooo pretty. Nobody's comfortable in ice skates if they don't skate on the regular!
It's kinda funny that figure skaters use ballet stretches and warm ups and workouts, just proves that ballerinas and figure skaters shouldn't be at war)
Thank you for letting her wearing a helmet. Brains are so important. I know people that had surgery because of falling. I am a beginner at inline figure skating and i wear all the protective gear, also a helmet.
2 things: 1. I have the same name as the professional figure skater. 2. I'm pretty sure she was also in the "Hockey Skaters try to keep up with Figure skaters" video and vise versa.
One reason she struggled was because she was on rental skates. So many people try skate on rental skates and do terrible and think that it means theyre bad or it's too hard. If you are on good, strong, supportive skates you will do significantly better
I am wondering if you can do a 5-days of waking up naturally... Like, going to bed and waking up without alarm clocks, and then tracking how much/well you sleep and how you feel?
When everyone starts skating at 2-4 and I’ve never been on the ice at the age of 14. And I’m just learning to ice skate next week and then learning to figure skate... I feel like I’m too old to start ice skating/figure skating now...
What do you want to see Lucie try next on Lucie For Hire? Comment below :)

OMG
Lucieeeee how tall are u
How cold were you in the outfit? Everyone else had on full on winter gear!
Allison Alcéna freezing, lol
Try Irish dancing next! Would be perfect with the North American Irish dance nationals coming up in July!!
When the girl says she'd been skating for 29 years but still look 20
asian don't raisin haha
Deydey She doesn't look that young. She looks 30 to me
Alicia that would mean she started skating when she was 1 so she still looks extremely young.
She looks late 30s to me.
@@orangehexbug9598 Most skaters start between 2 and 4.

Sowmya M when did you start figure skating and how long has it taken you to reach your level! :)
Triple axels?
How long have you been skating, and do you think that early teens is too late to start skating for a career?
@@stormforeveryspring im a figure skater obviously it'll be harder to start when you're older. but you can do it! its never too late.
@@montanamarheine208 If they can do triple axels, amazing! But most likely other triple jumps (or at least those first) because triple axels are extremely difficult.
I hate when people say "tricks and twirls " ... What are we ? Dogs ? 🙄
We do steps, jumps, turns , and we spin , we don't twirl.
Agreed!! I HATE it when people say we do tricks!!! Also, stopping isn't a 'trick'! 😂
Same here. They're called Elements, not tricks, as though it's magic!
preach girllllllll
Valeriyamimi EXACTLY
Also i hate when you go skating with friends who dont figure skate , and they say your showing off if you get bored and do any kind of advance move while skating with them -_-

Figure skating is a very hard sport and I have been skating for only a few months but I finally am starting to go into freestyle skating
Same man!
I'd love to hear about your progress, since it's been a while. Do you still skate?

Cloe CCC Depending on the rink they can offer group lessons for Adults Basics in Ice skating from levels 1-6. I am on 5 now! It’s a lot of fun
Me as a figure skater:
Angela: *Says flexibility*
Me: IM TRYING
if you still arent flexible i have an amazing routine and u can give me ur snap and i can show or something it :)
This seems like this video should be called "I took a day of skating lessons."
haha yes
"I've been skating for 29 years"
GIRL I THOUGHT SHE WAS LIKE 17
I really liked this because she truly showed her appreciation for the difficulty of the sport. So many people say that skating is easy and anyone can do it!
Really cool video! But I also just wanted to add that figure skaters also do off ice work including dance, ballet, off ice jumps, and cardio work. Loved the video and the dress tho!
I think you should do 5 days of learning to sew like so lucie see's this
Great idea!!!
Maya Tenzer sewing is so fun
Ohhh damn I would bust my face 😭 props to you for trying! 😂 maybe one day it’d be fun to try working at a wildlife rehab shelter!!! Helping to save a bunch of lil squirrels and baby animals for the day hehe

Lucie has the biggest most gorgeous eyes.
i’m a professional figure skater and wth she did so good on her first day i’m shook
I thought she did great for a beginner skater!
I like the video even before watching it. This is how much I love refinery29 and Lucie Fink. Keep up the good work. Ly❤

I’ve been a figure skater since i was 3 now im a teenager thanks for respecting how hard the sport is sometimes people dont see how har the sport actually is

Omg same I almost never fall on my side 😂

Oh well, I’ll just keep watching the Grand Prix series on tv. 😊
Your shoulders are sooo pretty. Your dress is sooo pretty. Your skates are sooooo pretty. Nobody's comfortable in ice skates if they don't skate on the regular!
im figure skater myself and to be honest i couldn’t do a snow-plough stop in the first few days but she kinda nailed it in a day

I'd love to see Lucie training like a professional swimmer! She has the perfect body type for it, I think she'd be amazing!
She’s wearing salmon on her legs! I love it so much!! Lucie, you rock anything ever
Try being a juice maker or a baker
Lucie, your progress in one day alone went from shuffling to doing tricks which is nothing at all to sneeze at.
This was super cool and really funny watching you fall!😂
First!
Lovely! You did so great for a first day at skating
Air hostess. As one of them, I can tell you for sure training would be fun to watch

Those werent the bad plastic rental skates tho

I’m a competitive figure skater and have dreamed of seeing someone do this
Roller derby next!
This is so relevant to me! I just started figure skating lessons and it’s so fun but really difficult!
There should be one where she trains a professional taekwondo master
Great episode, I love figure skating! I’d love a Lucie for hire Broadway dancer episode!
figure skating is just so beautiful
I just got home from ice skating lessons when I got the notification!
I am wondering if you can do a 5-days of waking up naturally... Like, going to bed and waking up without alarm clocks, and then tracking how much/well you sleep and how you feel?
Wait what she did so well for her first time :0 On my first time skating I was all over the place.
I’m a figure skater and when you had your tights on when u had your costume on they were backwards the sparkles should be in the front.
That was Damn good for just one day! Keep skating, Lucie!
I’m a figure skater and omg I love this
When I was little I thought it was finger skater. I thought they would skate on their fingers 😂
IM SO HAPPY THIS MAKES ME SO EXCITED
Ahhhh Angela is my coach! She did so welllll
WOW, that was fun. Could you try being a social worker!! That will be definitely make you feel the best about yourself.!😊
Lucie did so so well!!
FIRST AGAINNNN LOVE YOU LUCIE💜
I am a figure skater and I remember it being really hard at first but then you get used to doing it
I am a professional skater and I found this and just had fun watching it 😂😂
Try being a waitress at a very busy restaurant! It will bring awareness of the hard job they have to do that sometimes goes unnoticed :)
By a biochemist next!! 👩🏼🔬👩🏼🔬👩🏼🔬
As a figure skater this video makes me really happy!! Haha
Professional Makeup Artist
You should try circus performer... You could do trapeze! That whoud be so cool!!! 😍😍😍
By seeing this I want to figure skate too 😍😍😍😍 love you lucie ❤️❤️❤️ OMG she is so adorable and cute 😄
I’m a figure skater, it’s a lot of fun but it’s one of those sports that you either love or hate 😂🤷🏼♀️
Lucie should try being a professional Irish dancer!
You did really well considering this is day one!!
