You did a great job on the dress and I loved seeing someone using two narrow rows to gather! That was how I learned and you can control the gathers so much more. Thanks for sharing.
I am following and subscribed to you. I sewed like 20, years ago, I have 2 sergers excellent condition and 7 minus one sewing machine, 3 were inherited so I gifted my Aunt with. My hubby and I moved to our new home about 7 months ago so I have my SheRoom. I got into mixed media, beading, and paper crafting but my love is sewing. I made a special sewing area for my love and will be enjoying that craft as well....so excited. So I have been getting pointers from you in particular tho alot has not changed. Basically once you have basics you can pickup from there. But will continue to follow you and learn as well. Thank you for vids, you are fantastic! ♡
Great sewalong Mimi, you make me want to make this up! Can I ask what your aversion to sewing with the bobbin thread showing is? They look the same to me?
Im a beginner and did not grow up sewing or learning it in school. Did you fold the fabric in half before you cut? If so, for pattern C, 1 5/8 yard as suggested on the pattern would not be long enough to cut a front and back along the fold line . Can you please explain this for Pattern C?
Hi Mimi. Love your no frills approach to sewing. But I noticed u didn’t stay stitch the neckline. Have u had an issues with the green polka dot dress neckline stretching and growing?
Good day, My name is Jade Jones. I just watched the video on UA-cam and wanted to know if I can make a request. Since I am always on UA-cam learning about seeing is it possible within the next video you make please explain the differential feed, stitch length, width and which numbers the needles/upper looper and lower looper should be on when sewing which ever fabric type in use for the video. I know I am asking much but I do not have formal training and need to train my eyes and mind to now what's best for the fabric of garments. Respectful Thanks, Jade Jones
I bought the pattern, bought some stretchy fabric (not sure what type , but it stretches both directions. one more than the other.) Its somewhat thin but you cannot see through it. Does anyone know why my bobbin threads are showing on top. Im using a ballpoint and a stretch stitch. Could it be because the fabric is not very dense?
Ok, this is my favorite look, the girly sleeves, but, it just won’t work on certain body shapes. I did see the pattern that has these exact sleeves but a non fitted dress. Just not sure that one will work with a fat midsection. Of course, it looks beautiful on u.
BTW: If y'all haven't joined SewItAcademy.com, I have NO clue what you're waiting on! Imagine a tutorial like this teaching you EVERYTHING about sewing! ALL of the garments we make fit amazingly and have that "Mimi G style", the bonuses she makes available are GREAT! Iwont give it all away...but check it out! For the price of 2 coffees you can call yourself a seamstress! Lol! (Hairflick)
Thank you! I really enjoy her videos and think she's a great teacher. But haven't been sure about signing up for the sewitacademy. Plus I have an older sewing machine. I wanted to hear from someone who's already taking the classes online. Thanks again!🙂
@@EmorettaRobinson you are very welcome! Its been one of the best decisions I've made! I have an old Kenmore as long as it works you are golden! You'll love it! I'm amazed at the bonuses, the things she is literally giving away to us! She definitely invests more in us than the price of the courses... I hope that makes sense. Lol!
So sorry, they r on sale for 3 more days. Simplicity is 2.99 next week and 1.99 Butterick as well. All at Joann. So, them saying they would only sell for 5 bucks is very incorrect.
Right.. Just buy the largest size offered then measure the largest parts on your body then transfer those measurements to the fabric/pattern before cutting it out. This dress is easy to make alterations to as there's no bust darts to try to adjust.♡

Beautiful dress, great sew along. Thanks for sharing!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this look!!! I looked at Joann's for this fabric, but couldn't find it, but I did get the pattern.
Stunning as always! And those nails, gorgeous! Care to share the colour? It’s the red I’ve been hunting for forever.
Very nice! Love the dress, I think I can make this.
I used your ruched technique on New Look 6577 top view C. Much cleaner/easier way than instructed. Thanks!
So cute! I had to buy my pattern from the McCall website. I can't wait for it to get here so I can try it!
Johanna Jackson how did it turn out ?
I need to do this dress. It seems really easy.
Love it, any chance of your wrap skirt sew along video going back up?

I wish you had shown how to sew the cuff on. Did you use the free arm and which fabric did you have next to the feeddogs? Thank you for the lesson.
Great video Mimi. I wanted to ask what kind of body form you have behind you and where can I get one like that?
Go Meme. Love it. Blessings First Nations
Great tips on gathering at the bust. Now I know how to do it for your sports bra.
Will you eventually do a video on your sports bra?

Was just on sew it academy lol xx

Please excuse the two typos. Sewing and know should have been there. My bad.😅
nice dress,looks so pretty on u 😍👍
Damn. That color does look good on you ! 😍😍😍
What is your preferred thread for all purpose sewing.
What kind of thread are you using on stretch fabric and what size and width of stitch are you using on strdtch fabric? Thank you.
Do you hav a recommendation for an easy woven fabric similar to this pattern? I have too many lumps and bumps for this fitted. (Ie 3 piece dress)
Why not hem the neckline before gathering it? Wouldn’t it be easier to sew the hem without the gather there?
Easy explanation for gathers. Thanks!

Figured it out!! It was the thread apparently. Once I wound new bobbins and changed the thread-- whala!
I love it!!
Wouldnt this dress b sp much easier done flat? Sewing side seams last from sleeve cuff to hem.

Monica Just where spanx. Mimi talks about them in one of her video U will look wonderful😆

JoAnn's pattern sales are generally mid-month and Hobby Lobby's are usually at the beginning of the month. Both have weekly ads starting on Sunday.

I so wish these patterns were available in plus sizes
A pattern like this is easy to customize
